Bob King, 62, is a little bored these days.
That’s because his business, B & R Lawn Care in Ferndale, has been shuttered since Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s first stay-at-home order last month. King, who runs his company with his son, has about 100 clients and four full-time employees — more during peak summer and winter months.
This is the time of year when he’s usually busy cleaning up the vestiges of winter and prepping yards for mowing.
No such luck this spring.
King, like hundreds of other small business owners around Michigan, had been hoping the governor would ease some of her restrictions on business operations

Go ahead and do your yard work. Take sensible precautions but are you seriously going to let the government stop you from engaging in LEGAL commerce?
If you screw up and somebody gets sick they can sue you. That's what civil courts are for. So don't screw up.
Criminal courts have no right to restrict you if you are not breaking any LAWS.

Here in Ohio my lawn guy had to convince the state that he was necessary and I'm sure glad he did as I'm 87 and have a hard time riding a mower for over 1/2 an hour.

These "leaders" get to show off their "leadership skills".
Time to replace these fools with someone who has a clue, or can at least hire one. Clearly she can't do either.

Lucky for me and about 100 other neighbors, lawn care is an essential service. I am behind closed doors, but I can look out upon a well-coiffed lawn.

She's a Democrat or a Dimwit as we call'em. She is enjoying her fifteen minutes of fame even if it is not good. Democrats like telling others what they can or cannot do. Bunch of evil hypocrites!

How absolutely asinine is this! I get my lawn cut once a week. And lawn are company spreads weed killer. The ban on lawn care is a power grab. I love Michigan Go up north all the time. It’s beautiful. That gov. Should keep it that way.

I hope Michigan law provides for the recall of a governor, since Witless has earned it!

Again, you get what you vote for. Hard to feel sorry for the majority who voted for her. Maybe next time.

These dictatorial flourishes are Gov. Blucher's way of auditioning for that Veep slot that Uncle Joe promised.

am I understanding this correctly? If I live ibn Michigan, I can mow my own lawn, but I can't hire someone to do it? WTF?
Governor Whitmer is a dunce - a perfect running mate for the Delaware Dunce...
Governor Wolf of Pennsylvania, an annoying little guy, banned any kind of dental treatments, including emergency dental treatments, until it was explained to him that a person with a bad toothache would be limited to going to a hospital emergency room for relief, where they would have no choice but to prescribe opiods.
So the little Governor Wolf he relented. Even someone as clueless as Wolf is, realized how idiotic his original order was.
whitmer seems beyond help. But she might be able to ride her lady parts to a VP nomination.

Spring came early to East Texas, so me and my home-bound college student son are already needing to start on our fifth mowing and weed-eating of our yard and front pasture. Before cleaning our equipment, my son has been doing our elderly neighbor's yard but doesn't charge them. In return, they let my son fish in their large, stocked pond. So far, Gov. Abbott has refrained from making neighborly acts a criminal offense.

Spring? What's that? Lawn care? Where's the lawn? Here in Minnesota we're getting a healthy snowfall right now, albeit beautiful. :-)

To defeat Whitmer you would need to remember that people in and around Detroit would vote enthusiastically for her, possibly 100% of the people living in the area, perhaps even more. Remember the 2016 recount, when they quit recounting when they discovered some really unusual things about the voting in the area? And in big cities in a couple of other states as well. The democrats have an incredible get out the vote machine - or instead of incredible perhaps the correct word is impossible or unbelievable or preposterous?

Gov. Whitmer is disastrous, Not only is she ruining the lawn care and plant nursery small businesses she has banned the selling of vegetable seeds (!). Also, for some strange reason the selling of U,S, flags is also included in her ban. As a Michigander, I am appalled. The big Michigan cities (think Detroit, Flint, the U of M Ann Arbor areas) voted for her while the outlying areas remained conservative. The Southfield, MI city clerk currently faces six felony election tampering/fraud charges (in favor of you know what party), She is not the only one. The November election is going to have to be watched very carefully here.
