The Resistance Starts

We wonder what the Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts, makes of that headline about the Ninth United States Circuit Court of Appeals. “Trump has flipped the 9th Circuit — and some new judges are causing a ‘shock wave,’” the headline said. Los Angeles Times attributes the claim to one of the circuit’s own judges. Chief Justice Roberts can’t be happy. The Chief Justice, remember, was so irked when President Trump laced into “Obama judges” that he issued a rebuke. “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,” he said.

Roberts was a Bush judge who transmogrified into an Obama version. Since he is now a finished product, he will always be an Obama judge for as long as he warms his bench.

Much appreciate the article posting by StormCnter. The Resistance has caused the SCOTUS and all levels of Judicial to weaponize themselves. The recent behaviors of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Sotomayor make it obvious. The only reason Justice Ruthie isn't acting up is she is content to simply breathe.

Souter was a Bush judge too. As Ann Coulter rightly put it "Our judges go bad. Theirs don't".

Roberts, RBG and Sotomayor have proven that the U.S. Supreme Court is contaminated! Supreme Court Justices are supposed to be closed-mouth about political issues. They are supposed to write their dissents, based on their understanding of the Constitution and the law- not politics! All three should step down, or, at a minimum, recuse themselves from any issue involving the administration!

Much as our kids lose their minds in the face of college campus indoctrination I think many judges lose theirs in a foolish wish to be 'collegial'. Collegiality is desirable but not as a coward's way to escape. I'll take judges willing to speak their minds and defend their opinions even if it requires doing so aggressively. The 'never-Trumpers' who decry our loss of political civility live in Never-Never land. Trump's importance is not because he is 'nice' - nice is a zip-lock bag full of crap.

Nothing illustrates this more than Obamacare. If the government can tell you that you must purchase a service they have unlimited powers. Your money is not yours it is the governments under their ruling. Our economic freedom is a charade and since money is a proxy for human toil, the government has the power to force you to toil on behalf of whomever they choose, that defines a subject not a free person. Does that sound like the country our forefathers died for? And wasn't that the fatal flaw that was left open in 1789 over which some 700,000 died to correct some 90 years later? Being highly educated in the law means that you have the ability to confuse simple matters with complexity and obscure the obvious with elaborate absurdities. I would love to discuss the matter with Judge Roberts, just the two of us, I'll pay for the beer. It's fine with me for someone to believe in systems of government that are mutually exclusive with the constitution. It is not OK to swear an oath to the constitution and undermine it hiding behind a web of word salad games.

I'm with #5. "Starts" to infect?! Are you kidding? The courts are in full-blown judicial coronavirus contaminatio. Time to quarantine at least a third of the judges and put them on cruise ships until they can prove they can understand the constitution AND the limits of their jurisdiction.

Being an Obama Judge himself, Roberts must have been seriously shaken by that line. He caused billions of dollars in damage by one stupid decision. Most liberals have to work a lifetime to accomplish that. Hopefully he is under enough stress right now to shorten his remaining time on the bench.

The chatter started up again, stronger than ever, before caucus sites even opened across Nevada on Saturday. First, it was in the form of whispers among campaign strategists and donors, and as the week wore on, it became outright pleas in certain corners of cable news and Twitter. For Democrats desperate to nominate anyone other than Bernie Sanders, the time had come for some serious candidates to start dropping out. The basic logic has never been in question: If Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer all stayed in the race, they would continue splitting the delegates needed for the nomination

When Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization, declared late last month that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus was an international public-health emergency, he took pains to commend China for its response to the pathogen. “In many ways, China actually is setting a new standard for outbreak response, and it’s not an exaggeration,” he said. As the new disease, now called COVID-19, grew into a health crisis, Chinese officials had quarantined entire cities in a matter of days, suspended travel, closed schools and businesses, and imposed severe restrictions on who could leave their homes.

When Jerry Lee Lewis entered a Nashville recording studio late last month, he had no idea what was going to happen. He had not played music since February 2019, when he suffered a serious stroke at his home in Nesbit, Mississippi. Though his team described the stroke as “minor” at the time, it wasn’t; Lewis was left with mobility issues, and those around him feared he wouldn’t survive. Lewis was more concerned about whether he would ever be able to play the piano again; he spent three months in a rehab facility relearning to walk and trying to gain use of his right hand. It was a struggle.

Former GOP ad men who were once flirting with running Avenatti for president were no longer returning phone calls. Avenatti was left abandoned in handcuffs, his invite to this year’s Sag Harbor Soirée lost in the mail. Alas, he’s no longer the holy spirit or the savior of the republic.

Only a fraction of the Democratic primary electorate has voted so far, but the nomination season is off to a rocky start. Independent Bernie Sanders seems to be leading in popular votes, while upstart Pete Buttigieg is ahead in the delegate count. And there’s also the question of whether either one — or any of the other candidates — can bring the party together moving forward. The current process is clearly flawed, but what would be better? Finding an answer means thinking about the purpose of presidential nominations, and about how the existing system falls short. It will require swimming against the tide

Washington - President Donald Trump pushed back Wednesday against criticism that his administration isn’t doing enough to meet the coronavirus threat, as lawmakers called for giving disease fighters much more money than the $2.5 billion the White House has requested. A day after he sought to minimize fears of the virus spreading widely across the U.S., Trump prepared to hold a White House press conference with experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He tweeted that the CDC, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and others in the administration are “doing a great job with respect to Coronavirus!” and accused some news outlets of “panicking markets.”
