On Friday, President Trump announced Operation Warp Speed, a public-private partnership to develop a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year if possible. He put two “can-do” people in charge of the process – Glaxo Smith Kline’s vaccine expert Mancef Slaoui to oversee vaccine development and Army General Gus Perna to oversee logistics.
Not only will they facilitate testing of the available vaccines, but they will also arrange production of promising vaccines even before they have been approved. In contrast, during President Obama’s Swine Flu (H1N1) epidemic, the CDC got vaccines approved quickly (just 7 weeks after Phase 1 clinical trials began),

Let's be careful with this.
I would remind you people that the 1975-76 swine flu epidemic that never was, resulted in the production of a vaccine that caused some people to develop Guillan-barre syndrome, with some of those dying as a result of the vaccine.
There is a reason for a Dr. Fauci to exist in the world of medicine.
I say we should proceed with all deliberate speed, but we have to be careful out there.

Re #2, recommend a read of the entire article. They are aware of problems with effects of other previous vaccines… Article talks about it...

What an amazing strategist Trump is. The bureaucracy's job is to slow things down and be certain. When you already have the answers, being sure the correct thing is done is a good idea. When you don't have the right answers in a critical situation you have to balance formal process against the cost of delay. The reality is, no one has the right answer to the correct balance. You can be sure that bureaucracy moves too slowly. You can also be sure that if you proceed too quickly and without enough care, bad things might happen. Where the correct balance is, no one can be sure. There is no doubt things can move faster than bureaucrat Fauci seems able to do. Trump has highly qualified people to move the process along quickly but safely. Trump is doing the right thing and making the right choice because there is an additional danger of a broken economy that is doing enormous damage. Fauci gives that lip service but really doesn't factor it in. He seems incapable of it and is no longer serving the best interests of the Country as a whole.

I knew of a major international bank that, when a senior employee proved to be ineffective, reassigned them to a job where they could do no harm. Firing Fauci could have caused political damage, so now he’ll be on stage, but he’ll no longer be the vaccine guru. That disgruntled Dr. Rick Bright (the lastest whistleblower who filed a complaint because he was fired) was supposed to lead the vaccine effort. Ended up being a useless cypher…

I bet the vaccine already exists. Chances are Gates has it in waiting. Nothing on the planet would make me take it. The man has admitted to giving vaccines with the intent of depopulating the world.

I'll take my chances without a shot, without a mask and without plastic gloves. I've been going to the same grocery stores and convenience stores since this "outbreak" and none of the cashiers and clerks handling dirty, filthy money and being face to face with people (within 3 feet) have dropped like flies yet. My oldest brother (70 - healthy, no underlying conditions) got what he thought was a mild form of the flu back in January - he got tested, and guess what? It wasn't the flu. He's certain it was Covid and he survived just fine.

Superb. Now eliminate the doofuses in the Federal Government who've made such a mess of our pharmaceutical industry with the mind numbing useless regulations.

We are still waiting on vaccines for a lot of conditions.
Many viruses come back after a period of dormancy, like shingles for those who had chicken pox as children.
Some who had polio had it come back after decades of dormancy.
The ancient Egyptians documented herpes virus over 3,000 years ago.
The Scarf Queen's military background shows in her work to do the job, while Hobbit Fouci has been foot-dragging and not calling out the doomsday predictions which so far have been wildly inaccurate.
We have gone from "flattening the curve" which turned out to be easy (except for New York) to social distancing and masks, to waiting for a vaccine, to waiting for a CURE. More stalling, Stonewalling, and foot dragging attempting to bring our Republic to its knees with legislation intent on upending the US Constitution!!
Meanwhile the US and the world is working to stave off a World-wide Great Depression... Good move getting Fouci out of the way--

Knocking down all barriers and road blocks. THAT is what a real leader does in an emergency.

#9, there is a shingles (chicken pox) vaccine now. I had a recurrence of chicken pox, which I had as a child, the "old cure", and got over, when I was in my middle 50s. I had the shingles vaccination, have not had a recurrence in a decade. I also have taken the two part pneumonia vaccination. Since that is a serious problem with older folks....and I am rapidly getting there, I hope it helps me remain healthier.
The paranoia on display is sometimes saddening.
