When it comes to politics, these guys are dropping the ball! More than a quarter of men in the US would rather their favorite football team win the Super Bowl than their preferred candidate win the presidency, a new poll shows. In a phone survey of 712 adults, 28 percent of guys admitted to caring more about the big game than the next leader of the free world, according to a press release from Seton Hall Sports Polls. Women, by contrast, tackled the question with more of a world view — with only 11 percent saying they’d rather their team score a championship.

Even as a kid, I knew most football bored me. Most team sports period. I tried to like them, just to watch them with my Dad, but once I was in my teens, I just stopped pretending. The world didn't blow up. I wasn't thrown out of the family home either. In short, "Frankly, I don't Give A Damn about the Super Bowl!" There, I said it.

So a phone survey of 712 "adults" turns up endemic stupidity in the sample. Did they expect anything else? And poster # 2 - you are either very smart, very lucky, or both.

Many years ago I stopped to ask myself what benefit do I get if a team wins? I don't gamble, and I don't have stocks in them. The world doesn't change if they win or lose. Morning still follows night. My life goes on, so who cares what happens to these mostly overpaid divas? Not I.

Last Saturday, the NFL’s most controversial quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, participated in a workout to try to spark interest in his employment. So far, no NFL team has reached out to him about a potential job. Kaepernick has been unemployed for three years. He led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012 and did quite well as quarterback in 2013, but then his career started to wane. In 2016 he started kneeling during the national anthem as a protest of police brutality. His move angered fans but delighted political pundits who loved his anti-America message. Kaepernick was on his way out of the NFL

Is Former CIA Director John

Real Clear Investigations has published a report about the anti-Trump wheelings and dealings of John Brennan, former director of the CIA. The investigation makes me, and others, wonder whether Brennan is has led the anti-Trump coup from the start. "Nearly three years later, as the public awaits answers from two Justice Department inquiries into the Trump-Russia probe’s origins, and as impeachment hearings catalyzed by a Brennan-hired anti-Trump CIA analyst unfold in Congress, it is clear that Brennan’s role in propagating the collusion narrative went far beyond his work on the ICA," Real Clear Investigations reports.

President Donald Trump is simply not given the credit by a mostly antagonistic media for the things he has achieved, from helping to build an incredible economy to actually taking concrete and substantive steps to further American interests on other domestic and foreign policy. But in a case of very interesting timing, he just got some important praise from a very unexpected source, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) the vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Warner was being interviewed on PBS’ “Firing Line” with Margaret Hoover on Friday when he gave Trump credit for allowing the U.S. to “punch back”

Forget whether the math works. (It doesn’t.) Expecting billionaires to pay for all the nice things is bad for democracy. One of the more exhausting rituals of presidential campaign season is the effort to make every new proposal “add up.” Sure, it’s better that politicians try to come up with a plan to pay for their wish lists. The problem is that the explanations are often a disguise that make the impossible seem possible, even practical. Fake budgets are the tribute that pandering pays to pragmatism. You could confiscate the wealth of every billionaire and centimillionaire in the country and it wouldn’t come close to paying

Clerics in the medieval Church did not have the luxury of literate pew-sitters. They, rather creatively, used the architecture, sculpture, and paintings in cathedrals to convey the biblical narrative to the unlettered faithful. Gothic architecture so arrests the modern eye not only for its structural and formalistic brilliance but also because the ornature itself narrates the story of salvation. The climate clerics have erected their own Biblia pauperum for the unwashed masses in San Francisco. One Atmosphere, an area non-profit, dedicated a mammoth mural yesterday of the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The House Ethics Committee on Thursday released a trove of striking internal campaign communications sent in 2018 by Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, in which Tlaib urgently requested money from her congressional campaign to defray personal expenses -- and, a government watchdog said, possibly violated federal law in the process. The document dump was related to the committee's ongoing ethics probe into Tlaib, which the panel said on Thursday would be "expanded" based on a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). Additionally, the Ethics Committee acknowledged for the first time on Thursday an investigation into Florida Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings concerning a "personal relationship

From 1967 to 2019, Republicans controlled the California governorship for 31 of 52 years. So why is there currently not a single statewide Republican officeholder? California also has a Democratic governor and Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. Only seven of California's 53 congressional seats are held by Republicans. In 1994, then-Gov. Pete Wilson backed Proposition 187, which denied state social services to undocumented immigrants. The spin goes that it backfired, alienated the Hispanic community and thus marked the road to Republican perdition.

The senior ministers of the Israeli government met twice last week to discuss the possibility of open war with Iran. They were mindful of the Iranian plan for a drone attack from Syria in August, aborted at the last minute by an Israeli air strike, as well as Iran’s need to deflect attention from the mass protests against Hezbollah’s rule in Lebanon. The ministers also reviewed the recent attack by Iranian drones and cruise missiles on two Saudi oil installations, reportedly concluding that a similar assault could be mounted against Israel from Iraq.

The goal of the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other Democratic Party leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives has been to use the impeachment inquiry to destroy President Donald Trump. They hope to impeach him, followed by conviction and removal from the U.S. Senate. Otherwise, they believe he will be so politically damaged that he will resign before the next election. Ironically, the exact opposite political result is occurring. The past two weeks, the nation was subjected to partisan impeachment hearings orchestrated by House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA).
