SHANGHAI — As hospitals and governments hunt desperately for respirators and surgical masks to protect doctors and nurses from the coronavirus pandemic, they face a difficult reality: The world depends on China to make them, and the country is only beginning to share. China made half the world’s masks before the coronavirus emerged there, and it has expanded production nearly 12-fold since then. But it has claimed mask factory output for itself. Purchases and donations also brought China a big chunk of the world’s supply from elsewhere. Now, worries about mask supplies are rising. As the virus’s global spread escalates, governments around the world are restricting exports of protective gear, which experts say could worsen the pandemic.

Hard to find any kind of mask on the internet. Placed an order for one. So where is it coming from? China. Two weeks ago we were told not to wear masks. Maybe by the time I get my masks we will be back to no masks and I'll be busted as a hoarder.

While the democrats pretend China is our friend Trump treats them like the enemy they are. Move all of our supply chains out of China and diversify them as well, move critical supply chains back to the USA...think pharma, technology, etc. and incentivize the companies with tax breaks so they can pay decent wages while still making a profit. Then use the reduced revenue, as the politicians like to call it, to reduce the fat in government. The former federal workers won't have trouble finding a job but they WILL have to work for their money.

We are the United States of America. The country that produced planes during WWII in 55 minutes and had them tested and out of the factory doors in three days. China is about to realize how little we need them in the future. Bring it home and buy American.

The NY Times should be making masks, instead of making rags and bird cage liners! Everyone would be happier!

The Covid 19 virus' genetic sequence need to be reverse engineered to see if China could have produced it as a biological weapon. This is the Chinese Communist who are adored by our press and who threw out US reporters and in 1989 gunned down their young people by the 100s or 1000s, carried their bodies off and washed down the streets while trying to hid it from the rest of the world.

The USA can and does make masks. Everyone always wants to get everything cheaper, regardless of the consequences.
And then the "American" company 3M is shipping some out of the country.

China isn't HOARDING them. They need them. What they are not saying is that the bug is still at epidemic proportions there.

I do not accept these hoarding and price gouging complaints. What is happening is the complainers want to be moved to the front of the line, all other contracts and agreements pushed aside. They will put you to the front of the line, but you have to give them an incentive, like more money. Happens everyday. My computer breaks. I take it in, and they say week to 10 days. I say what if I pay an extra $25, and they say I can pick it up tomorrow.

The US must wean itself off of China and resolve never to do business with them in the future.

The lesson here is that we shouldn't depend on China for anything!!! We have sold our national security interests for cheap goods made by slave labor!!!
We need to go back to "made in America" on almost everything we sell in our stores!!!

Eventually we will discover that this epidemic is rampaging uncontrolled through China's medieval countryside, killing millions, and they are just covering it up.
Remember when they tossed out all the American reporters? Gee, I wondere why? Maybe because they knew it was loose and they would NEVER "get ahead of it", and it would just burn itself out eventually, with everyone in China either dead, or recovered. And the ChiComs do not care if millions die, not any sort of a problem for them except a PR issue to be suppressed.

#18, if people didn't post from the Slimes how would we know just how rotten and anti-American they are? Sort of a necessary evil.

we used to watch Shark Tank, but became disgusted with Mark Cuban, who berated participants looking for investment dollars, if they wanted to manufacture their product in the U.S. he would told them they were fools for not manufacturing in China. And that was back around 2010.
I remember one contestant who insisted that he would manufacture his product in Georgia, and talked about the number of jobs he would create. And Cuban laughed at him for being naive.

Maria Bartoromo on Fox mentioned that China bought 2.5 billion masks in January. China is the manufacturer of at least of half of the world's production. Are they trying to corner the market and cash in on the pandemic?
