A Kentucky coronavirus patient has been placed under police guard after refusing to stay under quarantine, the state’s governor has revealed.
The unidentified 53-year-old man from Nelson County recently tested positive at the University of Louisville, but left against medical advice — and also refused to self-isolate at home, Gov. Andy Beshear said at a press conference.
A local judge declared a state of emergency in order to invoke a little-known statute that allows him to force a “self-isolation or quarantine,” the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

Cuff him to the bed frame? What a total jerk. I could use other terms, but not here.
Glad to see that he is being locked up.

Buddy, your rights end at the point where you recklessly endanger me.

What a jerk.
This was tweeted by LATimes reporter Matt Pearce, and although he was referring to the closures and cancellations, I think it's a great way to look at self-quarantining. "I imagine all the closures and cancellations give people a sense of ominousness. But it's really an amazing act of social solidarity. We're sacrificing so we can give nurses, doctors and hospitals a fighting chance. Start from there and hopefully we can figure out the rest."

How about putting his photo and a photo of his car out there so if this puke gets out we can stay clear.

If he was out spreading AIDs he'd be free as a bird in a lot of places.

Well done #4, post his picture on ever telephone pole within a 50 mile radius. Also time to unleash the potential good that could come from social media.

#9, if she has a photo of him.... it should "find it's way" to the Net.

To straighten out all the fake news in this article would take way too long, but since you all want blood, I'll try. The man was in the hospital for the flu. He was released, but as he went out the door some hospital puke said he must go home and quarantine himself. The guy said no he wasn't contagious, but he was going home anyway. His wife looked up his records on My Chart and there was no record of a Covid-19 test and there was no result.
Well, I hope you all are satisfied, the guy is locked in his home and he was never tested for anything. Geez, let's all calm down...OK? Our A$$hole governor repeats this story on his hourly update on Covid-19.

Thanks for the update #11 and re #5. If they had treated AIDS with proper quarantining when it first appeared they could have saved untold lives. They could also have publicized the fact that a certain sex act practiced by gay men was the main transmitter. Instead, we got a cover-up and attempts to make the heterosexual population think it was also at the same risk. All in all, one of the first politically correct diseases.

It’s amazing how strong the penchant for a fascist response is when it aligns with an uninformed fear.
Unless someone deliberately tries to harm someone else, like infect him with HIV, what Constitutional premise is there for punishing or restricting the freedom of someone who’s sick? Do we really want a police state that arrests us when our neighbor reports we were coughing on the other side of the cubicle wall?
Slippery slopes and all . . .

If I was told to self quarantine, I would do it. Should there be an expedited test of this guy. Yes.
Until then, if advised by docs to quarantine, DO IT.

Yes, an idiot who should act right. But what has he been convicted of? Where is his crime?
That old tripe about "your rights end where my (whatever) begins is just that. Tripe. It has been used to deny liberty for years now and was never legitimate.
Be very careful how much power you give the government. It will be used against you when they get around to it.

#15 Let's think about this from another direction. If the man was infected, according to #11 eh ewasn't, but if he was, then he was endangering the life of everyone he came in contact with. People have a right to defend their life. Maybe the police are actually providing protection the the gentleman.
