From Sen. Bernie Sanders demanding that a coronavirus vaccine be free for all and that “profiteering” from it cannot be tolerated, to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who said “if everything we do saves just one life, I’ll be happy,” when he ordered the state to shut down, Democrats are demonstrating they don’t know how an economy works. This is as dangerous as it is maddening.
Though he is an open socialist, Sanders’ rant is typical of most if not nearly all of today’s Democrats. Their view of profit is that it is an evil that must not be allowed.

For a party that keeps telling us it's "for the children " and " If it saves one life" , they sure are big fans of abortion, or as I call it, murdering children.

Profit is a profoundly misunderstood word. Profit should be defined as "better off." When you go to work you don't just get paid for your gas and other costs of going to work only to come home with exactly the same wealth as when you walked out your door. You wouldn't have anything of value to make you "better off" so you could buy food, rent etc.
But when you are in business that "better off" part for having run your business is labeled profit. Doing things because we are better off for having done them is as essential to life as water.
The economically illiterate among us, a large majority I would suggest, are under the mistaken belief that our government has the ability to squeeze more out of us. Many of us who still believe that to be an option do not support it but I doubt many of us really have a grasp on the real economics.
If a cave dwelling society figures out that they can hunt and farm better if a few of their strongest protect the hunters and gatherers from raids by neighboring tribes they are better off for instituting a fledgling government with the tax of feeding the protectors. If everybody is guarding and nobody is gathering or hunting they all starve. Why is it that the Laffer curve and where we are on that curve isn't grasped by everyone before they get out of high school and head to their first election?
Our politicians clamor for more and more when the inevitable result of attempting to get more is less and less.

FTA: ''...today’s Democrats. Their view of profit is that it is an evil that must not be allowed.''
When the democrats start working for expenses only, eschewing any profit, they might have some credibility. However, they don't and won't, so they are just hypocrites.

When anyone says 'if it saves one life then it's worth it" or something along that line, I always ask, " And if it costs one life is it still worth it?".

COVID proves Americans don't understand the depths to which the UNIPARTY will go to dump Trump. Next Biden will be asking, "How's your 401(k) and IRA doin'?" And, "How's that unemployment rate in the Black Community?" Better yet, a Biden Rally draws as many as a Trump Rally these days. And Americans love that government cheese check coming...

The democrats understand Economics, it's just that their version of the topic is much different than ours. They should have all of the money but the people who make it by working or operating businesses should not. Bernie and his chubby little wife have three nice homes and haven't worked a day in their lives to have earned them. Socialism is just a natural progression from where they are now.
Cuomo's comment on saving a life would be hilarious if children weren't being legally murdered every day to protect a "woman's right," meaning, of course, securing a "woman's vote."

For Capitalists, profit is a word which refers to the reward provided to those who provide a good or service. Without profit the provision will cease. In that sense profit is moral and justifiable.
For Dems, profit is a word which refers to the increased political power obtained by having elected officials who are members of their party. This results in graft, bribery, and personal wealth. The wealth is not in exchange for providing a good or a service; it is provided in exchange for helping place more Dems in positions of authority.
This sort of profit explains why our Constitution established a Republic, not a democracy. In a Democracy politicians rule absolutely. And get rich.
Democracies give us Hitler, Stalin, Venezuela, North Korea, and other hell holes.
Hooray for the ballot box, especially one stuffed with fake ballots.

The article puzzles over why dems don't "get it" and explains, correctly, the realities of our economic system.
I would argue that many dems in leadership DO get it but it doesn't fit their goals so their narrative must denounce it and lie about the reasoning that they use. What is their goal? Power and control. A notion of people carrying out free economic exchange doesn't lead to power and control for dems so it is unacceptable. They know why it works, as laid out in the article. They have to lay out a counter theme that undermines it. The large company abusing it's labor force is a common meme. That may have been a problem a century ago. It is not today. There are laws against it and there is too much choice of jobs available.
The interesting thing is, the power and control that dems seek is what they falsely cast on most business owners. A good business owner seeks out good employees and treats them well. It's more profitable. Profits for the owner, stockholders, employees who may profit share and get raises, and for just about everyone else that interacts with the business. Power and control, for power and control's sake is usually BAD for business.
Not so for government as we have seen with the Deep State actors. Broad power allowed/allows them to do some seriously bad stuff. They don't have to worry about production or customers so there is little accountability. All they have to do is lie to the voters and THAT they are expert in. Until lately. Until Trump. THAT is why they hate him so comprehensively.

Of course they don't understand. The late George McGovern proved that in an interview he gave shortly before he passed several decades ago. He says that he wished Congress had more of a clue when it comes to how businesses function, how the economy works, and yet they sit in Chambers all day, making laws that hurt the businesses and economy. He got woke by trying to operate a B&B in his retirement and failing miserably. One of the few to ever admit Congress has no clue.

They are so ignorant and confused that they believe Marxism works. That is proof that they cannot grasp economics.
