Hoo boy: New poll shows
Warren in free fall, losing

And to think, I’ve been feeling sheepish these last few months for pointing to her poor polling this past spring and declaring that her candidacy was going nowhere. She rose steadily all summer and into early fall! She led in multiple early states! She was the one member of the top tier whom every pundit agreed was exciting crowds on the trail! Now, suddenly, it looks like her final destination might be [shudder] Kamalaville. This new one from Quinnipiac is “just one poll,” as the data nerds like to say, except … it’s not really “just one poll.” As we’ll see momentarily, Warren has been slipping

She started to slide when the big money donors on Wall Street began saying NO to her economy-killing ideas and refusing to support her. Given the current market activities, anyone on Wall Street and anyone who has investments or a pension plan should run screaming away from all of the demonrats and straight into the arms of PDT.

It doesn’t seem to occur to the pundits that the mainstream of America does not like liberal policy in general. I think they all lost the night they all eagerly raised their hands to support free medical for illegal immigrants. They are all pedaling some version of the same thing.

And of course, the lying is catching up to her. She seems to not have the ability to answer tough questions with a logical response. Her first reaction is to quickly make up a lie and then leave. Not good at thinking on her feet. Could be an imbalance from constantly waving arms.

iLike Dem candidates before her, Warren repeatedly stated she "Had a Plan" for all the ills she perceived the Country was suffering from. The problem lies in the Dems new extended candidacy cycle of 2+ years. Without even getting to the Iowa Caucus, her detractors and the Media are demanding details of her Plans. People vote with their pocketbooks, donors demand a return on their investment in a candidate. Warren is toxic to both. Besides, who likes to be lectured by a stern unbending schoolmarm anyway?

All part of a "Draft Hillary" movement, I am guessing. I know some folks want Hillary as the Dem nominee because they think Mr. Trump would beat her soundly (I mean in the election, not with fists or sticks). That may be what would happen. However, I do not want that conniving old witch anywhere near the presidency. Evil is as evil does. And Hillary does evil.

Tiny Bloomberg's $23 million in the race is designed to knock out Warren and lead to his coronation in a brokered corrupt convention. His running in primaries is strictly for show. Of course Warren or Bernie won't challenge him on the multiple women who've accused him of sexual harassment and telling the ones who were pregnant to 'kill it', all well known before he became mayor. Tiny is a Pig with Power like Harvey Weinstein was, and anyone in NY business knows it.

It will surely bring joy to the band’s many haters, but Coldplay will not tour in support of its new album. The reason for the hiatus should give everyone pause: Chris Martin announced that his band will not tour because of global warming. The band reasoned that its musical tours have an intolerably large carbon footprint. As absurd as this might seem, it’s at least refreshing to see someone practice what he professes. After all, if you really believe that the world is about to end because of humanity’s use of energy, then energy-sucking frivolities such as musical tours are rightly the first thing to go. But that’s not all.

Next year, Democrats will control both houses of Virginia’s state Legislature as well as its governorship. On November 18, State Sen. Dick Saslaw introduced a bill that he will sponsor in the 2020 legislative session. That bill will outlaw not only the sale or transfer but also the possession of certain firearms. Saslaw’s bill — SB 16 — provides that “It is unlawful for any person to import, sell, manufacture, purchase, possess or transport an assault firearm” and makes such actions a Class 6 felony. (In Virginia, Class 6 felonies are punishable by imprisonment for between one and five years.)

House Democrats’ impeachment show moves to Jerry Nadler’s Judiciary Committee this week — but don’t expect the proceedings to get any more serious. Sometime before Nadler starts things off at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Intelligence Committee chief Adam Schiff is supposed to send along his final report — which is apparently to be all the evidence the House will consider on the Ukraine matter, despite the near-complete lack of first-hand testimony. Judiciary is simply going to “consider” whether the wrongdoings that Schiff alleges actually constitute “constitutional grounds for impeachment,” with experts brought in to opine on whether President Trump’s actions warrant such a grave step.

The NY Times’ 1619 Project was a sprawling effort earlier this year to convince Americans that slavery was part of the DNA of America. Made up of various pieces by different authors, the 1619 Project seemed to promote an idea that matched current far left sentiment about the importance of identity with an underlying anti-capitalism. The Times is now promoting the Project for inclusion in high school curricula, so it’s likely it will be with us for some time. But where did all of this material come from? One site has done some important work looking into the Times’ Project by simply asking top scholars

The White House announced in a fiery letter Sunday night that President Trump and his lawyers won't participate in the House Judiciary Committee’s first impeachment hearing scheduled for Wednesday -- even accusing the panel's Democratic chairman, Jerry Nadler, of "purposely" scheduling the proceedings when Trump would be attending the NATO Leaders' Meeting in London. The five-page letter came as the Democratic majority on the House Intelligence Committee was preparing to approve a report on Tuesday that will outline possible charges of bribery or “high crimes and misdemeanors,” the constitutional standard for impeachment. After receiving the report, the Judiciary Committee would prepare actual charges.

To date, President Trump’s signature accomplishment is not policy-related; it’s cultural. He’s demythologized and deromanticized the idea of America. No longer is the United States great because it’s good, let alone exceptionally good. (Snip)But the astounding thing about American exceptionalism is that it’s not pure myth. If Joe Biden gets the Democratic nomination, it’s a good bet he will select a woman as his running mate. Biden has mentioned four women he might pick. They are Sally Yates, Stacey Abrams, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan. Yates has spent her entire career as a lawyer, not much of a recommendation for the second highest office in the land. Her biggest claims to fame are helping to set up Michael Flynn for prosecution and, as acting attorney general, refusing to enforce Trump administration immigration policy. These actions made her a hero to the Trump resistance. However, they do not recommend her for the second highest office in the land.

The pontiff also had strong words against defeatism and pessimism, urging his hearers to be joyful in witnessing to Christ.

The separation of news from opinion was an ingrained part of the culture at The New York Times when I started there in the 1970s. Those were the days when copy was edited by hand and if you veered into editorializing, editors simply crossed out the offending words. You learned of your mistake when you read the paper the next day and realized your opinion was on the cutting-room floor.
