What are we waiting for? The question can be posed in either a wild, irresponsible way — or a sane, measured way. In New York, our “pause” will continue until at least May 15, and New Yorkers are asking, in a measured, sane way: What exactly are we waiting for?
In the beginning, we had a goal: to flatten the curve. We were warned that COVID-19 would overtake our hospitals and cause a health-system collapse. We were to stay home to give our medical heroes a fighting chance.
So we did, and thanks to the strength of our system,

Till there is a Democrat in the White House! That is the real answer. Rest is just garbage.

They've moved the goalposts.
Originally, the goal was, "Not to Overwhelm the hospitals and healthcare system."
Now, the goal is "Nobody Dies."
Of course, that's an impossible goal since about 7,000 people in the U.S. die every day of various causes and Covid-19 is being ascribed as the COD if the patient died WITH Covid-19 rather than FROM Covid-19.

FTA: Are we waiting for deaths to fall below a certain daily number? What is that number? Are we waiting for hospitalizations to evaporate? For better treatment? For a vaccine? Antibody tests? Herd immunity?
The ending of the article sums it up.

"Saving" one elderly patient's life by preventing a COVID-19 death has value -- it adds about 1000 useful days of living.
But locking down 100 peoples' lives for 100 days has a cost -- degrading the value of each day by 10% causes a loss of about about 1000 useful days
So the lock-down of everyone in America (causing a loss of 3.3 billion useful days) is only cost-effective if more 3.3 million COVID-19 deaths are prevented.
3.3 million deaths are way above any estimate, so our policy of lock-down is (quite simply) not cost effective.

Lockdown much longer may lead to a recession, which could have far greater consequences than a sensible opening of the economy and people returning to work. Free the healthy!

How long?
Virginia's Governor Blackface, the post birth abortion pediatrician, says TWO YEARS, until December 31, 2021.

Why aren't more businesses demanding to reopen? These state orders are interfering with interstate commerce without any further basis. There is no longer any threat to the the health-care system. Hospitals are even starting to lay off staff. How about a few lawsuits that the feds can join?

Politicians think we are all stupid sheep who can’t find our own elbows unless they tell us where it is. They don’t trust us to be responsible citizens. We are increasingly trusting them less to lead us out of this. They need to get their act together.

Why the widespread position that we may never go back to normal? People parroting the employed experts?
We always go back to normal: HiNi, 1918 Flu, Bird, Hong Kong, Swine etc. Unless it means drones patrolling the streets and homes, CV 19 'Immunity Cards', taking a number to enter a store, no lawn sales, no childrens' play dates........ I'm up to here. ( hand level at eye height)
And ammo is in short supply.

This Is Stupid. This is BULLSHIT.
Where was all the hysteria when H1N1 was killing us when Obama was President????? Compared to H1N1, Covid-19 is a milder version of a bad flu, but no more. President Trump is so outnumbered by bureaucrats he really needs help to root out all the unelected flunkies who "know whats best for us."

But, New Yorkers, the goal to flatten the curve was just an opportunity for your corrupt governor and New York mayor to ride dirty. They're liars; just say it, and shout it from the rooftops; you'll feel much better.

Time to end this in most of the country. The reality is that this has always primarily been a NYC problem. NYC has had over 50% of the deaths, all the way through, or in a small area right around NYC, with significant "sharing" as New Yorker's who were infected bailed out to south Florida and other areas "to escape the virus". But they actually just spread the virus. 60% of Florida's cases are in Broward and Dade counties (around Miami) where the number of New Yorkers is huge.
Let the rest of us just go back to normal, NOW. My county hasn't had a single hospitalization in four or five days, only 5 in the last 10 days. We only have 51 Wuhan flu patients in our hospitals now, out of 600,000 people in our county.
Time to end it.

#8 - It's not that politicians think we are all stupid sheep who can’t find our own elbows unless they tell us where it is... but they do know that a significant number are, maybe even a majority.
First came the hysteria, then the compliance with orders. The public gave its collective lives to these people, based on faulty models running bogus information and interpreted by "experts" with a deep motivation for "scientific recognition", if not fame and fortune.
And now they want their lives back? Fat chance.

New York canceled its primaries on 6/23 so the lockdown will last until then. Likely longer considering how the Democrats of New York have politicized the pandemic. Have to wonder if they will cancel the general election in November.
How long would it take the United States to stop being a Democracy? The answer is two years since we have federal elections every two years. Every two years. And then all of a sudden, no election. The pandemic would make a good excuse.

Most of New York probably could open for business. Unfortunately, Andrew Cuomo wants to treat upstate NY the same as the NYC metro area. Tese are two completely different worlds and are having two completely different experiences with COVID-19. A county by county approach to reopening the state would make a lot of sense. Unfortunately, by reopening even a part of the state, Governor Cuomo would be showing that a lot of his hysteria was unnecessaey theatrics to make himself look good, Pres. Trump look bad, and extract more money for New York.
