This impeachment has to be the
most irrelevant ‘historic event’ ever

Never has history felt less consequential.
The impending impeachment of President Donald Trump is, as news accounts and blaring newspaper headlines tell us, historic. This is true by definition since a president has been impeached only twice before in 230 years.
But everyone knows this history isn’t going to matter much. In fact, the day after the Senate trial ends in inevitable acquittal, everything goes on exactly the same as before (except for vulnerable House Democrats from Trump districts, who will have to defend their votes until November).

Anyone who still holds out hope that enough Democrats will vote against the articles to prevent their adoption is ignoring the history of Democrat causes. Shelby Foote, the Civil War historian, said about "Pickett's Charge" that lead to the destruction of Lee's army at Gettysburg, "It would have taken more courage to tell Robert E. Lee that they weren't going to charge the Union lines than to face the Union cannons and be blown away."

Irrelevant, or telling...?
They're all guilty, Mr. Lowry ...no other explanation works.

Since the Democrats don't follow the constitution, maybe we will re-elect Trump to 4 terms, like they did with Roosevelt.

Those so-called vulnerable Democrats in Trump Congressional Districts who vote for impeachment can count on President Trump campaigning and possibly holding rallies in their districts. They have to know that when that happens it will not be pretty for them.

Nobody is paying any attention. And only rabid Democrats think the process was fair and there really is a good reason to impeach him.

As I see it, the dried up old coyote Nancy calls Acme Impeachment Company and orders the best they have. It arrives, she has her minions take it out of the crate. They activate it and wait and wait and wait. Something zips past them. Beep beep!

I disagree that the House impeachment circus will be considered a non-event in history. It will go down in history and forever be known as the illegal demonrat coup against a duly elected president with accompanying Soviet-style and Anti-American and anti-Constitutional justice.

Yep, #6. I stopped too. Honestly, I blame myself. Knowing this article was written by Rich Lowry, I shouldn't have started.
It's been clear for more than three years that Rich Lowry is not reliable or interesting in any way that matters. And it's been obvious for much longer than that that his tenure as editor of National Review has ruined that magazine.
National Review got everything wrong about the 2016 election. They were wrong about Trump's chances for the nomination, wrong about who to support in the general and who would win, and absolutely and unforgivably wrong in predicting Trump's subsequent behavior in office.
President Trump has been the single most effective proponent of the conservative agenda in my lifetime. He has accomplished more for conservatism than Rich Lowry has he even talked about.
At some level within his dishonest, ankle-biting soul, Lowry knows all of this. He is no longer able to claim refuge in an honest mistake. Instead, Lowry has chosen to become a dishonest mistake -- an on-going, obvious proponent of error, incapable of correction by reason or facts.
As for National Review , it is has become irrelevant to conservatives who think and a tragedy for those of us who remember how good it once was.

Impeachment "only twice in 230 years"? Among Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, which of the three isn't Rich Lowery counting?.

And it all belongs to Hillary. What a shameful, disgusting, wretched piece of trash that even a dump site wouldn't accept.
