Spygate Could Make Watergate Look

The Spygate scandal is shaping up to be the most significant political abuse of government power in history. And it may be even larger than people expect.
The investigation by U.S. Attorney John Durham into the origins of the FBI’s Russian collusion investigation – or as President Trump prefers to call it, the witch hunt – continues to expand. Durham reportedly opened criminal investigations last fall. And unlike the narrow Justice Department Inspector General’s review of the abuse of the FISA process, Durham is looking into the questionable activities of other government agencies, in particular the CIA and its former director John Brennan.

"Could"?
I am waiting for the prosecutions to begin. I am getting more skeptical that anyone will be imprisoned each day that passes.

Remember this?
There is also the matter of President Obama finalizing rules in the closing days of his administration that opened the raw, unedited information feeds collected by the National Security Agency to all of the 16 other agencies in the Intelligence Community before any privacy protections are implemented. This ill-considered and unnecessary rule change vastly expanded the potential for abuse in the system and was a curious move for Obama to make in the waning days of his presidency.

I wonder if the NSA has been put back in control of their data? I certainly hope that The Zero's horrible change has been rescinded.

No. Spygate will not be investigated. There are too many prominent persons who are involved. There are too many files of information which would come to light. Too many careers would be ruined.
Yes, the swamp needs to be drained. But it wasn't built in a day, and will take several years to drain. It all started (so to speak) when we went from a Senate composed of persons appointed by the legislatures of the various states to popular election of the Senate. Senators ceased writing or reading legislation, and turned their attention instead to running for re-election.
So instead of laws we got Administrative Boards and unelected officials running the country while politicians were busy campaigning and raising money.
Popular election of Senators was a bad idea then, and still is now.
Bring back legislators. Enough of the endless running for office!

CIA and NSA have been abusing their capabilities for decades because they could. Imagine how they rubbed their hands with glee when Stinky gave them the green light to break the law with presidential approval. People like Clapper and GHWB could snicker while they hid their actions under the cloak of secrecy. The FBI had to behave most of the time because the other two agencies could play watchdog but when they all began to collaborate together, the FBI willingly and quickly joined the party. They all need to be restructured and headed by a few honest people, if such a thing can be found. The level of technology today puts every American in their sights. Cars, homes, smart devices, cell phones - are all capable of being monitored and located. 1984 is here.

Just remember, Carter Page was an active CIA asset, that they ended up using and exposing, since he could not publicly say he was.
Just imagine what they'll do if Biden ends up in the WH.

At least Nixon had his campaign pay for the dirty tricks/spying on their own dime. He did try to get the intelligence agencies to cover or take the fall. Clinton and Obama let those agencies run their political spy games. That's s
Much worse.

No one will go to jail. The country is still controlled by the elite, despite the admirable efforts of Bill Barr. So don't hold your breath. We have only one hope. Victory in November.

If you were to confine the comparison between the Watergate break in and the abuse of the government surveillance powers, turning the intelligence community into a DNC goon squat, engaging foreign governments in the process that "could" becomes a hell yes it does.
But wait there's more. When you add in that the abuse involved mechanisms designed in reaction to 911 to protect us against Muslim terrorists and not only were those powers used to target a political campaign, they were also turned off when they did what they were designed to do and found impending attacks. Instead those attacks were allowed to happen and the whistle blower who outed Obama's maleficence was murdered.
And they dare compare this to Watergate? That's like comparing Godzilla to a neut.

Time is of the essence. Time enough for a thorough investigation will be time enough for Dems to be re-elected and fire all the prosecutors, a la Clinton.

Sometimes I think the biggest line item in the DOJ budget is reimbursement to journalists for their rosy articles extolling “progress, any day now, just a little longer, etc.” makes me sick.
“Throw the suckers some more chum. It’ll shut them up!” Says the swamp.
