Tiny Wire Helps World's
Smallest Boy Survive

When Ryusuke Sekino was born, he only weighed 258 grams (9 ounces). The Japanese child was one of the tiniest babies ever born to survive. Only 22 cm (8.7 inches) long at birth, he was born after 24 weeks and five days of gestation. His first few months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Nagano Children's Hospital were difficult. Due to his size, doctors say that he was hard to treat. For example, his blood vessels were thinner than a needle. Among the life-saving equipment used was the Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist (NAVA) ventilation system

Comments:

Children Ryusuke Sekino's age are killed and their organs sold by Planned Parenthood. This baby's life was saved by modern medicine. Score: Good one, Evil several million.

My husband spent the first 2 months of his life in an incubator in 1948. He was 2 months premature, which is not that big a deal these days but certainly was in 1948. God bless this baby, his family and those who care for him!

Good story, and it is great that preemies can be saved that couldn't previously be saved, but the article is pretty much a Sandvik advertisement.

Although it seems like a medical article, why would they use "kids" instead of babies at the end ? Wishing him and his parents all the best.

A Capitol Offense 21 replies

Two things occurred to our editorial team as we watched things spin out of control at the Capitol yesterday afternoon: First, we knew this would be one of those few-in-a-lifetime days that we remember because of its uniqueness and its gravity [Snip] Searching for some honor and decency amid the rubble that was January 6, 2021, we came across these simple words from Vice President Mike Pence: “It’s my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not.”

After a 16-month investigation into competitive practices at Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google, the House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust has released Tuesday its findings and recommendations on how to reform laws to fit the digital age. In a nearly 450-page report, the Democratic majority staff laid out their takeaways from hearings, interviews and the 1.3 million documents they scoured throughout the investigation. They conclude that the four Big Tech companies enjoy monopoly power and suggest Congress take up changes to antitrust laws that could result in parts of their businesses being separated. The recommendations from Democratic staff include:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance on the coronavirus Monday, acknowledging that it can sometimes spread through airborne particles that can “linger in the air for minutes to hours” and among people who are more than six feet apart. “These transmissions occurred within enclosed spaces that had inadequate ventilation,” the CDC’s new guidance says. “Sometimes the infected person was breathing heavily, for example while singing or exercising.” This is breaking news. A team of engineers from the U.K. and Germany says a newly developed material could be a breakthrough for a wide range of industries requiring safety or protective equipment. Proteus — named for the shape-shifting aquatic deity of Greek mythology — is the first manufactured material that cannot be cut, researchers from Durham University and the Fraunhofer Institute write in the journal Scientific Reports. The lightweight substance consists of ceramic spheres surrounded by a cellular aluminum structure, which combine to render cutting tools — including angle grinders, drills, and high-pressure water jets — ineffective. Although video footage released by the team shows

A growing number of scientists are raising the possibility COVID-19 was created in a laboratory, saying the option cannot be ruled out. Leading immunologists and geneticists have told Sky News that there are two unusual things about COVID-19 that open the door to it being man-made rather than a naturally-occurring virus. The first curious characteristic of COVID-19 is that the virus binds to human ACE2 receptor cells more strongly than it does to any other animal, including bats. The second unusual thing about the virus that causes COVID-19 is that it has what’s called a “furin cleavage site” that its closest genetic bat-coronavirus relative, RaTG-13, does not have.

While dealing with the Wuhan coronavirus is taking up a lot of America’s attention, it doesn’t mean we should avoid thinking about the future. The fact of the matter is that while we have to hold the People’s Republic of China accountable, the Butchers of Beijing are not the only ones who bear a great deal of blame for that outbreak becoming a global pandemic. There needs to be a long look at the World Health Organization, which was an accessory to the cover-up that emerged from what was, at best, reckless disregard for, if not a depraved indifference to

Boeing’s new spacecraft, the CST-100 Starliner, experienced a partial failure during its first test flight to the International Space Station (ISS) on December 20, 2019. Originally, the Starliner was supposed to launch from Earth and dock with the ISS to prove that the capsule could safely carry humans to the station. However, an error in the mission timer aboard the capsule meant that the spacecraft fell short in its orbit and could not rendezvous with the station as intended. Boeing said that had there been a crew on board, they would not have been in danger. More so, a crew on

What a difference two weeks makes. Two Fridays ago, pundits seemed to be beside themselves over what was the latest flare up in the U.S.-China trade war. President Trump raised tariffs in retaliation for China’s retaliatory tariffs, he called Fed Chairman Jerome Powell an “enemy,” and the Dow plummeted 623 points while the Nasdaq closed 3% lower. Now it seems like trade deal optimism is back in the air. New formal talks between the U.S. and China have been announced for next month, and there are even high-level Chinese sources suggesting a breakthrough could occur at those meetings.

As we reported two days ago, Joe Biden completely made no sense when he was trying to explain the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill. It was really bad and it explains why they’re afraid to have him deliver an address to Congress or do any kind of a real solo press conference, because at this point they have to be afraid this is all going to fall apart if he does anything live and this all becomes too obvious to the American people. But there’s only so long that they can hold this off. And it’s getting worse, as video today revealed. Biden was holding an event to announce the nomination

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
