Camille Schrier of Virginia was crowned Miss America 2020 Thursday night. Schrier was awarded a $50,000 scholarship and “the job of Miss America,” succeeding 2019 Miss America Nia Franklin, a classically trained opera singer from New York. Schrier, a student in the doctor of pharmacy program at Virginia Commonwealth University, touted her science background from the start, telling judges Kelly Rowland, "Queer Eye" star Karamo Brown and "Superstore" actress Lauren Ash that she's "had people who think that what I do is not necessarily a talent."

I didn't realise that it was even on until I accidentally flipped past it searching for something else. I recorded the last 40 minutes or so and zipped past the questions and crap after one contestant danced for her talent and then they asked the judges for their opinion, as though it was "America's Greatest Talent" or something. I also didn't like seeing the contestants wearing business casual instead of their evening gowns after the talent portion. It seemed all to informal for a serious pageant.
The only thing I did like was that they seemed to have finally gotten away from the "crystal meth skinny" ideal of the perfect contestant and there were actually normal sized women on the stage. Otherwise, the changes ruined a good thing.

As I have stated in another post:
Since they have taken away the best part of the Miss America pageant, the 'Swim Suit and Evening Gown' events, because they want it to be more about the 'The Empowerment of Women.' Then sweet cheeks, if that's the case; no more nose jobs; no more breast enhancements; more more capped teeth or the use of braces; all hair must be the color you were born with, the same goes for more plucking of the eye brows.
I think about covers the new rules that need to be implemented at the 2021 Miss America Pageant for it to be fair for all women that need to be empowered.

No swimsuits and chemistry experiments on stage? Not even the guys from Big Bang Theory would have enjoyed that.

I have missed this for at least 40 years. Only reason I watched it before then was because my mom watched it, we had 1 TV, and 4 channels. So in reality I missed nothing.

Miss America started as a bathing beauty contest on the beach at Atlantic City. Political correctness ruins everything.

USA Today stepped in it! A question box at the top of the Miss America article asked how we liked their new look. USA Today is hard enough to get through without their appealing to 12-year old girls who are fond of lavender and unicorns.

I miss Bert Parks singing "There she is Miss America." Didn't even realize the thing was still on tv. Not to go off topic, but a few days ago there was a question on Jeopardy about the only FLOTUS who worked as a model and was in beauty contests or something like that. The answer, off course, is Melania Trump. One contestant's answer was Hillary Clinton. I believe I hurt myself laughing.

Should rename it, "Ms. Soviet America". The only thing missing was having all of them wear the same gray Mao jacket and listing their most important statistics...their 5-yesr Plan Productivity Report and Citizen Social Score. The good news though is that this is now definitely a pageant that a trans guy could enter (and win) without any surgical changes. Or even shaving.

Watched it last night out of curiosity. I will NEVER watch it again! Talk about destroying an American tradition! I hope Gretchen Carlson is happy with herself. She and the Board destroyed a beautiful pageant. I'm sick and tired of all this "Women Empowerment" crap and I'm a successful woman!
