New Hampshire’s first confirmed coronavirus patient was discovered recently and as has been happening in many places around the country, the hospital worker was told to stay home and remain isolated for 14 days. Seems like a solid plan, right? Perhaps not so much. We’ve now learned that there was some sort of “invitation only” event on Friday that the patient really wanted to attend. So they did. Without telling anyone.
Now the original patient is supposedly back home and in self-quarantine, but so are all of the event attendees who came in “close contact” with them. How many people each of them came in close contact with
Still haven’t named the hospital worker? Wonder why?

There is a possibility that someone could die from being contaminated by this person. Being a health care provider, this person would be licensed. If so, pull their license because they are too stupid and work with the ill.

The author of the article needs to stop mixing singular and plural pronouns.

So all it takes is bit of panic from the known and proven liars in the media about a virus that is less deadly than the seasonal flu and reasonable conservatives will throw liberty out the window. The comments calling for totalitarian quarantine measures are quite something. People need to get a grip.

This virus can linger on surfaces for 2 hours to 9 days. Even if its kill-rate is only 2 out of 100... With hundreds of people present and then the possibility of further spread, this can lead to many many deaths. That's reckless endangerment. And if someone dies its negligent homicide at a minimum. Being an informed, licensed medical professional, that's a willful act that could result in a mass murder. As contageins go, this one is mild in comparison with the big names, but as stupidity goes, this is off the charts deadly.

This is why the news should name the people who test positive when an infection starts in a new area. Those who know him/her and have been in contact with that person can follow up with testing and self isolation. I know HIPAA rules prevent this, an exception here would do wonders to slow transmission.

Just saw, on FOX, the Grand Princess ship is being turned around and heading back to Port. This is the same Ship that had an infected person on it last week. He has now died. So this week, thousands of people boarded that ship and out they went. Now, the News stated that "thousands" on that same ship may now have been infected! We are scheduled to cruise in two weeks and have taken a lot of heat because we have decided to cancel the trip. We cruise a lot, so we are familiar with how many people go through the Buffet all day long or how many people are at the Shows. Add to that we are in the top of the "at risk" age group and we have decided we don't want to chance it. We have a trip scheduled for next year at this time, so we can wait for that one! I don't care if people make fun of us! Maybe they're younger than us, maybe they have never been on a cruise before, or maybe they are just not concerned that there really is a problem. I wish them well, I will stay home with my refund!

The first paragraph is so poorly written that I'm not going to bother clicking on the article. Where does the media find these people?

Cruise ships and places like Disney World are prime places for diseases to spread rapidly. Lots of people crammed together and touching the same things/places.

This should cost this person their job. That level of irresponsibility has no place in the health care system, at any level, in any capacity.

I like the "Captain Trips" reference. I have been wondering if this is maybe a similar scenario. We'll see.

#9. I find nothing on the Fox News web site on that topic, a search found a Washington ComPost article on it, was blocked.

I cannot believe the initial patient's lack of feeling or concern for the health and well being of other people. He (I believe it is a man) wanted to go to a party, and so he did. That he is (or more likely, was) a health worker makes it even worse.

"They" and "them" are words that do NOT apply to an individual. Jazz, that sloppy writing makes your work unreadable.

One article calls the person a 'worker', then a 'staffer'.
That person just came back from a conference in Italy, and decided to 'screw the quarantine' and go to an 'invite only' meeting in the next state.
A rank-and-file worker or staffer would not have this travel and meeting schedule.
This person is an Administrator.
Being at a university (Dartmouth), (s)he is most certainly a Leftist Democrat.
Arrogant, and doesn't give a feces about ANYONE else.
It's all about ME! ME! ME!
The media almost certainly knows (her)his name...... and if (s)he was a Conservative, someone would have 'leaked' it to Bezo's Bozos at the NYSlymes, and it would be THE headline.
But no, (s)he is a member of The leftist Club, the people that the 'Just-Us' department always 'decline to prosecute', so......we Pee-Ons aren't good enough to be informed who '(s)he' is.
I am THOROUGHLY SICK of this SWAMP!

Back in the mid-90's, there was a movie called "Outbreak,' with pretty much this same scenario. Oh, some situations were different than with Coronavirus, but the spread of the virus by selfish and thoughtless people is the same.
