Almost 225 years ago to the day, Abigail Adams counseled her husband to “Remember the Ladies.” Her tone in their correspondence was playful, yet serious. Treat women as friends rather than vassals or else we will “foment a Rebelion,” she teased, or was it warned? She appealed to the principles of equality and consent of the governed with charming pluck. Hers was a great example of spirited femininity, which combines Americanism and femininity. It is both cultivated by and protective of American principles.

Prior to entry into politics, Donald Trump was a celebrity loved by the media and adored by millions of Americans. He was a successful real estate developer and the star of a reality TV show. His life was fabulous, full of success and praise from across the country. It all changed for Donald Trump on June 16, 2015, when he announced his presidential campaign after the famous escalator ride. His media coverage immediately changed from positive to unrelentingly negative. During his speech, Trump told the truth about Mexico sending criminals into the country. He was immediately labeled a “racist” and the hateful attacks have never stopped.

We are forgetting someone in this NFL vs. fans fight. They are the most important people among us. The ones who sent loved ones off to war never to see them again. That flag is draped over coffins that arrive in Dover, Delaware. The homecoming the loved ones had imagined, planned for, hoped for was destroyed. A nine-year-old migrant girl from Guatemala drowned while attempting to cross the Rio Grande with her mother and three-year-old sibling. Agents revived the mother and smaller child.
