A widely shared, four-person-bylined, “wow”-provoking New York Times story today informs us that Donald Trump is personally benefiting from his “aggressive advocacy” of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine because he owns stock in one of the companies that manufacture the drug.
The story might be one of the most ridiculous articles published by mainstream media in the Trump era — though, admittedly, the field is highly competitive. But while knee-jerk anti-Trumpism is expected, the angry obsession over the president’s championing of hydroxychloroquine is uniquely ugly.
For one thing, and I realize this might be difficult for some people to comprehend, it’s plausible, even likely, that Trump advocates for chloroquine

The medical profession, led by the AMA, has a long-established orthodoxy. One of its purposes is the safeguard the financial interests of the profession. Yes, simple, effective treatments for many conditions are sometimes frowned up, or more. Of course, in one form or another, this is a common reality for other businesses, unions, and other organizations.

The more reaction I see against this drug, the more I realize it must be working.

Had Obama pushed the drug, the media would be swooning over his brilliance at recognizing something that hadnt been studied yet.
If Trump suggested that asprin was good for headaches, we would have 24/7 coverage demonstrating that Trump isnt a doctor and well.....you shouldnt take asprin....because.
If Trump suggested that milk was good for babies, he would be labled an idiot and PETA would demonstrate.

Could it be because BIG PHARMA is suppressing its use. But why would they do that? IF real real life results Worldwide (also known as anecdotal evidence) shows it can be very effective, could there be some other reason why the CDC, and the FDA, the WHO, and the NIH is saying don't use it? And who buys advertising time on TV,in newspapers, and magazines? Does Big Pharma donate to these orgs and aren't all these Government agencies basically Industry Trade Groups?
The drug's patent has expired! The drug's patent has expired! And the MSM is in big pharma's pocket due to advertising revenues.
I believe there are other Political, cover-up, and self promotion issues involved in this mess as well. A lot of that, was after the fact, because why let a good crisis go to waste. I'm incensed about what this has done to our Country and the futures of my children and Grandchildren. I'm guessing the backlash, when it comes out will be huge......against Big Govt (regardless of party), the MSM, and the profiteers.

It's not big pharma suppressing the news. I have a sister as well as a brother and his wife who are rabid liberals. They only watch MSNBC for their news. They won't even watch a local Fox station for news / weather(which is critical in FL). The three of them knew nothing about hydroxyquinolone until late last week when I checked in with them. At first they were resistant saying "...that's the drug Trump is pushing...there is no evidence..." I had to send them multiple articles to show them what was happening and finally they agreed to demand it if they test positive. As background, my brother has pneumonia every winter for the past 7 years and sister has always suffered with asthma. They literally would have turned this down and died just to spite Trump until I finally convinced them otherwise. Scary!

Democrats wonder why they are losing, and people increasingly support President Trump. This is one very big reason. Democrats make people angry! President Trump offers optimism.

Hydroxycholorquine (brand name Plaquenil) is a decent choice because:
1. There is some anecdotal evidence it works.
2. It has a known safety profile -- over 70 years of experience
3. It's cheap. It's been a generic since 1996. My wife just refilled her Rx for her RA nedicine and it cost under $6 for 30 pills. The insurance companies are putting a few more hoops over getting new and refilled prescriptions, but I'm also thinking there is probably a run on inventory on this drug at this time, too.
I saw some rag had a note that Trump was poised to make lots of money with the use of Plaquenil because some trust he has owns a small amount of Sanofi (the branded manufacturer) stock, perhaps as little as $100. And that's on a drug that the manufacturer hasn't promoted since at least the late 1990s and does not feature in their corporate reports. Well, maybe he'll see his stock go up to $102.
Rep. Schiiff, call your office. Time for another impeachment hearing in the basement again!

Trump's businesses are shutdown, so he is not benefiting, in fact losing millions. It was not right to specifically exclude Trump's businesses from Treasury loan assistance. The left is making it so that business owners cannot run for office. For those that need this drug, there is nothing to lose by giving it a try.

The propagandists at the NYT know perfectly well that these allegations are ridiculous . They also know that up to half of the voters will believe the allegations because they are, well, stupid.

The festering, burning, burning, rotten, putrid hate inside of about 90% or more of the media has driven them over the edge on this very simple issue.
A well respected research doc in France tried a combination of chloroquine and azithromycin on something like 40 or 50 patients, and quickly reported his good results. Not a full, double blind scientific study, for sure but certainly useful information in a pandemic, when no other treatments are known. A bit of checking found that the drug is cheap, available, has been used for many decades for other things, and is known to have very few side effects. OK, so this is the first glimmer of a medical treatment to help very sick patients. That seems to be uncontroversial, even if, by normal standards, it is not fully proven to be effective by proper scientific tests - which take too long in the midst of a pandemic.
So, a hopeful President mentions that this new bit of information. He says he hope that it might work out to be a useful treatment, might save some lives. And he clearly states, "It might not work out".
And the Enemedia, in their festering, hateful rage, turn on the President, making every possible unhinged, stupid, sad, pathetic, nasty, and false claim and several governors in their unschooled, non-MD insanity actually ban doctors from even trying it. These people are all hateful lunatics of the first order, regardless of whether this particular treatment is eventually proven to help a little, help a lot or even be not useful for Wuhan flu.
The one true outcome is the uncovering of a huge cabal of disgusting, deranged haters in the media.
