New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio advocated for nationalizing certain industries to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.
While appearing on MSNBC's AM Joy, host Joy Reid asked de Blasio how someone in New York City should go about getting tested during the growing COVID-19 pandemic.
"People can get tested according to a priority structure, and it's not enough testing. It's just as simple as that," de Blasio said, later claiming that the city has been "pleading" with the federal government for additional testing. "Here's the reality. This is a war-like situation. We're in a wartime scenario with a 'Mar-a-Lago attitude' being used by the federal government, right?"

Imagine applying the DMV to everything you rely on. You want food? Fill out a form and wait in line. You want gas for your car? Fill out a form and wait in line. You need roof repair or an electrician or a plumber or ...? Fill out a form and wait in line.
By the way, the people providing those services will be taxpayer funded, unionized employees who'll get 5, 15 minute breaks a day, all federal holidays off, and 8 hour work shifts - weekend work, if any, will be time and half or double pay.

You would have to be a nitwit to believe that bumbling bureaucrats could run the factories and industries that the socialist de Blasio was talking about, more efficiently then the current corporate and private owners. In addition a lot of the manufacturing capabilities of those factories and industries are not even located in the USA, but are in China, where the Monday morning quarterbacking de Blasio and his bureaucrats would be laughed at.
The corona virus only became a serious issue for the USA weeks ago, resulting in President Trump closing down all travel routes used by foreigners from China where the virus first appeared and was identified, into the USA. There is no doubt that Trump’s quick action with his so-called travel ban stopped the immediate importation of a large amount of the virus into the USA where it would have infected a lot of Americans. Remember the leftist and liberal Democrat response to that Trump action was to call him a racist and a xenophobe.
De Blasio says that all Americans should be immediately tested. To do that would take a minimum of 325 million diagnostic test kits for the corona virus already been manufactured, refrigerated, and stored ready for use all over the USA. Anyone with common sense knows that it takes some time for that many effective diagnostic test kits after a specific novel virus, like this corona variant is discovered, to be designed, manufactured, refrigerated, and to be on hand ready for distribution across the USA. Obviously the USA has not got there yet. De Blasio should be asked why after the two big epidemics that the Obama-Biden Administration experienced during their eight years in office why that Administration did not ensure that enough such diagnostic test kits were manufactured and on hand to test all Americans before they left office?

Fascism 101.
I do have a concern, however, with whoever at Google is playing politics with the website commitment:
Capitalism functions best with COMPETITION. President Trump should have several private companies competing for as many aspects of defeating the virus threat as possible - akin to awarding defense contracts. No single-sourcing on any of it. In particular: Google should be in competition with companies like GoDaddy, Symantec, and even liberal Microsoft for development of the website!

Did our government take over car companies or plane manufacturers during WW II ? No. The companies produced for the war effort but remained privately owned. Billy is aching to take over any and everything in the private sector.

Notice how it’s during a crisis or emergency that they push their socialist/communist/fascist proposals on America? Only during a crisis when people are scared do they think they can actually convince people to adopt their reckless life altering policies.

This has got to be the dumbest idea I have heard in 50 years. Government takeover would put, for the most, individuals in charge of businesses they have no experience in running. Okay, let us say that the gov picks operators so smart and wise that in six months to ten years they will have the skills to run the businesses we need now. But in these units for the present, we will have chaos.

So a microscopic pathogen that originated and proliferated in a COMMUNIST country requires the upending of a capitalist system to defeat it? That’s loony - even by deBlasio standards.

Did he call everyone "comrade" when he suggested this?
Did he want the workers to unite for the better of society?
Did he want the peasants to "temporarily" give up their rights?
What became of the people of NYC? Seriously, they elected a great man like Rudy a few years ago. Now they have elected and re-elected a Communist dictator-wanna-be!!!!!!!!

The scary part is that there are lofos who would agree with him. It's only natural a power-mad politician would suggest such a thing. I can assure you most manufacturing businesses would be grinding to a halt in less than a month, and bankrupt in six.

Absolutely not.
