Ruth Bader Ginsburg dismantled a controversial Louisiana abortion bill during an hour of arguments at the US Supreme Court this week, systematically striking down components of the law she previously opposed during a preliminary vote. The 86-year-old Supreme Court justice, who recently returned to the nation’s highest court after announcing she was cancer-free in January, seemed to aggressively push back against demands from lawyers representing the Trump administration and state of Louisiana to approve the legislation during Wednesday’s arguments. Louisiana’s Act 620 would require abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of its facilities, in the event

I didn't realize that RBG had her medical degree. And from her arguments, "among medical procedures, first-trimester abortion is among the safest, far safer than childbirth." The baby might choose to differ!

The abortion lobby has a long history of disinformation, distortions, misusing statistics, refusal to allow record keeping, many promises never kept, prophesies never fulfilled. In their fight for Roe vs. Wade, they insisted that abortions were necessary due to incest and rape. In fact, less than 1% of abortions are for pregnancies resulting from incest and/or rape. We were told that abortions would be rare and done only for medical purposes to save the mother. Since Roe was decided, there have been more than 50 million abortions in America, almost all of them for pregnancies resulting from lack of discipline, carelessness, convenience or irresponsibility (or a combination of two or more of the latter). The abortion lobby pushes and pushes, demanding more and more, until we arrived at where we are today, namely when an aborted baby survives, they want the baby killed. Unbelievable.

Aside from her lack of expertise in the practice of medicine, that’s not even the point. This isn’t about the relative safety of abortion or the risks of childbirth. This is about protecting a woman’s health in an emergency situation. That seems self-evident to me, but I’m not a Supreme Court justice.

I was told at 6 months into my pregnancy that my pelvic bone was curved and I would need a C-Section. An acquaintance from high school, whose dad was an ob/gyn, called me and assured me it would be ok, shared her C-Section experience, made me feel at ease. My son will be 26 this May. He is my light and my joy. He is the reason I was put on this earth. I can’t even imagine the sickness and depravity that possesses the minds of the women who think abortion is ok. Never.

extending Ruthie's logic, all pregnant women should abort their babies in the first trimester, by law - and it could be called Keeping women Safe act.

The justice lady i signaling the Dems so that they will know where she stands (sits). However, her statement has nothing to do with the Constitutionality of Roe vs. Wade.

The issue is whether ALL day surgery centers should conform to the same standards, i.e. have doctors with admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. Not an unreasonable expectation.

States can put all kinds of restrictions on gun ownership, which is an express right in the Constitution, but none on the judge-made right to abortion.

What keeps getting overlooked is that the courts are not supposed to decide whether the law is a good idea, only whether the state can constitutionally enact the law. It doesn't matter whether she agrees with the underlying premise of the bill.

She is leaning on her own understanding. Narrow as it is because she is not an OB/GYN doctor. For another reason, she thinks she is some kind of god. God made our bodies wonderfully and that includes healing. . .

I think RBG is (superficially at least) acting like a conservative jurist by testing whether the law conflicts with Roe v. Wade's legal (not moral) precedent. If you acknowledge the precedent, then you have to ask if the law is intended to restrict first trimester abortion, rather than serving a broader purpose. If admitting privileges are not required for providers of other serious procedures, that would undermine the State's case. I mean, let's be honest, that probably was the motivation behind the law, and right or wrong, that would place it at odds with Roe v. Wade.
Of course, if the Court agreed to reconsider Roe, that would be another matter, and RBG's line of questioning would be inappropriate.
