Coronavirus is a bigger risk to the
rest of the world than it is to China

New cases of coronavirus in China were running at 5,000 a day only a couple of weeks ago. The count of new cases is down to less than 100 a day, if you believe China's numbers. I don't, but the World Health Organization's declaration yesterday that the epidemic had peaked in China probably is accurate. Just look at the world's stock markets. China's equity indices barely fluttered during the past couple of days while the US and Europe lost 3%-4%. The threat of an epidemic in Italy appears to have pushed markets over the edge. Here's a chart published this morning by the research department at JP Morgan:

The U.S. markets were ready for a pull back. This too shall pass. Also, I read that, biologically speaking, Asians ARE at a higher risk for this illness as their immune systems are particularly vulnerable due to the kind of T-cells they typically have in abundance. The banksters (not a typo) want chaos so they can take advantage of cheap shares. Liberals want a crisis to not let go to waste. The result is U.S. markets taking a hit and dragging European markets down in the process. Speaking purely in terms of disease, the 3% death rate of those hospitalized in China who have COVID-19 is less than HALF the rate of the deaths we see every single year in the U.S. due to influenza - and that is estimated by the CDC to be between about 17,000 and 41,000 deaths per YEAR. This is being blown out of proportion for political reasons and for profit.

"Bigger risk," you say. The question that Rush posed yesterday was, "Which is the bigger threat to our country, Crazy Bernie or the Coronavirus?" The answer is the old Bolshevik, of course. I have little faith in what our own CDC puts out, and NONE in what China or World Health, a United Nations organization, say.

The democrats are praying for hundreds of thousands of Americans to die from this so they can use it against Trump. And you know they are. Schumer and Pelosi are just waiting for it so they can jump in front of tv cameras and read their scripts totally blasting Trump for all of it.

I take every supposed crisis with a grain of salt ,remember Y2K ? I worked in IT when 2000 came around, it was hysteria driven by "experts" and news media. Holy smoke I even saw start up companies about town with vans 'Y2K Response Team' ! I had clients who wanted me at their site at midnight. You just have to be cautious about anything from the msm nowadays. 01-01-2000 came and guess what ?...men weren't wearing derby hats, horseless carriages weren't in the streets, you could still find a Big Mac and the ladies were dressed as attractive as ever.

Another reason to believe that the epidemic may have peaked in China is that flu season usually peaks in February.

The US should tackle coronavirus

China’s stock market is the world’s best performer, thanks in part to massive fiscal stimulus in response to last year’s trade war and this year’s virus epidemic. That’s what governments are supposed to do in response to natural disasters, and the rest of the world should do the same thing. (Snip) With major US equity indices down more than 10% from last week’s record highs, equity markets in the West are sending an economic danger signal. Equity market sectors most exposed to the consequences of the epidemic are the worst performers. Energy and basic industries lead the declines, with 20% declines in airlines, hospitality, oil and gas, and basic materials.

The coronavirus crisis is testing political systems all over the world. In China it is challenging Xi Jin Ping because he 'owns' the system, Melinda Liu writes in Foreign Policy. "The party has something to do with everything in China, especially under Xi Jinping—and suddenly, for Xi, that has become a double-edged sword. As president, party head, and top military commander, Xi has consolidated his authority, centralized decision-making, abolished presidential term limits, and promoted his loyalists. People expect Xi, China’s 'chairman of everything,' to fix everything when it goes wrong." And there's a lot wrong. The virus is devouring the entire Chinese medical system.

Convicted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich went on Fox News in his first post-release interview and held very little back about Barack Obama's involvement in the scandal that put him in prison, while the first black president was never held accountable. Appearing on "Watters' World" with Jesse Watters, Blagojevich was quickly asked about the 2008 Senate-seat-for-sale scandal, in which Blagojevich had negotiated appointing an Obama-approved candidate, in exchange for a cabinet position. “Did you ever talk to Barack Obama about this Senate seat? Did he have any knowledge about what was going on or not?” Watters asked. “President Obama began the whole conversation

Joe Walsh, the one-term Tea Party congressman swept into office by the 2010 conservative wave, has taken his NeverTrumpism to comic new lows with his Conserving Conservatism™ endorsement of Bernie Sanders on Twitter this weekend. [Tweet] Today he's gone and done it again, with a new op-ed for the Washington Post making plain that he'll vote for Sanders if Sanders is the nominee. In researching this column, I had to spend some time perusing Walsh's Twitter timeline which has the all-too-ironic handle "WalshFreedom." That Twitter handle might be the only thing he has left after losing his guns, his health coverage, and his 401k under a Sanders administration.

Canada is presently in the throes of social and political disintegration. A left-leaning electorate has once again empowered a socialist government promoting all the lunatic ideological shibboleths of the day: global warming or “climate change,” radical feminism, indigenous sovereignty, expansionary government, environmental strangulation of energy production, and the presumed efficiency of totalitarian legislation. Industry and manufacturing are abandoning the country in droves and heading south. Canada is now reaping the whirlwind. The Red-Green Axis consisting of social justice warriors, hereditary band chiefs, renewable energy cronies, cultural Marxists, and their political and media enablers have effectively shut down the

CLEARWATER — The three men who held up a CVS Pharmacy on New Year’s Day planned their moves meticulously. The robbers hit at 5 a.m. They wore blue surgical gloves so they wouldn’t leave prints. They waved guns at employees and bound several of them with zip ties. Detectives would later review store surveillance video that showed one of the suspects casing the place the day before. And they made off with a boatload of drugs in white garbage bags — more than 10,000 pills that contained the opioids hydrocodone and oxycodone, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. It had an estimated street value of about $320,000.

A seven-month deployment in Afghanistan shrouded in secrecy is a key piece of Pete Buttigieg’s pitch to voters in the 2020 presidential race, with the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor arguing that his status as a veteran and his time in a war zone give him foreign policy gravitas and first-hand military experience none of his Democratic primary rivals can claim. That supposed strength, however, ultimately could become a weakness in a potential general election match-up with President Trump and a Republican Party that is already eyeing ways to turn Mr. Buttigieg’s time as a Naval intelligence officer into a liability. A number of pundits have recently argued that younger voters, especially those under 30, are less inclined to be bothered when they hear the word “socialism,” since they have no firsthand memory of the Cold War. To some extent, this must be true. Those who weren’t alive during socialism’s cruelest catastrophes — or even its many banal failures — will be less put off by the idea. Then again, if a presidential candidate were praising the excellent public transportation system of the Third Reich or going on about the some alleged benefit to American slavery, they would rightly be chased from the public square forever

The board’s vote on the issue was 5-2. The school holiday will be on Oct. 12 this year. CPS is working to develop new curriculum to more accurately tell the history of Native American cultures. The holiday has been controversial because the day has been used to commemorate Italian explorer Christopher Columbus who claimed to have discovered America in 1492. The area was already populated by indigenous people and some have argued that Columbus’ actions led to their genocide.
