A high school basketball tournament in Phoenix took an unexpected turn over the weekend when a wild brawl broke out, shocking video shows. Players from Mesa Skyline High School and Cesar Chavez High School were lining up to shake hands late Saturday after the Phoenix Union High School District Coyote Classic tournament when a student from Mesa threw a punch, setting off an ugly free-for-all involving coaches, players and spectators, video obtained by the Arizona Republic showed. “It was a terrible scene,” Skyline coach James Capriotti told the newspaper. “It was a really bad look after a really good game.” Prior to the fight, the atmosphere had been “very volatile”

Comments:

Player from the blue team, his back toward us, socks a white team player at 5 seconds in. Poor video quality, though. Can't we all just get along?

The "blue" team seems to be composed of "teens" and "youths." No surprises there.

As they say, a video is worth a thousand words. Especially when the “Amish” are involved or perpetrate a violent incident, with the fake media attempting to ignore that fact of life to appear politically correct.

OK, the article says that there was a "free-for-all involving coaches, players, and spectators", but the video shows most of the coaches and spectators appearing to attempt to separate the players (although it also appears that some of those working to break up the fight misinterpreted the actions of others attempting to break up the fight, causing tempers to flair and further hostilities to break out).

I do wonder what would have happened if a white player had instigated the melee? Suspension at least.

Looks like words were exchanged between the one who threw the first punch and his target, and I can't help wondering what was said. Even if words don't justify violence, sometimes it reduces my outrage if a 'victim' turns out to have been actively trying to provoke an attack.

What if the kid who threw the first punch had a helmet? Can't blame the kid when he's got a highly paid super star role model in the NFL, NBA and the music industry.

NYT Begs SCOTUS: Throw out Case

The New York Times editorial board is asking the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to toss out a challenge against New York City gun control rather than rule against the controls at the center of the challenge. Breitbart News reported that SCOTUS was hearing a challenge to the NYC gun control on Monday, December 1, 2019. The gun control prohibited licensed firearm owners from transporting their firearms to all but seven city-approved gun ranges. On December 2, 2019, the NYT editorial board begged SCOTUS to discard the case, pointing to the fact that NYC repealed their gun control when it became evident that SCOTUS would take the case.

A federal prosecutor was busted Saturday during a DWI stop in Manhattan — and wasn’t even behind the wheel. Assistant US attorney Bianca Forde found herself needing a defense lawyer Saturday when she was arrested for trying to keep cops from administering a sobriety test to her boyfriend in Hell’s Kitchen, police and sources told The Post. Forde, 35, was riding shotgun with her boyfriend when cops pulled over their 2020 Chevy Camaro about 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of 11th Ave. and W. 40th St., police said Forde — who works in the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC

The state of New York is likely to free at least 125,000 accused criminals from prison next year and provide many with taxpayer-funded housing and job training services thanks to criminal justice reform laws. As Breitbart News has reported, the state’s series of bail reforms will ensure that suspects accused of crimes deemed “non-violent” are not jailed before their trial dates and do not have to post bail. The list of crimes for which suspects will be freed from prison before trial includes: Second-degree manslaughter Aggravated vehicular assault, Third-degree assault, Promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child....

When we learned on Thursday that former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh had been charged on a variety of corruption and tax evasion charges, I pondered what sort of defense her legal team planned to put up. After all, the self-dealing transactions uncovered by the Baltimore Sun were such obvious examples of grifting that it should have been a no-brainer for prosecutors to go after her. But Pugh had insisted from the beginning that nothing illegal had gone on and she had paid her taxes. Well, so much for that. Barely 24 hours later, the news broke that the disgraced former mayor had pleaded guilty to four of the original eleven

The commander-in-chief ought to fire Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who serves on the National Security Council, for rank insubordination. That is the key takeaway from Tuesday’s hearings in the Democratic impeachment push. Vindman, unlike other Democratic “star witnesses,” was at least on the July 25 phone call between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, that set off the inquiry. But Vindman was unreliable and had questionable judgment, according to his own outgoing superior, Tim Morrison, the National Security Council’s senior director for European affairs.

Radical social justice activists will serve as the top prosecutors for three major Washington, D.C., suburbs — including the two wealthiest counties in the U.S. — after George Soros’s political action committee poured $2.1 million into ordinarily sleepy local races. In Virginia’s Fairfax and Arlington counties, the “reformer” attorneys ran on platforms far to the left of the Democratic incumbents, beating them in primary races before ultimately winning the general elections. In both cases, the incumbents expressed concern for public safety if the Soros-backed candidates took control. They also said that the activists were pushing a national platform about racism and over-incarceration that had no basis in reality

Gov. Andrew Cuomo upped his histrionics on the Long Island natural-gas crisis Tuesday, formally threatening to revoke the license of National Grid, the utility that has stopped taking new gas customers. The company says it can’t take on new commitments because Cuomo (followed by Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy) blocked construction of a new pipeline. That new-hookups moratorium, the gov insists, “is either a falsified device or a lack of competence.” That is, National Grid either doesn’t need the pipeline — or is still at fault because it didn’t find some other way to assure supply. Yet it never should have needed a Plan B:

It’s one of the questions you’re not supposed to ask in public but everyone talks about in private: What’s going on with Matt Drudge? For conservatives, the Drudge Report was a one-stop shop for news on the Internet starting in the late 1990s. When Matt first broke the scandal involving the President of the United States and an intern, his place at the top of alternative media, as it was called then, was secured. As always, imitators followed. But none came close to combing as many news outlets and boiling down the essence of stories like Drudge. That was his magic – he’d plow through stories and

Dick Saslaw introduced a bill that he will sponsor in the 2020 legislative session. That bill will outlaw not only the sale or transfer but also the possession of certain firearms. Saslaw’s bill — SB 16 — provides that “It is unlawful for any person to import, sell, manufacture, purchase, possess or transport an assault firearm” and makes such actions a Class 6 felony. The rants coming from the Democrats running for office clearly show that none of them studied civics in school.
