Former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (AZ) has called on his former colleagues to “put country over party” throughout President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in a new op-ed for the Washington Post.
“President Trump is on trial. But in a very real sense, so are you. And so is the political party to which we belong,” Flake wrote.
Flake, who represented Arizona in the U.S. Senate from 2013 until 2019, urged his former colleagues to undergo a “simple test,” which involves questioning how former President Barack Obama would have been treated under the same circumstances.
“What if President Barack Obama had engaged in precisely the same behavior?” Flake asked rhetorically.

Former Senator Flake's admonition to “put country over party” is spot on but should have been directed toward House Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler.
I am so glad he is a former Senator.

Obama did when he told his Ruskie buddies to let Vlad know he would have more flexibility once he was re-elected. msm said nothing about that little quote. Flake really is a slug.

Jeff Flake parroting lefty talking points. Imagine that! Who is paying you, Jeff? You are getting paid? You should get paid for stabbing the nation in the back. The only good news is Jeff Flake is out of government, and will never hold an elected office ever again.

Someone said that it is fascinating that everything the Democrats demand of the Republicans is what they have already done: eg,demand for a fair trial in the Senate with witnesses after that travesty in the House etc., Flake and others going full bore for Kavanaugh's throat etc. In this case, we have FLAKE, a Republican (in name only and never to be re-elected in any case) talking about country over politics, when he was all too willing to sacrifice Justice Kavanaugh and the rule of law because his buddy Cris Comes and a few rabble rousers, pros all, cornered him in an elevator. I hope those he wants to hire him as a lobbyist realist that he is worse than dead meat.

This guy IS a flake! It is the lunatic leftward lurching democratic party that is disgracing itself with its veer away from reality and its desire to re-run the election of 2016. Their talk of "impeachment" began BEFORE President Trump was even elected. That is their lunatic fringe overtaking the entire party.

I fail to see any “evidence”:of wrong doing....just a long trail of hearsay contraindicated by first party testimony. I do see a rabble that has wanted to impeach DJT since before he was in office...a rabble that cannot wait to impeach but can wait for the easter bunny, leaders of the rabble saying we have to impeach lest he win again (not sure running for office is impeachable), and high fiving after a partisan vote after what should have been a somber affair...and conclude that the divisive politics of our elected leaders should end with a wholescale thumping in the elections to come.... i also see a lot of signs of corrupt behaviors that have been allowed to fester for far too long. Flake may be right...the decisions to come should be “for our nation” not for a party...and the evidence has not yet shown that such has risen to the level of presidential impeachment, but rathervhas sunk to the level of partisan politics

The GOP is lucky that Jeff removed himself from the Senate. He was completely unreliable and seemed determined to undermine his party.
A Democrat women replaced him but, so far, I haven't noticed her making anything worse. Give her time.

From the moment this guy started on this path I wondered why this dirt bag was taking this stance. There is something rotten with him. It smells all the way from AZ to DC. There is just something off about this guy. It'll come out sooner or later. It seems to stem from the "get Trump" coalition. Lots of dirty with that. As the Rush article points out dangerous people, dangerous games. Keep PT in your prayers.

The articles of impeachment don´t even mention a single crime, much less a high crime of misdemeanor. Nancy Pelosi appears to be extremely reluctant to even send the articles over to the Senate, and the president wants a trial! What a way to run an impeachment. And what a way to destroy the political party that Nancy purports to lead.
Jeff Flake is a seriously terrible crackpot who deserves to be ignored.

So does that answer your question you useless piece of RINO excrement?!?!?!?!?

Apparently Flake missed the part where Obama did exactly what they are accusing President Trump of. He asks the question that we all want answered and the real question is why didn't any one have the guts to go after Obama for his many crimes against the Republic? I think we all know the answer to that one.
