Like most people, I cannot know for sure what actually happened between Joe Biden and Tara Reade many, many moons ago, or, for that matter, what may have once transpired between Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford. No one knows for sure but the individuals (and/or eyewitnesses) themselves, and memories of long-ago encounters may not be sharp — or may become vivid in one person’s recollection and utterly vague in another’s. If I were asked to detail an incident that happened a quarter-century ago, absent serious trauma, I’d be completely stumped. There’s a reason for statutes of limitation. OK, I stopped when Sullivan said "eyewitnesses" in relation to the Kavanaugh lies. There was not one witness who could EVER place Kavanaugh and Ford in the same location, as far as was heard. Possibly, they were in the same school building at some time, but even that was never proven. Ford's allegations had ZERO substance - no date, no time, no place, NOT EVEN A YEAR, and not one single person who ever remembered Ford at a party with Kavanaugh --EVER. Sullivan is full of beans making even the remotest trace of an equivalency between a pure fabrication and an accusation which has at least, time, place, known association, multiple person told about events at the time.

The way we determine who to believe is to look at the circumstances of the accusation, the credibility of the accuser and accused, and the motives each party might have to lie. Unlike Blasey Ford, Tara Reade was specific in the circumstances, the documented fact that she worked for Biden and had frequent contact with him, the day, time, and acts that occurred, and the fact that these were independently corroborated by others she told at the time. The fact that her mother called Larry King about the incident is contemporaneous confirmation of her story. Tara Reade has lead a normal responsible life, is not described by anyone of being a liar or making false charges about others for neurotic personal reasons. Joe Biden, on the other hand, is a professional politician who has denied or obfuscated numerous actions that were found to be true including his dropping out of a presidential run for plagiarism. Tara Reade did not use blackmail or other subterfuge to leverage her charges for personal gain but made them publicly because of a sense of responsibility about his impending candidacy. She has no reason to lie and is taking enormous risk coming forward with this. Joe Biden has a significant reason to lie and refuses to allow his public Senate papers to be examined for corroborating evidence. His use of the phrase, "This never happened" suggests a conflict in his consciousness between what he knows and what he must say. Given the facts in evidence and the relative motives of the people involved a reasonable person must find her story to be more credible than his denial. This can not be said of the vague and uncorroborated suppressed memories of Blasey Ford in the Kavanaugh case.

I was driving down I95 all day with the radio on and I listened to the interview. Remember, during the Clinton administration, how we learned to parse the words of demonrat politicians? Well, one thing about Biden’s statements jumped out at me. He kept saying, “It never happened.” as if he was at a remove from the assault and could have been talking about almost anything. He never said, “I didn’t do it.” Which makes me think more than ever that he DID do it, he knows he did it and he’s trying to set up some form of deniability.

I saw the denial. An innocent person would be just plain spitting mad to be falsely accused. He would certainly question the accuser's motives for damaging him and his family and he'd want to get to the bottom of things with a complete investigation. Kinda like Brett Kavanaugh in front of the senate when he had his say. Biden did none of that. Didn't question her motives. Didn't attack her. Just please lets make it go away...

Andrew Sullivan's bottom line, from the article: he'll still vote for Biden. "Biden does mean I’ll be voting for a hypocrite who wants to ruin others’ young lives for what he has routinely and with impunity done. I can live with that, I suppose. And it won’t, of course, be the first time. Or, in all likelihood, the last." Because Trump!

The good news is that you might get out of future jury duty, because when you are asked under oath about your own biases during a federal criminal case jury selection you would have to answer honestly by responding, “Your Honor, I don’t trust a damn thing anyone in the FBI says.” If the heirs of Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., were to go up on the stand and testify, the recent disgraceful revelations about how their bosses tried to frame LTG Mike Flynn mean you would be entirely correct to grant them the same credibility as the dude caught wearing a black cape, a Lone Ranger mask, and a nametag

The unsealing last week of a series of documents in the Michael Flynn criminal case cemented the reality that a small cadre of high-level FBI agents set a perjury trap for President Trump’s then-national security advisor. Beyond exposing the depth of this despicable personal and political hit job on a 30-year military veteran, the newly discovered documents hold great legal significance. Here’s your legal primer. The Russiagate special counsel’s office charged Flynn with violating 18 U. S. Natural gas is withstanding the coronavirus-fueled economic crash in a way that its closely associated relative, oil, isn’t. Oil prices have reached record lows, with the U.S. benchmark oil price briefly dropping below zero last month after trading at around $60 per barrel at the start of 2020. The U.S. natural gas price, meanwhile, is stable, staying below $2 per million British thermal units, or MMBtu, a historically low level it has been hovering at for a while due to a glut produced from the shale boom. Oil producers are shutting in their wells, prompting tens of thousands of layoffs, because the pace of the price collapse was so sudden,

Brett Kavanaugh was a very difficult Supreme Court nominee for liberals to oppose. He had a stellar reputation, an impeccable record, and a genial disposition. While members of the Resistance held a protest on the steps of the Supreme Court minutes after President Trump announced him as the pick to replace retiring Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy, their early efforts to keep him off the bench showed little promise. All that changed in mid-September 2018, when the Washington Post carefully packaged and presented Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh had tried to rape her when she was in high school. The media and Democrats immediately latched onto the accusation

Willie Nelson may be the most important figure in country music history; if he’s not, only Hank Williams matters more. Willie’s also one of the most important musical artists in American history, a first-name-only giant like Elvis and Ella. The contours of the career that brought him to those heights are familiar. There was the huge, early-sixties success writing songs like “Crazy” and “Hello Walls” for big country stars, then the failed attempt to become one himself over the rest of the decade, his talents an ill fit for a stiff Nashville mold.

As leaders prepared the public for what would turn into widespread shutdowns of business and leisure activities, they made it abundantly clear that the point was to “flatten the curve” of growth in coronavirus cases. That is, when it was clear that the virus could not be contained, the strategy shifted to an effort to space out inevitable infections over a longer period, so there were as few cases as possible at the peak. The idea was to prevent the number of cases from exceeding the capacity of the hospital system and thus saving the system from collapse.

Preparing for a hog hunt is like preparing for the end of the world. You need a reliable rifle and ammunition, of course, but you also need a bunch of other stuff—a sidearm, maps, binoculars, compass, flashlight, knife, raingear, boots, food and water, two-way radios. Once you’re all geared up, you can’t help but think that if the end came, you’d be ready. The feeling is even more intense when you go hog hunting during a global pandemic. It might not be the apocalypse, but when it comes to buying guns and ammo—or toilet paper—it might as well be. I know, because I recently went on a hog hunt in East Texas.

When the postmortem is done on the media’s coverage of COVID-19 (and it will be), it will be clear that the virus was no Black Plague — it’s not even the flu on a bad year. SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, has killed 56,749 Americans as of Tuesday. That’s not good. But it’s not as bad as the 2017-2018 flu season, when 80,000 -plus perished. And it’s a long cry from what all the experts were warning about just a few weeks ago: First, they predicted 1.7 million Americans dead; then they redid the models (this time apparently entering a few more “facts”) and said 100,000-240,000 dead.
