Panic is foolish, yet our freedom is still broken and

As I watched the Prime Minister order mass house arrest on Monday night, I felt revulsion, anger and grief – as anyone brought up when this was a free and well-governed country would. I also felt terribly alone.
You could not have known, from anything broadcast that night or printed the following day, that anyone was unhappy with these events. But they were.
So, above all things this week, I would like to thank all the kind, perplexed people who have got in touch with me by so many means, to say they share my doubts about the Government’s handling of Covid-19.
Christopher Hitchens brother. I agree with the article and I'm very concerned. If they can't revoke the 2nd amendment, they'll neuter the 1st amendment right of the the people to peaceably assemble.

The calculus of Hobbesian decisions is always brutal. How many dead seniors, healthcare professionals, police officers, grocery workers, farmers, truck drivers, and other essential support workers are the elite willing to sacrifice to maintain their illusion of imperviousness to the laws of nature. Its amazing that these people can't put up with a few weeks or months of discomfort while whole segments of the population are risking their lives and that of their families to keep them comfy. These are the same people that resisted standing up to the Axis powers in WWII because they preferred the false comfort of isolationism.
The facts are that viruses follow iron clad rules of biology and until you can defeat them with therapies and vaccines the only weapon you have is distance. They aren't Superman and can't fly through the air so they are vulnerable to the natural immune responses of infected individuals as long as they can't find additional hosts.
Get over it and get with the program.

"I fear a British Donald Trump. I fear such a person will steal the slogans of the Right and the merciless, dishonest propaganda methods of the Left – as the US President has done." That's what Peter Hitchens wrote in the DM last year, predicting that the pro-Brexit slim majority would take revenge on the other half of the country. "AND worst of all, I fear that such a person, and his supporters, will bring our long age of free civilisation to an end."
Just to help calibrate Mr. Peter Hitchens' thought processes.

I'm angry. In a few weeks there will be a lot of angry people when they realize they have been lied to and harmed for little or no reason.

OK, I'm a Trump supporter, but even so, we are Americans and we are protected by our constitution, unless we allow it to be trampled. And, if they can do it now, they can do it tomorrow. After all, some are sheep and will believe anything they're told.

I really would like to know what these people would do if they were in charge? Being an armchair expert is one thing but actually having to make decisions is another. This virus is not something anyone really knows anything about and the damage it does is not good.

Donald Trump loves America- loves business- loves negotiating-
I would say we are hobbled, and when the virus stay at home is done.. we will scramble to make up time..
There are shifts in way school and business will be done- or looked at forever..
the crisis- manufactured or not- has revealed how heavy a hand certain sectors would rule..
Learn from this-

I, too, have been shocked at the ease with which the government has corralled the people. The stories about the neighbors informing on each other is absolutely chilling, but I can see it all around me in people’s “social distance” shaming of each other. “Just do what the government tells you, and it’ll be ok,” people tell themselves. No, it won’t be ok. It won’t ever be ok again. Now, the government at all levels knows how easy it is to make you WILLINGLY comply. Just apply the State of Fear principle. US deaths from Coronavirus: just over 2,000. People who have recovered from Coronavirus: just over 140,100. Do the math.

I totally agree with Mr Hitchens and have been saying much the same--and also from a well informed standpoint--for almost 2 weeks.
Yes that weasel Fauci was on TV today predicting 100,00 to 200,000 American deaths.
I wish he was the first one

England has its challenges now too. America's, ''Government,'' is ofcourse structured upon three separate Branches which, as we observe, also are not currently working together for the benefit of the country as a whole according to the Constitution. The Congress in particular is ignoring the oath of office, favoring partisan politics and selfish aggrandizement instead. They won't even defund PP, npr, the Kennedy Ctr. and countless other political policies during this time of more vital urgancies!
In contrast, Pres. Trump is addressing the current threat presented by this virus in every possible way and is encouraging each of us, as well as America's businesses, to do everything everyone can to help. The response has been powerful and is accomplishing much good. ...But you would never know it from the dems and their dominating media's scripted & choreographed skits which, in unison, ignore every positive action initiated by both the President, individual Americans, first responders and our businesses! If it weren't for word of mouth, conservative radio and the net, we would not have a clue regarding the facts. The networks and NPR are worse than worthless these days. They are nothing but microphones for radical political leftists. We dare not fall for the destructive Pelosi dem spiel on this side of the pond!

This is so obviously a hoax that I can't believe the whole world is believing it. I don't think Trump does but he got pushed into a corner of either handling it the way he did or being called out by the world leaders for killing Americans. The way you can tell how this is not a pandemic is to count the number of flu deaths in the same period of time. When this all started, there were already 18,000 flu deaths this season. I really think some of the deaths attributed to corona are actually more flu deaths. The truth will come out eventually and yes people have died, but they always do with any illness. It's sad but it's a fact of life.
