China claims coronavirus cases are a thing of the past, there are no new cases, and as Reuters touted the other day, has now begun its "return to normal." Here's normal: A huge protest march swept out of China’s Hubei province on Friday, with thousands of angry residents pouring across a bridge into neighboring Jiangxi province and clashing with police. The capital city of Hubei province is Wuhan, ground zero for the coronavirus pandemic. That's part of a comprehensive report from Breitbart describing the explosive state of unrest in China's big central province, based on Chinese citizen journalist reports

Unless Trump gets voted out, China will be the big loser in this mess. They have tanked the world economy so demand for their stuff will be down. And they have ticked off billions of people by causing the whole debacle.

Very interesting update by Monica. It would appear that there are still a number of westerners living in China who are reporting boots on the ground conditions to her. If the Chinese citizenry is already rioting over the government's poor treatment of them and lack of confidence in the government, sounds like the fuse has been lit for regime change. Wait until these same citizens lose their jobs, go broke, and run out of food. Then you will see some REAL riots. Xi and the Chinese Politburo, have their hands full. They won't be able to manage massive unrest Tiananmen Square style this time. When a billion and a half people start rioting all at the same time, Xi and his Politburo cronies had better be ready to leave and have Kimmie's cell number handy. This don't look good. But, let's hope China really does return to "normal".

The long term goal all along was to raise up the Chinese middle class and have them change their government from a godless, dog eating, communist one to a democratic one. Maybe this time that goal will be met.

Maybe it's time to drop the Soybean Bomb. Let's invent alternate use for soybeans--plastic, fabric, chemical compounds--to avoid hurting farmers and negotiate to keep sending them their manna.

Riots in Wuhan? China's President Xi already has a solution. Roll the tanks! They were willing to tank the global economy. How many of their own people would they kill/sacrifice to stay in power? Bet that number is extremely high.

Before President Trump’s State of the Union address in February, most Americans outside of Michigan had never heard of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. When she gave the Democrat response to Trump’s tour de force, she impinged ever so slightly on the popular consciousness before lapsing back into obscurity. Now, perhaps because she’s hoping to be the token woman Groping Joe Biden names as his Vice President, Whitmer is back in the media. It’s doubtful, though, that Americans will be impressed with a woman who has such a vendetta against the President that she’s willing to withhold life-saving medicine and to lie.

Now that Italy has recorded its 10,000th coronavirus death, a third of the global total, and nearly a thousand just yesterday, Italians are questioning the value of globalism, and more specifically asking what good its European Union membership does it. Sentiment is soaring for getting out and going it alone. Britain did it, why not Italy? Locals are now burning European Union flags, and Italian politicians are ramping up the talk about getting the heck out of the European Union altogether. I suspected this was going to happen during the Italian balcony singing event, noting that most of the songs sung were classical Italian songs, not global pop hits.

In February, China reported that chloroquine could fight coronavirus, which led to a burst of media optimism. However, when President Trump said he hoped that chloroquine might cure coronavirus, the media instantly turned on the drug. Unsurprisingly, the media were wrong. The lead doctor of the latest study on the drug says chloroquine is so helpful it would be unethical to deny it to control groups. (snip) The media reported on Dr. Fauci’s more cautious view as if he had said Trump was lying, instead of merely saying that there were still studies to be done. One Arizona outlet even called Trump’s optimism “bizarre, even delusional.”

While President Trump closed the US border against entry from China at the end of January, his overall instinct was right. The CCP virus was nasty, but no worse than a supercharged flu. Health professionals overwhelmed Trump and his inner circle with doomsday scenarios, bullied by panic obsessed virologists and epidemiologists -- begging for attention and copying the alarmist playbook from the climate/global warming extremists, allied with the MSM Trump-haters. And now the government has completely suffocated economic demand, creating a depression

Last Saturday, I wrote a blog that focused on Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House Coronavirus Task Force’s leading medical expert, and his long background, especially as he shepherded the government’s four decade long war on HIV-AIDS. The article touched a deep nerve, helping to inspire a Washington Post article that ran yesterday: "As Trump signals readiness to break with experts, his online base assails Fauci. A cadre of right-wing outlets is laying the groundwork for Trump to disregard experts on his own coronavirus task force." For a time on Friday, the article was the second-most read at the Post's website

As America teeters on the brink of a planned catastrophic economic collapse, it is time to rethink our response to the deadly coronavirus that is afflicting us. There has to be an exit strategy out of this national suicide attempt that is being accomplished through lockdowns and the imposition of quasi-martial law. Responsible, enlightened governance requires tradeoffs that don’t look like one-size-fits-all collective punishment imposed from above. We got to this place because wildly overstated projections by monomaniacally focused experts stampeded policymakers into ordering draconian crackdowns on the general population, instead of focusing on the most vulnerable

The COVID-19 pandemic can be used to illustrate two problems that are both more destructive than the virus. The problems relate to how Americans view the role of government in their lives and to the belief that government money can always fix problems. Let's look at the money issue first. The immediate reaction of our government to the virus threat was to spend massive amounts of money. (snip) Has self-reliance been replaced by acceptance of dependence? Prince Harry 'regretted' having to stand down from his role in the military, and felt 'forced into it' after stepping down from royal duties, a source has claimed. The Duke of Sussex, 35, who decided to step back from the limelight with Meghan Markle, 38, and 10-month-old Archie after being subjected to intense scrutiny which brought back painful memories of Princess Diana's death, is said to have been apologetic about giving up his post as Captain General of The Royal Marines. Whatever you think about President Trump and his response to this global pandemic that sparked from a Chinese “wet market” selling wildlife, you cannot exactly be heartened to behold the response offered by Democrats. The party’s presumed nominee, former Vice President Joseph R. Poll of the week: A new ABC News/Washington Post poll finds that President Donald Trump's approval rating among all adults in 48%, while his disapproval rating is 46%. Trump scores a very similar 49% approval rating and 47% disapproval rating with registered voters. What's the point: There's no doubt now that Trump is experiencing a bump in his popularity following his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The ABC News/Washington Post poll is quite similar to the Monmouth University poll that came out earlier this week, for instance. But what is interesting to me is that Trump's jump is coming disproportionality from non-voters. Normally Trump does considerably better among voters than among adults.
