“Operation Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI’s code name for its investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia, blew through the United States in 2016 and did more damage to our national security institutions than any real hurricane could. The upcoming report from the Department of Justice’s Inspector General may well conclude that high-level Obama Justice Department and FBI officials knowingly lied to obtain top-secret surveillance warrants that were originally designed to target foreign spies and terrorists, and used them to monitor a U.S. citizen whose only crime appears to have been acting as an adviser to the Trump campaign.

Our faith in our gvt institutions can only be redeemed by a show of JUSTICE. This is the sort of behaviour leading up to a real coup d'etat and the punishments should fit the crimes. If it needs go as far as Obama, then so it must.

Excellent points, all of them.
Now, CANCEL the entire FISA process. Just END IT.
The government cannot be trusted to "do the right thing". I used to believe that they could, now I am CERTAIN that they cannot be trusted. The bureaucracy is riddled with communists who are working to destroy the country. Lois Lerner, for an IRS example. And Comey, McCabe, Brennan, Strzok, Page, and about two dozen others are KNOWN to be criminally involved in this attempted coup. They all need to go to prison and the tools that they used SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY. Add in CIAramella, Vindman and a bunch more who need to lose their jobs, although Vindman can be court martialed for insubordination and get retired, maybe lose his pension, too.
If we miss a few terrorist strikes, so be it. Better that we lose some people in this terrorist war than we lose the entire country to the traitors and leftists who have burrowed into the woodwork and are destroying it from within. At least take away some of their tools.

My question I'd like to see an expert answer about the FISA Court in this instance ....
It's obvious some folks in the FBI, DOJ and IC pulled a fast one on the FISA Court, getting warrants for at least one Trump campaign operative (and I would not be surprised if others were granted or applied for) on phoney-baloney slop fed by the Clinton campaign and friendlies in the government.
In the real world, foisting this on a Judge would earn a pretty stern sanction from the Judge and probably an opportunity to spend some quality time with the State Bar's Greviance Committees with the expectation of some sort of punishment.
But I have heard NOTHING, NOTHING about the FISA judges bringing in the folks who signed off and presented these warrants to them, asking them to explain what they did. Maybe the FISA courts play in secret, but I'm thinking that the sound of the ruler rapping across the knuckles of these big shots would be heard all around the DC betlway.
That is, unless the FISA court judges were in on the scam as well. Which is a REALLY scary scenario. I've been waiting for somebody to prove me wrong, but it hasn't happened yet. I've been considering calling The Great One (Mark Levin, aka "F Lee Levin" by El Rushbo) for his legal opinion.

It is my understanding that when Rodgers handed information to the FISA judge for review, the JUDGE declared that there WAS criminal behavior in obtaining the warrants. THAT is a pretty clear statement. All the rest of this process should have just been procedural review to prepare for indictments.

I have never liked the concept of the FISA court. It is not in the Constitution and should never have been instituted here in the USA. And John Roberts is the last person I'd trust to overlook it. He has proven himself to be unreliable.

There is a presumption thru this entire article that the FISA judge(s) involved in these wastepaper warrants somehow had the wool pulled over their eyes or were unwilling participants in these shenanigans.
Yet the judge(s) knew we were in the middle of a presidential election contest, which FISA had no business meddling in. The most dangerous thing for the judicial branch to tinker with is an active election. Where did these people think they got the authority to even rule on an ongoing election process?
The most important single election in the country is going to be jeopardized by the fbi and the justice department on the basis of opposition research by the incumbent party. All with the blessing of a FISA judge that doesn't bother to look closely at the warrant.
If the judge is not in on the fraud, what the heck is the judge thinking?
Does anyone oversee these judges? I've been trying to remain respectful for the operation of justice for the last three years, bust this keystone kops plot just makes my ears wiggle.
Why is the intelligence court investigating a current election? Is this a CIA/FBI coup and these are the only friends they know with robes?
I'm just a US citizen with a vote, but I kind of expect my voting right to be treated better than this.
If the justice department is in on this and won't protect me, and the ACLU has sold out long ago, who will stand up for me?

As other posters have repeatedly indicated, it remains to be seen if the US Department of Justice has the honest ability to police itself through the internal agency Inspector General process. If not, there is no doubt that such devious activities by partisan elements imbedded within the Department of Justice will be much worse next time around.
It is pretty clear now that the so-called Operation Crossfire Hurricane along with other yet unnamed CIA/FBI operations were part of a major coup attempt against President Trump and his 2016 Presidential Campaign by partisan bureaucrats, either nominated by former President Obama or employed in the Civil Service by both the CIA and the FBI who favor the big government Democrats. Clearly that coup attempt continued through the so-called Mueller investigation, and now in new form with the Democrat created impeachment inquisition that is designed by the Democrats to impeach and remove Trump from office, to do the same thing with Vice-President Biden, whose name was linked to Trump using his presidential discretion to get the Ukrainian government to investigate wide spread corruption in that country. Some of which may involve former Vice-President Biden and his son Hunter Biden, in a country that has been, and is still receiving large amounts of US foreign aid money and military assistance, in an act of Presidential discretion that the Democrats are claiming is an impeachable offense.
If that were to happen Nancy Pelosi would end up as President and would then get to nominate a Democrat politician designated by the movers and shakers at the top of the Democrat Party as her Vice-President, giving that person a big leg-up in the 2020 Democrat nomination process next Summer, and in the General Election.
