A South Carolina mother has shared her baby's battle against coronavirus in a desperate Facebook appeal where she warned COVID-19 can strike the very young.
Courtney Watts Doster shared images of her sick seven-month-old son Emmett Wednesday - the youngest person to test positive in the country.
It's unclear where the baby contracted coronavirus but Doster's mother was in close proximity with her child before she knew she was ill.
'COVID19 isn't a joke. This isn't time to go out and have play dates, or go to Walmart, or go out to eat. Stay home people please!' Doster posted on Facebook Wednesday.

Who has the child been in contact with. Doctors, family, friends.
Somebody close, obviously.

I don't believe any of this. Babies and small children often get sick. evem very sick, but none will contract Kung Flu unless they have been infected by someone who has it.
Seven-month-olds don't got to bars or anywhere else alone. A simple matter to solve.
People are desperate for attention. It's disgusting.

Babies often get significantly higher fevers than adults when they are ill. One of those things you learn (or should learn) as a parent. Fever is not bad most of the time. It means the body is doing its job. Fevers that reach above 107 degrees are considered dangerous.
My daughter spiked a fever of 104.5 when she was 9 months old. Scared the bejeezuz out of us. Called her very experienced doctor (she was my husband's pediatrician and we are middle aged). She calmly said tylenol, fluids, rest, monitor her wet nappies for signs of dehydration, and call me tomorrow, with the usual caveats of if she gets worse or the fever continues to rise over night go to the ER. Within 2 days she was back to her jolly baby self. More than likely some virus she just picked up was the doctors conclusion.
Parenting is a contact sport, it's scary and hard sometimes. Best thing mom and dad can do is stay calm and heed what the professionals caring for their child say.

You can always tell who hasn’t read the article - or even the intro.
See #3. Then open the article where you’ll see this in bold type under the headline.
Doster's mother was unknowingly carrying the virus before they knew Emmett had it and was in contact with the child
Take the time to read, please… otherwise, so many useless Replies.

It's turning out that younger people are getting this virus more than older people. Could be because older people have been exposed to more viruses over their life time than younger people, or it could be because older people are staying home and taking this virus more seriously.

Negligent mother is at fault for exposing her child to ANYBODY. It does not matter if it's grandma or the milkman.
The name "Courtney" just screams snowflake diva.

Since China is lying through their Commie teeth, we don't know anything about their victims or much of anything else as they're in full cover-up mode. According to the Johns Hopkins virus site, the Chinese infection rate has flat-lined... while Italy is about to surpass the source of it all. I'll bet China is in a very serious situation.

This mother is so typical of many Americans who hear what they want to hear. I have never heard the task force say that children are NOT at risk. What they have repeatedly said is that their risk is small and also identified what groups were most at risk. Risk being small does not mean no risk. People have also been told repeatedly from the beginning to take precautions. The mom heard what she wanted to hear.

Wuhan virus was quickly an epidemic which the always secretive and byzantine Chinese communist leaders attempted to prevent the world from discovering how virulent it was and is.
They concealed data; they would not allow American medical/scientific researchers into the region; wouldn't accept help. What would we have found early on? a NEW virus. We heard a report that a massive tanker filled with medical equipment, masks, etc, had set out from China to the US which the Chinese government ordered return to China. They have threatened to prevent shipment of various medicines, important for treating a variety of conditions, antibiotics, ibuprofen, et al.
To make matters worse, the Chinese were keeping data and knowledge and the extent and severity of the virus to themselves. Then President Trump ordered cessation of travel from China.
The early data once revealed was that the primary victims and fatalities were the elderly, infirm and immuno-compromised. Chinese visitors or workers to Italy joined in frivolities hugging and kissing the gregarious Italians. Foolish, but ignorant of the nature of the virus. The Chinese corona virus quickly went pandemic.
The WHO failed us; the CDC let us down; politicians and industries salivating over facilitating and moving businesses to China, INCLUDING some of our most important pharmaceuticals, PPE equipment and other medical supplies, have all played a part in this growing tragedy. Meanwhile, in January, the Dems were fixated on trying to oust President Trump. again, peacock Nancy Pelosi was tearing up the SOTU text, and the Chinese virus was spreading around the world.
And President Trump was widely castigated for stopping travel to China.
We're sad when innocent little children, or anyone else for that matter, falls ill and suffers. I'm not too sympathetic when people do dumb things. But the MSM deserves huge blame for politicizing everything WITH THE GOAL of taking down POTUS. They have a journalistic obligation to get the facts (3+ primary sources, checked and verified), and then disseminate them.
Let's remember that the media were referring to the virus as Chinese or Wuhan until someone alerted them to how cool it would be to attack Trump as, once again, xenophobic and racist, although his wife is a legal immigrant and citizen, and China is a nation, not a race. (so sick and tired of this).
I do wish the Dems would stop for one doggone minute and care more about the American people than their craven addiction to the acquisition of power.

Well said, #13. The Chicoms are now claiming no new cases. If they said water is wet, I wouldn't believe them. The silver lining in all this will be diminishing trade with China and more 'Made in America' tags on goods. A bad recession or even depression in China could bring about regime change and this is behind their lying and hiding the facts. Nothing new for them, it's what they always do.

Does no one learn anything in our schools these day? Logic? Statistics? Critical thinking?
1. No expert has said kids don’t get the virus 2. Generally, it’s not striking kids 3. If your kid gets it, that doesn’t negate the entire generalization

SCIENCE! EXPERTS! Or... a distraught mother with a sample size of "1".
I think we have enough hysteria already. More children will die from an old flu virus than China's newest. Where were all the news stories about that?

I almost gave #13 a tl;dr ... but slogged through the lengthy post and am glad I did. It's got salient points, rationally expressed, and seems to be simply spot on.
Not that it would change the opinion of somebody whose news diet comes entirely from the msm. I'm not trying to persuade those people about anything any more -- even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, they'll maintain their hold on whatever the enemedia says. Arguing in hopes of enlightening them is usually an exasperating exercise in futility.

Don’t waste your energy slamming experts. They were flying blind at first, using what data they had. And thus far, this is the only young child to contract the disease. 104 degree spike is scary, but not at all uncommon in babies. No mention of his having any underlying conditions. Babies can and do… Stay safe and settle down, Mom...
