CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The same man who oversaw the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp is now overseeing security at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. And students want him removed. "If I don't even trust you to go to you for help, why would I want you to stay here?" UNCC sophomore Kenya Banks said. Former commander of Guantanamo Bay John Bogdan is now the associate vice chancellor for safety and security at UNCC.

Comments:

There was a mass shooting at UNCC this year in which two students were killed. It was followed by an outcry for more security...

To students, especially those in the humanities, everything is political. Why don’t they take a campus-wide vote and see how much support they get for this inane protest?

To clarify the headline. If the group of students = 200 and the number of students enrolled at UNCC = 29,600, that means that less than 1% (0.67%) of the students want the security head fired. You know, the cancel culture is alive and well at UNCC.

It used to be pretty much understood that only around 10 per cent of the population had any business being near a college, 15 per cent at the most. And many of these would be gone before the end of their second term. Now, with EEOC crap pushing employers to require credentials for clerical positions and the like, the push is on for EVERYONE to go to college. Pointing out the inconvenient truth of the Bell Curve will get you accused of all sorts of awful things. So, as here, we get loudmouthed imbecilic brats demanding all sorts of things. And equally imbecilic SJW admins swoon and grant them. Assuming the SJW admins didn't start the push. And so, all sorts of politicians kneel at the altar of the false "god" of Education. Guess what the sacrifices are.

At best, this student would only be here for 4 years...is the university taking into account the tenure of the Head of Securityor the tenure of the student? These kids are too stoopid for college, they should be asking for their money back from UNCC. See how THAT goes over!

Who do they recommend? Mr Rogers? Where issues of life safety and property protection are involved, there is no place for political correctness or feelings. When someone has a gun to my head, I would rather my protector be Rambo and not someone in a purple dinosaur costume.

This is the result of letting in inmates run the asylum! These "students" who cannot find their butts with both hands and a flashlight now call the shots at the universities! What a waste of money "higher" education/indoctrination has become!

#12, I was about to make the same inmates observation. When I was in university, misbehavior, upsetting the good order of the educational institution and they'd give you a warning, and then the bood on the derriere is necessary. So it rarely happened, and the campus was a relatively peaceful place to be and study.

I wonder if The Wizard of Oz would be banned because it would be too upsetting to the college students. Maybe we should reserve that movie for audiences that are more capable of dealing with the subject matter. Like perhaps 1st graders. Ouu life is so scarwy I need a counselor.

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte sanitation workers are taking a stand against their employer, saying they’re being put at unnecessary risks of exposure to COVID-19. Not only do they allege the city isn’t doing enough, but they also said the city cut back on measures to keep them safe. Union members spoke Tuesday morning about the issues they're facing. “We should not have to risk our lives because people, rich people, want their trash collected,” said Dominic Harris, president of the UE 150 Charlotte chapter.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) doubled down on his demands for President Trump to appoint a military “czar” to oversee the distribution of medical supplies to states, providing a list of names Sunday to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Schumer has for days been battling the president over what he believes is his inadequate response to the coronavirus pandemic. He has repeatedly accused Trump of failing to adequately manage the delivery of medical goods and supplies to states that need them, lodging his complaints during appearances on both MSNBC and CNN. “And they have no one, that I can best tell, in charge of the distribution,”

Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling for up to $25,000 in “heroes” pay for front-line health care and service industry workers as Congress pushes ahead with a new coronavirus crisis rescue package. “This is a heroes’ fund and they deserve it,” the New York Democrat said Tuesday. The Senate minority leader declared the emerging proposal the “highest priority” for Democrats as congressional leaders and President Trump call for more aid for Americans. Nurses, truck drivers, grocery store clerks and others are “risking their lives” to care for Americans amid the COVID-19 pandemic and economic shutdown, he said.

A man in Brighton, Colo., is demanding an apology from the city's police department for handcuffing him in front of his daughter before briefly detaining him in a patrol car on Sunday. The reason, per Denver TV station KDVR: He was playing T-ball in an empty park. Matt Mooney said a group of officers approached him, asked for his identification and said he was violating state social distancing guidelines. There are no laws in Colorado banning people from going to parks, however; the park Mooney visited has a sign specifically allowing gatherings of fewer than five people. Mooney's 6-year-old daughter

As the world shudders into Easter and the death toll on the China virus continues to rise, the question is: should we quarantine or should we restart the economy before the shutdown kills us? Or, more exactly, when should President Trump brave the sneers of the White House press corpse and proclaim that America is Back? The answer, I think, is pretty clear. It will be midway between the point where only crazed libertarians propose a return to work and the point where Nancy Pelosi would announce that she is appointing a House Select Committee to investigate Trump’s criminal delay in restarting the economy.
