The Hollywood box office is already down 2.8 percent compared to last year and an incredible 23.5 percent compared to 2018, according to Box Office Mojo.
Compared to this same time in 2017, this year’s movie receipts are down 15.9 percent. Compared to 2016 and 2015, the box office has slumped 17.8 percent and 12 percent, respectively.
And we’re not even in Avengers: Endgame territory yet.
What I mean by that is that Avengers: Endgame was released in late April of last year and broke pretty much every box office records there is. So imagine what the 2020 numbers are going to look like
And this is before the leftist produced panic over corona. That attempt to tank the economy to take out Trump will hit them where it hurt.

I didn't think there would ever be an upside to the Covid-19 virus, but...

Good. I haven't been to a movie in years, and haven't planned on going. That industry can just wither and die for all I care. Hollywood became irrelevant a number of years ago.

Make hideous leftist claptrap and guess what? Nobody wants to see it.
"1917" was the most recent movie I saw, and I can highly recommend it. Other Hollyweird garbage, no thanks. Especially since most of the actors and actresses spend most waking hours hating everything I believe in. Why would I give them support in their miserable careers?
As to the movie "1917".....see it. Exceedingly well done, very unusual cinematography, adds a lot to the
real-live-happening-now feel of it. It is hard to tell people how well done it was in a way that they will appreciate until they see it. Perfect costumes, equipment, sets, great acting. This one really is worth your time.

Doesn't matter. The Asian audience will keep Hollywood afloat.

That's the way, Hollywood.
Just keep on insulting us deplorables, us dregs of society.
Just keep insulting our President, calling him the most outrageous and disgusting things, and threatening violence to him and his family

I don't like the people in Hollywood. Why would I want to watch them in a movie? The internet has unmasked the Hollywood crowd as ignorant, greedy, obnoxious, who do not care about their customers. That is not good for movie attendance.

I don't demand "churchy" movies...just movies with interesting stories that don't preach liberal orthodoxy at the 60 decibels.

I'm very pleased to see Harrison Ford's "Call of the Wild" stuck at a paltry $57 million. The way they throw money around on production costs, I hope he really lost a ton money. Diss our President and you will pay.

#13, Variety reports that it cost $125 million to make. Hope all these pukes lose a lot of money on it.

I find it hard to understand what is the attraction of these comic book hero movies? Those types should maybe appeal to 12 and 13 year old kids, but why do adults pay to see such junk? It is a sad state of affairs when grownups (?) think that is entertainment.
I fear for this country in the future.

I share the same contempt for the Woke entertainment industry, although there are good people in it and some are speaking out. I am glad to see the financial decline and believe that the Movie Machine could and should fracture like the music industry. Technology, including CG (Midway was excellent and I agree with the poster on 1917), should break the stranglehold on production and distribution.
These people showed that they are simply mercenary and money is all that matters when China exercised censure power over content (see Maverick's flight jacket without the Taiwan flag). The restructuring cannot come soon enough.

Today's hollyweird flicks have lost the elements which made HOLLYWOOD great. Innovative storylines, intriguing characters, topical plots, comedy, beauty and variety have been replaced with remakes, repetition, ugliness and a predictable lack of compassion for life. Such flicke seem to have become, 'how to,' blueprints for bad and/or even criminal behavior. Everything about the USA has been under attack by hollyweird's questionable leadership. ' Garbage in, garbage out,' as they say.

Gee, lemme see now-- Should I buy a big screen HiDef TV and a Netflix subscription or spend $80 to take the family to the sequel of the sequel of the animated superhero movie from two years ago?

I haven't seen a movie since 2017, even though I have a gift card that pays for both ticket and popcorn. Hollyweird morons are slitting their own collective throats running their mouths as they have been doing!
