How Donald Trump Has Turned
the Pandemic to His Advantage

Covid-19: The Reality Show has taken cable TV by storm. The plot is nominally about a war against an invisible Chinese invader that has already killed over 1,200 Americans. But on another level, it is a family sitcom, a successor to Ozzie and Harriet, Leave It to Beaver, and The Cosby Show. The star is Daddy Donald, a brilliant if erratic father figure, who sometimes rambles on, as fathers are wont to do. He is ably supported by his younger brother, Uncle Mike, who is loyal, steady, competent, and boring. With every strand of his snow-white hair perfectly in place, Uncle Mike always says the right thing.

Too clever by half. Bad Conclusion that polling success is because of the TV reality show rather than the policies. Leadership is the cause of that success. TV briefings are only icing on the cake.

He turned the pandemic to his advantage by doing his job, doing it well, and doing it so visibly that the media can't deceive the public about it.

The problem for President Trump's opponents, wherever they may be, is that they attack him as if he is a politician- as though he has risen through the political system. A mistake. President Trump is not intimidated, or even impressed by political hacks. He is a man of action who despises the bureaucratic morass of government, and it's associate red tape. He doesn't hide behind insincere conversations or oratory. He speaks plainly and truthfully. If it ruffles feathers, too bad. He refuses to play their political games and they hate him for it!

Actually, I thought it was a clever analogy of just how the doctors are behaving! I don’t agree with the idea that the president is unpredictable. He is shrewd, knowing just when to accept new information and act on it. Many, many times he has been way ahead of the media’s current knowledge, forcing them to constantly retract statements. He has miraculously put a spotlight on many faulty and corrupt areas of the government. The general public has been shown the many ugly sides of the deep swamp. # MAGA

Frankly, this is yet another iteration of what Trump has been doing since the beginning. Trump has been omnipresent, sucking all the oxygen out of the room, being a bit brash and bold, and in the face of media and dems and getting free residence in their heads. Behind the scenes, Trump is running a ruthlessly effective and efficient operation with frequent displays of brilliance and a talent to find people who can deliver. Beyond that, Trump knows who his audience is, people. He knows that people are a mix of rationality and emotion and works to appeal to both through a seemingly effortless blending of being a showman and a businessman. This article covers the showman side and Trump knows that better than almost anyone else.

Imagine still being so bitter over the 2016 election that you use the tragic, lost lives of Americans to attack the man who beat you. Imagine being Hillary Clinton. The former Democratic presidential nominee took to Twitter to attack President Trump over the fact that the United States now has the world’s highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases. (Note: This raw number is kind of a useless statistic — we are not the highest when you look at cases relative to population size.) Over 2,000 U.S. citizens have died from the virus, but Clinton decided to make light of that fact to dunk on Trump.

Remember, we have to believe all women…except when it’s a liberal like Bad Touch Biden who is doing the grabbing, in which case she’s either a lying tramp who wanted it or she simply doesn’t exist. You know, all these differing rules about how we are supposed to react to #MeToo stuff seems really complex and difficult, since they change based on the ideology of the alleged pervert, but it’s really simple if you just understand one simple thing. The liberal outrage is all a lie and a scam. They don’t give a damn about women getting treated like garbage. Not even a little.

Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of the conservative Job Creators Network, didn’t recognize the number on his ringing cellphone, so he didn’t answer. The voicemail surprised him. It was Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin, who was seeking his input as the Trump administration and Congress scrambled last week to assemble a $2 trillion package to fight the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. “I thought it was actually a scam call,” Mr. Ortiz said. “I listened to the voicemail, and it was like, ‘Hey, Alfredo, this is Steven, you know, the Treasury secretary, just trying to get a hold of you. Give me a buzz back when you get a chance.’”
France Issues Rallying Calls to ‘Buy French’

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has called on his countrymen to buy domestic products as the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak cripples the European single market. Describing his approach as “economic patriotism,” he urged French supermarkets to ‘stock French products.’ The call didn’t go unheard. Following the minister’s remarks on Tuesday, the trade body representing French supermarkets vowed to stock up shelves exclusively with fruits and vegetables produced within France once the foreign products run out, the newspaper Les Echos reported. The French move comes at a time when the 27 member European Union single market faces a massive supply chain crisis in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Will the European Union be one of the casualties of COVID-19? The worldwide pandemic has dealt a dramatic and obvious blow to the liberal ideas of free trade and freedom of movement that inspired and were inspired by the EU. The openness that made it possible to travel and do business seamlessly across a continent has provided the virus with a cornucopia of vectors for transmission. If the refugee crisis of the mid-2010s put strengthened borders back on the continent's political agenda, the pandemic has made the case for hunkering down nationally as well as individually hard to dispute.

NORTH HAVEN, Maine—The ferry to the island of North Haven, Maine, has space for a dozen or so vehicles and 220 passengers. This past Saturday afternoon, there were just three passengers: a cable operator on his way to check the island’s Internet service, and a lobsterman and his sternman returning from a supply run. They made the 12-mile crossing inside their trucks, opting not to venture into the ferry’s empty passenger compartments. About 75 minutes later, they docked at the town landing where a single car waited to depart. Normally, this time of year, the 12:30 p.m. ferry runs about half full.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pennsylvania — It is early Sunday morning along one of the few congested stretches of the Lincoln Highway when an empty parking lot below the familiar cheery yellow sign for the local Waffle House catches the eye. The 24-hour diner chain, born in Atlanta 65 years ago and now spread across 25 states in nearly 2,000 locations, is primarily known for its ability to serve as a touchstone in every community it serves. It feeds a cult-like following among foodies and road warriors. But it is also known for two other very remarkable distinctions: It closes for no disaster, and the stores have no locks.

Back home in Oakland, Calif., Lisa Pezzino and Kit Center built a life that revolved around music and the people who make it — the musicians who recorded on Pezzino’s small label and performed in places where Center rigged the lights and sound equipment. Where they are now, deep in the redwood forest near Big Sur, 140 miles south along the California coast, there is mostly the towering silence of isolation. A tiny cabin, an outdoor kitchen, just one neighbor. This is life in the flight from the virus.

It is a given in politics that an incumbent has the advantage until things go wrong, at which point the challenger gets an edge. Then why, amidst panic, death and economic shutdown, is Joe Biden looking like the sick man of 2020? Biden’s predicament is odd considering a key pillar of Donald Trump’s presidency — record low unemployment — is being vaporized. Thursday’s 3.3 million new unemployment claims wiped out nearly half the jobs created in the last three years, and the worst is yet to come.

Prince Harry 'regretted' having to stand down from his role in the military, and felt 'forced into it' after stepping down from royal duties, a source has claimed. The Duke of Sussex, 35, who decided to step back from the limelight with Meghan Markle, 38, and 10-month-old Archie after being subjected to intense scrutiny which brought back painful memories of Princess Diana's death, is said to have been apologetic about giving up his post as Captain General of The Royal Marines. You’ve probably heard the expression those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach. A Rhode Island public school teacher perhaps gave that chestnut a new meaning by allegedly taking to Twitter with an offer to pay someone infected with COVID-19 to cough on President Trump. The educator in question, who has subsequently deactivated her Twitter account that purportedly operated anonymously under the handle “Proud Teacher,” is said to teach English as a Second Language to middle schoolers. She previously taught in neighboring Massachusetts. [Tweet] There is no indication as yet as to whether public school administrators will look into this matter further with an eye toward possible discipline.

Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle is Jewish, and it’s doubtful if they even know the meaning of the word “chutzpah,” but they’ve sure got it – and Trump was not amused.
