Some of the most populous states in the country – blue states dominated by Democrats – plan to continue the economic carnage of full lockdowns for a long, long time. Gavin Newsom of California promises no return to normal until a vaccine is developed, which could be never (snip) Apparently, the political theory is that poor people support Democrats at the polls, so impoverishing most people means permanent majorities keeping them in power.
Meanwhile some red states like South Dakota and Wyoming never locked down their entire states, while others are now reopening step-by-step

To Liberals there are only two classes. The rulers and the ruled - the 'Nomenklatura' and the masses. "Citizens will be driven to poverty and dependence on government handouts" says it all.

I hope the Blue Gov of Michigan suffers with legal challenges including removal from office. The draconian measures she instituted have unnecessarily killed off small businesses- and the medical community. Sadly, Michigan population is 52% in Detroit Metro Area.. they will keep her in power.

Flu Klux Klan is the name I suggest we call the people who would politicize the Covid-19 against us Deplorables.

I hope Lifson is right, but don't count on it. The media is playing up the "they're crazy and dangerous" meme the dimocrats are purveying about red states that re-open. Dimocrats never seem to "pay a price at the polls" which helps explain why they do the things they do -- because they can.

Heck, #4, my state senator and rep have been really quiet and they're both Republicans. I guess they are fine with all of this nonsense.

They hate Trump so they are going to bankrupt their states, basically.

When Georgia started to reopen 2 weeks ago the Democrats predicted a massive wave of deaths. So far the new infection rate and deaths are the same as during the lockdown, and largely confined to specific counties.

Will they? In Michigan, possibly, but Whitmer was just elected two years ago. She has two years for people to forget. In Illinois, the voters are brain-dead and will vote for anyone with a D by their name.

My thoughts too, #9. Depends on the election cycle. Some may have time to do more damage, short of a recall.

Read that mayors in Michigan's key cities of grand rapids, holland, traverse city, and kalamazoo are planning to "open for business" on may 15 ... freedom day.
Can it be true?

I hope all of them have to get real jobs and do some real work. State and city governments pay about as well as private industries, but most of these has-been con artists have name recognition. Surely there is a private country club in need of a maître d’hôtel. Just think, formal dress every day!

Gavin Newsom ordered all balloting by mail in November. I don’t think it’s going to work out for us here in California.

Vote fraud totally nullifies the need for good policy and effective government. Dems do what they want and never worry they will pay even the slightest price at the polls. GOP needs to go to war for election integrity or the US will never recover.

Nutcase should keep us on lockdown until there is a cure for the common cold, cancer, and stupidity.

Not just unnecessary, but unconstitutional which makes their actions illegal. They had the right to do the shut down, but that right only lasts as long as the crisis does. The crisis is pretty much over in most of the nation except for maybe 3-4 states. All run by blue governors by the way. Problem right now is, these governors might be opening, but the restrictions they are applying are actually backhanded ways of keeping it all going.

Does anyone here agree with the headline? Knowing democrats, and what they will put up with as long as there is a "D" after their names? Sorry, Mr. Lifson, but I can't see them changing their ways for something as picayune as this. /S

For the Dem lockdowns to work they must convince voters that it's Trump's fault. Most people have no idea of Federalism and that the Governors determine strategy.
Remember when W was condemned because he didn't call out the Louisiana National Guard for Katrina ?

In Red State Louisiana, our Dem. Gov. is hiring 250 'Social Checkers," or, as we call them, "Social Police," to spy on us. Unfortunately, he was just re-elected in 2019 against a weak Repub. candidate. We are living in frightening, scary times.

The way Democrats are all doubling down on lies and on their fascistic lockdowns, it appears they feel confident their vote fraud tactics will assure they win no matter what.

These governors will be called heroes and elected again - "if it saves just one life!" Do you really think California will elect another republican as governor or senator again?

Really? Who do the voters choose instead? In order to lose the rat governors have to face an opponent. I don't see alternatives making the news and there is NO state level Republican party in NY worth a dime. Donald Trump is a wild card. Someone rich enough, smart enough and tough enough to take on the rat political establishment and play the rat media to his own ends. There aren't many, if any, like him ready to step up and if there are, the RINO cowards who seem to infest Republicans at the power levels, won't lift a finger to help them. The last time the Thug of NY had a worthy opponent who could have defeated him, the Republican party went out of their way to avoid supporting the Republican candidate. The quislings are worse than the rats.

I don't think the governor can order massive, fundamental changes to voting. THAT needs be challenged in court, and slapped down HARD.

Dems used to be for the working class, now the working class are protesting to return to work???? My guess is dems will lose votes due to the radical democrat governors.
