Elie Mystal of the Nation does not want to go back to work without "somebody to come take my children. A school bus. A babysitter. A freaking traveling circus. It doesn’t really matter. My economy cannot reopen, life cannot return to normal for me, until fully functional child care comes back on line."
That is very telling.
He does not care who takes care of his children -- a freaking traveling circus will do --
(Snip)Here is how affordable child care worked in the Surber household in the 1990s. I worked first shift, my wife worked second. That is what the Child Care Fairy gives a parent, a partner.

Democrats are counting on crashing the economy in order to skew the elections more in their favor. They will try to extend the shutdown through the summer, they could care less about the citizens.

fta: He wrote, most correctly, "For most families, there is no child care without school. In America, school is pretty much the only free or subsidized child care our government provides. Without reliable, affordable, and COVID-free child care, going back to work is simply not an option for many parents."
So, it's not the father or mother's job to take care of the precious wee moppets, it's the government's job. And until Uncle Sam gets to parenting, no one can work, even those without young children or who have a stay at home spouse.
Why do these perpetual adolescents have children? Obviously with their diminished mental faculties they should not have bred but they are so selfish and self absorbed one wonders.
Oh but he is right, public school for most kids and parents is taxpayer funded daycare or day jail.

Crashing an economy does not seem like a good way to win votes and elections! Besides, we know that President Trump is winning that perception, since the media doesn't want to show his briefings!
The democrats miscalculated again. The American people just won't cooperate with their schemes. We will see President Trump back for another four years. We will see some democrat governors tossed out on their ears. We will see the House of Representatives flipped, and shed Pelosi and other nasty democrats.
I look forward to a very happy Fall this year. America will be back to work, the swamp will continue to be drained, and democrats will be sent packing!

I was raised without government childcare, as were my children. It's not the governments job to watch the kids and it's not my responsibility as a taxpayer to provide it. I have to wonder who takes his children during the summer months, when he still has to work? I guess the taxpayers are also on the hook for summer daycare and three meals a day, so he can work?

Gee, my niece's "child care" is herself. Her husband flies for the Marines, and she takes care of the kids and house, and home schools them. She has been very little bothered by this stuff. I really like her and her husband's choices.
Life is all about choices. Some choose poorly.

My parents raised FIVE children without using outside childcare. My mom was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest, my younger brother, started middle school. And even then, she only worked in the afternoons. We lived on Dad's paycheck and made do with what we had.
As a result, my mom was home to care for us when we were sick. She made sandwiches when we walked home for lunch, and yes, we were allowed to leave the school for lunch in the 70's. She was a girl scout leader for all three of her girls and taught us to cook along the way. She was available to attend our school plays, choir concerts, school carnivals and my brother's football games. And our house was a "Helping Hand" house, with the bright orange handprint in the front window letting kids in the neighborhood know that help for injuries and dangerous situations was always available, our house designated a safe location to run to.
All in all, we five were pretty damn lucky having a parent at home when we needed her the most!
