The author is wrong, the ICC was not a mistake. It was created with the intention of trying American and Israeli soldiers, even if neither country ever entered the agreement. That it took this long is somewhat surprising, but that it did not happen immediately is not. They hoped to establish the ICC as a credible "court of justice" before going after its true targets.

I seem to recall the UN Blue Helmets raping young girls in Africa while refusing to protect villagers from rebels. None of those UN troops were from the US. None were prosecuted as far as I know. Just covered up and disappeared. That renders any moral judgement from the UN as hypocritical to say the least. I have never thought the UN was a good idea to begin with and it has only gotten worse. Time to solve the homeless problem in NY by giving them the UN building.

Trump should definitely immediately suspend any and all monetary support by the US to the UN if they proceed with this rubbish. Further, the multibillion project to modernize the UN Building and complex (at mostly US cost) should be PUT ON HOLD while the US reevaluates the value of the continued presence of the UN Headquarters in New York, and the value of the continued membership of the US in the UN

Mayor Bloomberg's decision to quit the presidential race ignited in us the urge to send him a check for $550 million. We barely know him, but we're partly to blame for the fiasco, in that we issued more editorials than any other paper encouraging him to throw his hat into the ring. The closer we get to the 2020 election, Democratic presidential candidates support more socialist proposals, and the more that we Venezuelan immigrants experience déjà vu. We’re all-too-familiar with the rhetoric Democrats have delivered over the course of their campaigns. All candidates endorse a transition to Medicare-for-All in one form or another, higher taxes on Americans, and a fresh wave of regulations and government-guaranteed “rights.” And just recently, Elizabeth Warren seemed to endorse government-provided housing.
