We often ascribe a basic level of humanity to even the cruelest leaders, but People’s Republic of China leader Xi Jinping’s actions have forced us to rethink this assumption. Although the emergence of the novel coronavirus now known as SARS-CoV-2 was probably not due to China’s actions, the emphasis that its authoritarian system places on hiding bad news likely gave the disease a sizable head start infecting the world. But most ominously, China’s obsession with image and Machtpolitik raises serious questions about its lack of moral limits.
At some point the Chinese Communist Party learned of the epidemic and made a decision to hide its existence, hoping it went away.

Well he sure did nothing to stop it. He could have informed the world and stopped flights into Italy and any other country.
I wonder if he even said anything to his buddy at WHO, who is just as guilty as Xi Jinjinping

Yes, yes he did. The world needs to financially punish China for this.
If America had done this the world wide outrage and demand for financial reparations would be deafening.
If I had my way we would have nuked China 2 weeks ago.

These people are so barbaric it makes my skin crawl!! And yes, they need to be held accountable whether it was intentional or not. And bring the manufacturing of vital products back to America, pronto! Things like pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

Maybe, maybe not, but never forget, China is our enemy. Even if YOU do not think China is your enemy, China thinks all Americans are their enemies.

Well if he did, that would be an act of war. Who wants to go first... anyone?

I am sure that Putie also gave his signal of approval to Xi to proceed.

Also keep in mind that Xi locked down Wuhan way back in December while allowing air travel to the USA until Trump shut it down.

I am absolutely positive that the virus originated in the Wuhan virus laboratory,
Whether it was intentional or accidental, Xi sure did downplay the pandemic to the world, continued to allow potentially contaminated people to leave Wuhan, and basically hid the dangers to the world.
It might have been an intentional virus attack by China, as Xi has been getting absolutely hammered by Trump during the trade negotiations. He lost face, big time, in China.
BUT, I do not think it was intentional. Mainly because the Chinese have not pressed the case during the pandemic. They could have annexed Taipei, or militarized their artificial islands. They did nothing during the pandemic that would suggest the virus release was intentional

I'd answer by saying, "Is the pope Catholic?" but as a cradle Catholic I've got my doubts about the validity of that line now.

I really have no reason to believe it was not turned loose deliberately. Wondering what's next.

A mystery worth investigating.
Of equal interest is the number of Chinese dead in this pandemic.
Based on cell phone accounts that have disappeared, could be 20,000,000.
INSCRUTABLE: incapable of being investigated, analyzed, or scrutinized; impenetrable.

Don't forget this is the same country that turned its tanks on its own people in Tiennemann Square. At the very least they covered up CV instead of warning the world. They have no regard for human life. Their policies reflect that. Their actions have killed thousands of people, and collapsed the global economy. If Xi thought this was a good idea, he needs better advisers and needs to listen to them. There will be consequences. What good are cheap Chinese goods when China causes pandemics?

Why.
China makes almost all of our electronics. They changed part numbers under the watchful eye of our overseers.
We can not fix much of the products because I tried to order a light emitting diode. I had to order 10000 of them
Who is smart now?
Who does not want to rock the boat against America.

#15, Yes, I've seen that number of phone accounts suddenly just gone. Seems that the ChiComs missed one way to know how many really died.
1,500,000,000 people...20 million is 1.3% of their population.
If their medical systems are/were overwhelmed, which seems likely at those high numbers, perhaps the "no modern health care" death rate is much higher and only a fraction of the population is infected.
It will be years before the truth leaks out.
