In the past two decades, China has invested heavily in its naval modernization program with the objective of building a blue-water navy. Crucial to that goal was the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), China’s leading military shipbuilding state-owned enterprise from 1999 to 2019. Yet the recent arrest of former CSIC Chairman Hu Wenming highlights the fact that serious corruption exists among China’s military shipbuilders, in spite of sustained graft fighting efforts.
In the past few years, important individuals of CSIC have been nabbed under corruption charges.

China also has a problem with shafting their military pensioners that have retired only to see their benefits reduced or denied after a short while. Its a significant source of hostility to the CCP and they are carefully monitored and "reeducated" when they attempt any kind of public protests. The problem with totalitarianism is that its hard to maintain total control over human nature and the laws of economics.

The ChiComs have the ethics of a scorpion, except without the good nature of a scorpion.
Having worked with a number of research institutes in Russia and former soviet states....some of the leadership was competent, and a few were the sons of former leaders, and as corrupt, lazy and incompetent as you could ever imagine. Getting results in a project occasionally required me to find ways to reroute orders and reports AROUND the project managers, directly to the workers.
China's corruption likely means that, like the Russians, lots of their stuff will basically work, but will have some serious drawbacks in effectiveness which will be covered up and hidden to protect the guilty.

It's no wonder the Chinese call a ship a "Junk."

China's government policy and ideology shape people's moral compass. For example, the majority of Chinese populations are against Hong Kong's freedom fighter's demonstration. Also, like the Chinese government, the tourists are swarming like starving locust and leaving their marks at every destination.

Can confirm. Our energy company had CSIC execs in Vancouver, partly for their innaugural offshore accounts. CSIC is big. And extremely corrupt, like everything else in China.

While China was heavily investing in their navy, the USA, during the Obama years were doing the opposite. Our Navy, one of our proudest military jewels basically had been put out to pasture by Obama. It became old and sluggish. Obama downsized the Navy to critical numbers. People may criticize President Trump for spending like a drunken sailor in his first term, however he spent to strengthen our military might, especially with the Navy. This past four months has proven that with the CDC as well. We were sitting ducks for the Corona Virus. The Americans better thank our lucky stars we have President Trump who is not beholden to anyone and can see through the blaring corruption both here and abroad. China will reap harsh consequences in the years to come if they play foul with us and we can thank President Trump he has protect our military and gave it his number one priority.
Many of the problems we have today stem from bad trade deals made with China by incompetent leaders who were coerced by their money hungry lobbyist friends. The Chinese knew that money talks with us, especially with politicians and their family members. The had a good time playing us for suckers for the past couple of Decades...since the Clintons. Well the gloves are off and the party is over China. We won't take prisoners.

Happens after every recent dimocrap admin. Reagan had to rebuild after Carter, W after Clinton.
The dims always sacrifice our national security to buy off their welfare voters and money launderers.
Not saying China isn't to be worried about but I recall how the Japanese were going to dominate the world in the late 80s and early 90s. Turned out their kids aren't as industrious as their elders and became spoiled like American kids. Hopefully wealth will change China as well. But there are a lot more of 'em.

This is what you get from dog eating, godless, communists. We've got or have had a few dog eating, godless, communists in our government (Obama was the last to admit to dog eating in one of his books).

These are standard practices of Communism, corruption, and there are no checks and balances like in a Democracy. Communism eats itself from within but not before destroying the lives of millions of innocent people.

When a country is run by criminals bribes & corruption are a given.
The only way out is to kill off a lot of the corrupt & choose positions based only on merit.
LOL!
Not gonna happen.

#7, China is "missing" from 30 to 60 million females who were aborted in favor of a male heir, favored by Chinese society. That puts all sorts of unpredictable kinks into a society, which are nowhere near having all been identified, let alone having been played out. Chinese demographics will be seriously distorted for another 50-70 years, perhaps longer. Nothing good comes from ChiCom control.

If you have nothing to anchor your morality you'll act selfishly.
If you view your fellow human being as nothing more than animals nothing will stop you from slaughtering them.
If you view your fellow human beings as nothing more than robots then they'll only have value as they're useful. Then you throw them away.
But if you view your fellow human beings as children of a God who loves them then you'll have the beginnings of actual morality.

And in every non-communist country.

I think the only thing they have over us is sheer numbers of servicemen. But in equipment we have no equal. They have two carriers, one under construction. We have 11, with 3 more on the way. We have the new Virginia-class subs, the creme de la creme of undersea weapons platforms. Our F-15s/F-16s/F18s/F-22s/F-35s would clear the sky of Chicoms. What would Xi do if it came down to a fight? Surely he must know he'd die pretty quick.
