On January 20, 2020, the nation turned towards Virginia as a massive Second Amendment rally took place in Richmond. Why did this “Right to Bear Arms” rally occur? Because Virginians were afraid of an aggressive legislative agenda aimed at gun ownership in a historically pro–Second Amendment state.
The gun grab legislation that fueled the pushback was proposed on January 10, when House Bill 961 passed with a 51-48 vote. This dubious legislation, in short, would have prohibited the sale, transportation, and transferring of newly defined “assault firearms.” The ill-fated bill also would have banned magazines with a capacity of 12 or more rounds, suppressors, and other elements —

Remember the good old days when we obeyed the law because it was the law? We had respect for it and the ones that affected us most made a certain amount of sense.
Since the 60's though, the communists have infiltrated the government and have passed law after law that are unconstitutional and just plain odious. They restrict the behavior of business owners, gun owners, land owners, and pretty much everyone else, and charges us money for our enslavement.
The law is no longer worthy of the respect our parents taught us. It should be ignored at every opportunity. As for me, if my activities are not directly harming anyone else, leave me alone and we'll both get home safe and happy.

It's unfortunate that our law makers in government are continually elected. They make laws that we can't respect, because we don't respect them either.
The law makers are elected by people who were not raised with guns and have been conditioned to fear them (and people who own them!) Many of those people who get the law makers elected live in, are from, the big urban areas. The big money for law maker's election campaigns come from those wealthy people.
The urban area adjacent to Washington D.C. is densely populated, to the point that those voters can overcome the rest of the state. Part of the problem is that most of those near Washington are not native Virginians, and tend to be liberal- since they depend on the government teat.
People who believe in upholding the Constitution, but are over whelmed in the voting booth, don't have many options available. Go broke, trying to overcome the law makers, or resist unconstitutional laws as they see fit.

Eventually, there must be a point where Virginians realize that they may have to use their 2nd amendment rights to protect ALL of their rights, including their right to bear arms..

@7 I have friends who moved from Florida back to Virginia and they are just sick at what is happening to their state and feel helpless. Post #4 says it all.

Two things for those who did not get past the headline. One) The Bill did not pass. Two) The Right to Bear Arms rally is a yearly event, not one ginned up to protest this one bill.
I am not passing judgement on those who are on this site, but am always irked by misleading Headline writers.

New Mexico is the bluest of blue states and the Nazi Governess was watching this intently. This democrat controlled state is leaning toward seeing the success of Virginia to make a move on gun owner citizens. The Red Flag Law is up to be signed. You know the stinker law where an ex-wife or ex-girlfriend can't declare you an unstable gun owner and your firearms can be taken away just for spite.
On the subject of seimi-automatic in the early days of the magazine fed firearms be it rifle, shotgun or handgun these were just referred to as 'autoloaders'. Today if something doesn't sound evil and intimidating enough the left applies new nomenclature to it. Do you think AK-47 automatic would draw as much attention if it were Purple Clover Rifle? Of course not it has to have a horrible evil sounding name when it strikes the headlines so the left has to create one.

#2 I think you meant MOLON LABE, and #9 the misleading headline writers are those who are steeped in the blood of fake news...I doubt Samantha knows which end of a rifle the bullet comes out of...

We fought a bloody war for independence from the British for less a reason than this.
'Tar and feather' specials will be making a resurgence within the electorate.

Virginia Liberal Progressives in the General Assembly will soon enact two unconstitutional gun laws. The Red Flag law will allow unsubstantiated charges to allow seizure of guns and property in violation of the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. A preemption law will allow counties and towns to enact legislation to outlaw guns and magazines in violation of the 2nd Amendment. Counties will enact what failed, for now, in the General Assembly.
#3 is right. Stalinist Progressives enact laws to make criminals of their political opponents. Just like it worked so well in the old USSR.
Millions of dollars from Bloomberg, Soros, Steyer turned my beloved state from free to oppressive. How sad.
I must now join a small exodus from Northern Virginia to West Virginia which is still free. Thank God.

#2, excellent sentiment, but the correct term is Molon Labe.
It was uttered by Leonidas, leader of the Spartans, with 300 men, at the Battle of Thermopylae, where they held off about 90,000 Persians.
When Xerxes, King of the Persians, sent a message to the Spartans to "throw down their arms" because they were so massively outnumbered, Leonidas said, what is directly translated as "Come, take" - or more fluently translated as "Come and take them".
We know of several other defiant things that Leonidas said that day, an amazing thing after 3,000 years.
But a great sentiment.
"Come and take them". Molon Labe

Hmmm. Becoming a Felon because one owns a piece of private property. The only use of the word Private in the Constitution is in reference to Private Property.

I'd rather be a "felon" than an unarmed subject. Easy choice.
