Why Can't We Go To the Hairdresser?

The cynic in me thinks the press will urge a nationwide lockdown unless and until a Democrat sits in the White House at which time they will take a harder look at the diminishing Covid-19 fatalities and the increasing cost of the lockdowns. In the meantime frustrated, increasingly broke Americans are asking what happened to such rights as free speech, assembly, worship, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures, right to bear arms, right to due process in criminal cases and privacy.

How do we square the Bill of Rights with the emergency shutdown orders?

I cannot see where the federal gov''t has a constitutionally compelling reason to make sure we all don't get sick. Not overwhelming the hospitals IS arguably reason for lockdown, but not a further shutdown of all we do. If gov't can move to protect us from illness - then it can compel all sorts of things in the name of our individual health and life choices.

Why aren't cashiers at Wal Mart, Target, Home Depot, liquor stores and convenience stores dropping like flies? If these "essential" workers are ok, why aren't "non-essential" workers allowed to work?

I'm a guy. I have hair. I have a regular hair cutter. She has our contact info. Had a haircut 2 days ago. She does house calls and gave my wife a trim while she was here. Take your shutdown order and stuff it. We are all sick and tired of your BS Mayor Sylvester Turner.

I for one have been amused watching the male and female news people hair askew, slicked and matted down, lacking beautiful highlights and waves and curls, sticking out from behind the ears, fluffing out on top and sides. Little human chia pets of all shapes and sizes.

A hair stylist in our area made the top of the news cast by Demanding all hair salons be kept closed, She prattled on about cutting hair being a death trap, etc.. Not surprisingly they did not give equal time to those who are more than ready and willing to cut someone's hair.

You CAN go to the hairdresser, if she is willing and you keep it quiet. Or she can come to you, better yet. There may be some things you can't do, such as eat out, but there is much you can do. Walk the dog, the long way. No dog? Pretend you had one and you are looking for it. All sorts of excuses will work. Just go ahead and do it! (After all, there are no actual laws against it.}

My guy is cutting hair anyway just to pay his rent on his business. We have to sneak in the back door, pay cash, and park in the back out of sight of the road just to get our hair cut. It's just ridiculous. Wear masks. Not only is closing hair places stupid, but I'm still trying to figure out why golf courses are closed.

Trump had the authority to do so, since he could claim national security. And he was given the authority by congress, and to some extent the governors. But, when it was apparent that it was fizzling out in all states but NY/CA/NJ, he should have ordered a reopening of the nation with limited exceptions, like quarantine of the retirement homes, and that sort of thing. Keeping us shut down right now is beyond ridiculous and Trump just needs to stop with the dithering. Let the press howl. They will anyway. The Commissars acting as governors are ruining this nation, and it is all by design. How is Trump stopping that also not in the national best interests? The best interests of the nation trump the states rights, and no amount of wishing on the part of the media and democrats is gonna make that go away. I find it highly hypocritical of the news anchors to not have their hair done. They have make up people, why not have those folks do a quick trim while they are at it?

The French movie Hiroshima Mon Amour is based on human memory and forgetfulness as recounted by two lovers. The tale of the congresswoman who calls herself Ilhan Omar is a tale of an anti-Semite bred-in-the-bone corruptocrat whose rise in political power rests very largely on complicity by the media’s airbrushing of her history because they thought this physically attractive African Moslem “refugee” was just the ticket to defeat Donald Trump. The media counts on our forgetfulness and ignorance.

When Obama didn’t like a court order, he ignored it. In fact , he exceeded the constitutional bounds of his office at least 10 times, notes Ilya Shapiro. He did it in intervening in Libya without even notifying Congress; in subverting creditors’ rights in the Chrysler bailout; in his administration’s implementation of ObamaCare; In the political profiling by the IRS; in illegally appointing three members of the NLRB and the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Board when Congress was not in recess; in directing “the Department of Homeland Security to issue work and residence permits” to the so-called Dreamers (Deferred Action to Childhood Arrivals);

Life is too short to spend it on phony debates when you can see the highlights in videos and read the text of the remarks. The word peddlers are each picking their claims as to who won. The more critical observers suggest that I was right not to bother. Apparently Julian Castro thought transwomen have a right to an abortion. (Perhaps after taxpayers pay for them to have a uterus transplant): HOLT: Secretary Castro, this one is for you. All of you on stage support a woman’s right to an abortion. You all support some version of a government health care option.

In common parlance, a made man is someone whose path to success was greased by circumstances. It also refers to someone formally inducted as a full member of a criminal outfit -- the Mafia. In the political atmosphere in which Robert Mueller was born, he, like John Kerry, was virtually assured of a prestigious place in society: He was a tall white man with a hatchet jaw who (like his classmate Kerry) went to an expensive private school – St. Paul’s -- and came from a well-connected and well-off family.

That’s the title of a great song in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and that, it occurs to me, is an appropriate song for the media and the Democrats. For two years they vigorously promoted -- for their amusement and political benefit -- a fake Russian collusion story and now must watch it unravel and boomerang on them, their allies and the miscreants who created it. They had their fun, and the denouement has begun.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) didn't criticize President Trump by name on Tuesday night, but he did share his disappointment with the federal government's initial response to the coronavirus outbreak, saying the speed of it "looked slow compared to other people. That first phase will not stand out as a great moment in American leadership. We didn't look real strong, and that's kind of an understatement." He made his remarks during a video chat with Georgetown University students, The Washington Post reports. Romney had a weak relationship with Trump prior to voting for one of the two articles of impeachment against him

A study released Monday by the Boston-based Pioneer Institute reveals a historic drop in national reading and math scores among U.S. students since the adoption of the Common Core Curriculum Standards a decade ago. “Nearly a decade after states adopted Common Core, the empirical evidence makes it clear that these national standards have yielded underwhelming results for students,” said Pioneer executive director Jim Stergios in a statement. “The proponents of this expensive, legally questionable policy initiative have much to answer for.” The study, titled “The Common Core Debacle” and authored by education policy researcher Theodor Rebarber, asserts the “shocking trends” in American student performance in critical math and reading skills

The news about Joe Biden has taken on a completely surreal quality. For a long time, the headlines were about his declining mental state, which is becoming hard to ignore. This was bizarre enough in a presumptive Democrat candidate for the presidency. Then, Tara Reade dropped a bombshell, alleging that the same politician known for publicly groping and sniffing women and children had sexually assaulted her. The media assiduously ignored Reade's allegations as long as they could and eventually reported on them only to dismiss both Reade and the allegations. The media’s worst nightmare came true, though

President Donald Trump’s legal counsel, Rudy Giuliani, in a recent chat on “The Cats Roundtable” on New York AM 970 radio, suggested a good U.S. attorney general move about now would be to investigate key members of the past Barack Obama administration on the Wuhan, China, laboratory, to see what they knew and when they knew it. And then he mentioned Dr. Anthony Fauci specifically. And then he accused the prior Team Obama of sending $3.7 million to the lab in 2014 — at a time when that same Team Obama had banned the funding of any lab that was involved in virus experimentation.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that the coronavirus pandemic “would be a terrible crisis to waste” by not creating “universal health care.” Clinton, the Democratic Party nominee in the 2016 presidential election, was speaking to former Vice President Joe Biden in a virtual women’s “town hall” meeting, during which she endorsed him for president. Biden nodded in agreement as Clinton spoke about exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to bring about the left’s dream of “universal health care”: This is a high-stakes time, because of the pandemic. But this is also a really high-stakes election.
