Jeff Flake Suggests Senate Republicans ‘Put
Country over Party’ for Trump Impeachment

Original Article

Former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (AZ) has called on his former colleagues to “put country over party” throughout President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in a new op-ed for the Washington Post. “President Trump is on trial. But in a very real sense, so are you. And so is the political party to which we belong,” Flake wrote. Flake, who represented Arizona in the U.S. Senate from 2013 until 2019, urged his former colleagues to undergo a “simple test,” which involves questioning how former President Barack Obama would have been treated under the same circumstances. “What if President Barack Obama had engaged in precisely the same behavior?” Flake asked rhetorically.

Former Senator Flake's admonition to “put country over party” is spot on but should have been directed toward House Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler. I am so glad he is a former Senator.

Someone said that it is fascinating that everything the Democrats demand of the Republicans is what they have already done: eg,demand for a fair trial in the Senate with witnesses after that travesty in the House etc., Flake and others going full bore for Kavanaugh's throat etc. In this case, we have FLAKE, a Republican (in name only and never to be re-elected in any case) talking about country over politics, when he was all too willing to sacrifice Justice Kavanaugh and the rule of law because his buddy Cris Comes and a few rabble rousers, pros all, cornered him in an elevator. I hope those he wants to hire him as a lobbyist realist that he is worse than dead meat.

This guy IS a flake! It is the lunatic leftward lurching democratic party that is disgracing itself with its veer away from reality and its desire to re-run the election of 2016. Their talk of "impeachment" began BEFORE President Trump was even elected. That is their lunatic fringe overtaking the entire party.

I fail to see any “evidence”:of wrong doing....just a long trail of hearsay contraindicated by first party testimony. I do see a rabble that has wanted to impeach DJT since before he was in office...a rabble that cannot wait to impeach but can wait for the easter bunny, leaders of the rabble saying we have to impeach lest he win again (not sure running for office is impeachable), and high fiving after a partisan vote after what should have been a somber affair...and conclude that the divisive politics of our elected leaders should end with a wholescale thumping in the elections to come.... i also see a lot of signs of corrupt behaviors that have been allowed to fester for far too long. Flake may be right...the decisions to come should be “for our nation” not for a party...and the evidence has not yet shown that such has risen to the level of presidential impeachment, but rathervhas sunk to the level of partisan politics

The articles of impeachment don´t even mention a single crime, much less a high crime of misdemeanor. Nancy Pelosi appears to be extremely reluctant to even send the articles over to the Senate, and the president wants a trial! What a way to run an impeachment. And what a way to destroy the political party that Nancy purports to lead. Jeff Flake is a seriously terrible crackpot who deserves to be ignored.

Late Senator John McCain provided disgraced former FBI chief James Comey with five separate reports from Christopher Steele that the FBI didn’t previously possess related to unsubstantiated allegations of collusion between Russia and President Trump’s 2016 campaign, the Justice Department’s recent Inspector General report revealed. There have long been questions about why it was necessary for McCain to pass Steele’s anti-Trump dossier to Comey on December 9, 2016, several weeks after the November 2016 presidential election. By then, Steele had already met numerous times with FBI agents to provide them with his controversial reports.

An Oregon woman is facing hate crime charges for allegedly dumping soda on a Mexican food cart worker and telling her to “go back to Mexico,” police said. The beef began when Sierra McDonald, 30, who was recently indicted on bias crime and other charges, ordered food from the Portland cart and refused to pay for it, saying it was too expensive, The Oregonian reported. The Sept. 21 confrontation escalated as McDonald, who is black, told the woman to “go back to Mexico” and poured soda on her head. She also doused the woman’s grill and chicken with the beverage, the victim told police.

Under the auspices of the agreement, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations will fly Mexican nationals hundreds of miles within Mexican territory, in lieu of simply repatriating them a few miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. "He said to me, ‘I’m convinced one of the reasons they’re impeaching the president is the Supreme Court.’ I said, really? What do you mean by that? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appears to be considering an idea Democrats have floated for several days of holding back the articles of impeachment to exercise leverage over the Senate and the president. She declined formally to transmit the articles to the Senate on Wednesday evening after the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump. Unfortunately for them, the Senate can act, regardless — and would vote to acquit. That’s because the Constitution is absolutely clear about the Senate’s authority. Article I, Section 3 says: “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made a startling admission Tuesday when he said President Trump is about to be impeached “without the facts coming out.” The Senate Minority Leader accidentally told the truth while crybabying in the hopes of violating 200 years of impeachment precedent during Trump’s upcoming senate trial. Schumer confessed: So, to engage a trial without the facts coming out is to engage in a cover-up. To conduct a trial without the facts is saying: we’re afraid, we have something to hide. To conduct a trial without relevant witnesses who haven’t been heard from, to just rehash the evidence presented in the House just doesn’t make any sense.

A New York-based online sports media company is asking a federal court to prevent Ohio State University from trying to stop the company from using the letter "O" in its logo as part of a university effort to protect its brand. Overtime Sports Inc., which focuses on high school football and basketball, has a pending application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its capital "O" logo that features sloping, rounded corners. The university, home to the Ohio State Buckeyes, asked the company in July to stop using the letter, saying it resembled its own trademarked octagonal "block O" letter it has used since 1898.

Earlier this month, the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) ordered the FBI to re-verify all previous warrant applications involving the FBI attorney who falsified evidence against the former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. However, Fox News has learned the court did not order the FBI to double-check warrant applications involving other officials who made key omissions and errors in warrant applications as the bureau sought to surveil Page. The FISC's failure to request a comprehensive evaluation of previous submissions has stunned court-watchers who have questioned whether enough is being done to deter future misconduct by the FBI. In the past, the FISC

Next to Rock Creek in Bethesda, Maryland, sits a six-acre church campus shrouded by old cedar trees. For a year and two weeks, this has been Rosa Gutierrez Lopez's home, sanctuary and site of confinement. This year, for the second time, it is where she will spend Christmas. Gutierrez Lopez, 41, was the first undocumented immigrant in the Washington area to seek protection from deportation at a house of worship - one of the "sensitive location" categories where Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are discouraged from conducting enforcement activities.

North Korea’s vague threats of a potential year-end provocation – what the regime has dubbed a “Christmas gift” – have analysts and ex-officials urging the Trump administration to consider tougher options toward Pyongyang in 2020. Kim Jong Un’s regime wants sanctions eased by the end of the year, and its warnings have prompted speculation they could be planning a new missile test, possibly of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead. (Snip) "We'll see what happens. Let's see. Maybe it's a nice present, maybe it's a present where he sends me a beautiful vase as opposed to a missile test ... you never know," he said.

Former congressman and Hawaii governor Neil Abercrombie, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports, has called for Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard to resign “the sooner the better” following her vote of “present” on the articles of impeachment against President Trump. Abercombie is co-chair for the campaign of Kai Kahele, a Democrat running against Gabbard, and the former governor cited Gabbard’s missing votes “on everything” as the reason for his resignation call. On the other hand, fallout from the call has focused on Gabbard’s impeachment stand. “Throughout my life, whether through serving in the military or in Congress, I’ve always worked to do what is in the best interests of our country,”
