Prince Charles has threatened to cut off Prince Harry’s cash flow if he and Meghan step away from the royal family completely, according to a new report.
The Prince of Wales has made it clear to the couple that any agreement over money will depend on details of their future roles, the UK Times reported Friday. The father and son have reportedly been in negotiation chats since Christmas, the outlet said.
In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Harry and Meghan said they were stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family and would work on becoming “financially independent.”

Daddy came out of his garden to talk badly about his son? Oh boy, Megxit is not turning out well. I am sure the happy couple cannot believe how this backfired. Meghan is a low life and Harry just is either out of touch, stupid or both. When granny says you should not do something, listen to her. Gran knows best, especially when she is the Queen of England. Seems the past few months are starting to turn out as another annus horribus for the Queen with Andrew the perverted and now Harry the un-Prince. I would say the Brits would do themselves a favor and turn out the entire family and become a republic. Royalty is just so 17th century.

It does not matter what Chuck does. It is money from the U.K. taxpayers that should be ended. It is estimated that Megan and Harry have a combined wealth of about 44 million. So it should not be too tough for them to get along in either Canada or in Hollywood, USA. The thought of them living in Canada for very long is bogus.. Where they really want to end up is in Malibu, CA, as that is where the money is, where their deep pocket progressive friends are who can help them make big money, and where Megan can be the diverse Queen of the Hollywood elite.

They’d already been cut off from the 5% grant that comes from the crown. Now Dad is saying the other 95% they rely on for their support will not come from him. In effect, if they are giving up their jobs, he will not pay their salaries.

How is that going to work?
He has no skills and she was B actress with no great parts.
I think if they step away they would not be able to stay in Canada, and he would have hard time coming to the USA to stay.

Those who read the article will know this. The 5% comes from the taxpayers. That has already been stopped with their announcement. Charles is just mopping up the 95% that he has been paying from income from his holdings in the Duchy of Cornwall.
Ninety-five percent of the Sussexes’ costs are bankrolled by income Charles earns from the Duchy of Cornwall estate, while the remaining 5 percent comes from the taxpayer-funded sovereign grant.

Uh-oh! They were counting on Daddy paying them to do nothing forever.
Maybe Harry can get a job flying helos, and Markle can.....well, I only know of one saleable skill she has, and probably shouldn't do that.
They can move to Belize, become beach bums and fleece tourists.
All sorts of possibilities.

BTW, when they returned from their Canadian holiday (which included her mother) they left baby Archie behind with a nanny (probably grandma). Madam Meghan has now returned to Canada for an indeterminate period. I sense an ultimatum’s having been given. “Quit the Firm or you lose your son and me”…
I don’t believe either of them dreamed the royal purse would snap shut.

Actually, #2, Charles makes a bunch of money "on his own" via the Duchy of Cornwall which is a huge business, mostly agricultural, but lots of rentals, etc. I read that only 5% of Harry's money came from the government, the rest from the Duke of Cornwall's funds (Charles), which are fairly honestly made from the huge land holdings the the Duchy has.
But cut off Harry from the Duke's money, they are pretty well down to acting like a normal person....go out and get a job. Harry can fly helos, which pays pretty well for normal folks, but would probably barely cover Markle's shoe budget.

I heard yesterday that their income (Harry and Meghan) from the taxpayers and Charles is about four and a half million pounds per year. In addition, they have the use of that newly renovated estate and about 600,000 pounds worth of security. Did they really think they could just retire from obligations, reestablish in North America while still retaining the estate and the funding? And don't we read that Oprah is the one who convinced Meghan this was the way to go?
Poor Harry. He's made the same mistake Edward VIII made, getting enchanted by a multi-married American. But now, there's a child involved.

OK, thanks, #5, I didn't read your post before posting. I had read the same info elsewhere. I looked up the
Duchy of Cornwall yesterday, HUGE, but very scattered about in SW England, not one single land holding as I imagined a duchy to be.

Charles should not stop cutting there... Due to Meghan's arrogant hissy fits, Harry is going to end up with no money and no Meghan in a year or two. Women like her do not stay with a poor man for long.

The Royal Family better be careful dealing with these two. They might get an offer to write a tell-all book. This situation could be much worse than what happened with Princess Diana.
I heard on Fox News that Oprah was advising the couple on their "Declaration of Independence." Oprah should stay out of this.

I suspect "SussexRoyal" is their brand, and they already have deals set up for perfume, clothing, liquor, etc. They are going to monetize their name/brand a la the Kardasian's, on a global scale. Then go for an IPO...it's not a crazy idea. They're gonna have to pay off the Queen and Prince Charles...could be interesting to see how it plays out

Prince Harry would have been better off if he'd kept going to Vegas and having wild sex with various females, all the while it is filmed. Remember when that happened to him? Embarrassing? Perhaps to Granny and Pops. And maybe to Harry. But still better than being married to Megxit!

The Wall Street Journal had a clever headline: "The Husband Formerly Known as Prince."
Megan will surely continue striving to separate Harry from all family connections until he doesn't remember who he was. Then she'll try to remake him to match her ever-changing taste. When he fails, she'll either dump him or drive him to the point that he'll dump her.

The gruesome twosome expect to be well compensated through their own version of The Clinton Foundation which was registered long ago in Arizona. Arizona. They're being advised by Obama and Clinton cronies. These cronies are experts at laundering money through "Foundations" donated by rich snobby elitists who want to rub elbows with "royalty". Or like Hillary, 'you want to talk to me'? Then make a $1 million donation to The Clinton Foundation. That's how Lady Lucifer rolls and that will become standard operating procedure for the Markle Machine.
The ungrateful duo ambushed The Firm and laid out their 'stepping down' terms publicly so if the Queen or Charles don't accept them in total, they can cry and whine how it's so unfair and now they and poor little moon-bump baby Archie are victims of the mean Royal Family. We're being persecuted...wah wah wah. Woe is me-me-Meghan.

That's one wily Queen. Don't know how she managed it, but somehow she got the right person to whisper into the Megster's ear that this would be a good idea. Which it is . . . for the Royal bank account. Cuz in a year or two, maybe three, the American divorcee will grow tired of it all and divorce the little prince. But by letting them think they've gone rogue, the Queen has cleverly managed to limit the royal losses when the ex can only stick her hand in the pocket of her untethered prince instead of the deeper one of the royal family.

No one had ever heard of Me-Again Markle until she started stalking Harry, the Half Wit Ginger Prince. Plenty of evidence suggests she finagled an introduction and really went in for the kill very quickly. More than likely her aging eggs played a part in the rush, needing to pop out a guaranty (Archie) quite quickly. Some former lib Canadian politicians’ family members were involved as I assume they were in her social orbit when she lived there filming ‘Suits’. I think Harry was manipulated and his desire to compete with William (wife, family) clouded his judgement. Add in his anger about his mother (he blames the royal family). He’s a fool who rushed in. She is a twice divorced (well, if you count an annulment) gold digger. It was never going to end well. I just wonder who’s really pulling her strings. And it has nothing to do with ‘race’. Heck, no one even knew she was bi-racial. It’s about ego, greed, her total inability to learn and practice protocol, and a complete lack of respect for the RF, the country and it’s traditions. They (mostly she) blew it. Say goodbye, now.

I believes the Prince of Wales' income is derived from the Duchy of Cornwall. It is not public, and is quite lucrative. A disgruntled public might demand Charles cut them off, especially when "Sussex Royal" brand adult diapers appear, followed by a reality show with Netflix ('Those Crazy Sussexes!'), appearances on Dancing with the Stars, and endless paparazzi photos of the lovely couple at booze and coke fueled Hollywood social events.

Not easy to have sympathy for the two, since their financial independence seems to come completely via their royalty and Sussex. The have your cake and eat it too again comes to mind......they want all the benefits of the association without having to do any of the work.

Lighten up #31. We don't hate the Royal couple. Hard-working middle-class is just venting on how good Prince Harry and Cinderella Meghan had it, to be part of the Royal family and yet, squashing it to join the low life, "Hollyweirdo All About Me", community. Prince Harry has the potential of duplicating that story, "The Prodigal Son", in the Bible.

I'm sure that everyone imagines that "the Royals" are ultra rich, but as to Charles, he earned ~22 million pounds from the Duchy, which seems to be his main (only??) income source. So, with him passing some on to the boys, that isn't even remotely super-rich by modern standards.
I suspect that Gates gives away that much per week on various charities. So, definitely comfortable, but also definitely NOT super wealthy folks. Of course, having a dozen or two homes to choose from is pretty nice, but you do have to keep all those old places up, and I imagine that they are real money pits, and probably need a staff of 10 or 20 at minimum for all of them, even when he isn't there.
