President Donald J. Trump has decided to restore convicted SEAL Edward Gallagher’s pay grade to chief petty officer, overriding a decision last week by the Navy’s top admiral, both Navy Times and Fox News learned.
Although naval officials and Navy Times discussed Trump’s looming decision on Sunday, it was announced on the morning Fox and Friends show by network contributor Pete Hegseth, who said he spoke directly with the president about intervening in three war crimes cases.
A week before Veterans Day, Trump’s move clears the way to free Army 1st Lt. Clint Lorance, who was convicted on a pair of murder charges for ordering his platoon to shoot
what a long damn twisted road of stupidity the USN has dragged these men over. This kind of "justice" is truly perverted. So happy our President stepped in. It's no wonder the enlisted personnel love him. They know he values them and their service.
BTW, the attorney has the perfect name for his profession...........

I hope the AcDU military folks are seeing that, in a way not seen for over two decades, they've got someone in the White House who isn't going to stand by and let them get railroaded for political reasons or purposes; whether by friends or foes. Outstanding, Mr. President. Outstanding!!

Politicians in uniform have always and will always be bad for discipline
and good order in the military. Too many political whores and too few leaders.

Bravo Zulu! Mr President. War is about breaking things and hurting people, and the US SOF community is very good at that...when the pencil necks leave to their business.
Turned down an overseas flying job several years ago during the Magic Idiot’s regime, primarily because I didn’t trust him or his minions. Been flying combat support missions for over a year now, as we have a real Commander-in-Chief at the helm (who knows how to hire and fire as required)
If/when the shiff hits the fan, so to speak, I believe I know with whom the operational part of the military will side.

Hopefully the malign influence of Obama over the armed services will be eradicated by such commonsensical acts by our president.

It's no wonder that the US Military loves Donald Trump. When you wear the uniform you are often at the mercy of complete idiots, which is the main reason that I did not make a career of the Navy. They train SEALs for years to be efficient and expert killers and then fault them when they do their jobs. Pure Lunacy.

The admiral should be so upset that he resigns! Didn't President Truman fire a general? Then President Trump should fire all these nincompoops,

For every good decision by Trump, there is usually some Obama Judge waiting his turn to overturn or block it. Can this decision be blocked or reversed by any judge?

What a gutsy President we have in Donald J. Trump. None of the last 5 presidents would have ever had the nerve to right this terrible wrong!! Remember how Dubya let poor expendable Scooter Libby flap in the breeze because Powell and Armitage had to be protected?

Well, if McRaven has the rocks to throw a junta to overthrow Trump, he better figure that there are a lot of SEALS who have their President’s back

You people are missing the obvious here.
Most navy people, including the command structure/officers do not have any exposure to ground combat. Therefore, they do not understand it, and rule in odd ways, when dealing with those who fight on the ground..

In the Navy, no one escapes a court martial without being found guilty of something. Navy prosecutors' are notorious for tacking on charge after charge. My personal favorite: UCMJ Article 134. General article:
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special, or summary court-martial, according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.

After two decades of service! I don't know if it's even possible, but, I would have restored his pay grade, then promoted him to a higher grade for even more pay, and given him backpay based on the higher grade. Even if it meant making him an officer, dag-na-mit.

UCMJ Article 134 was penned by a democrat in hopes of future use for impeachment proceedings. (Tongue firmly in cheek)

Same old Navy higher command. Find a scapegoat and cover up the brass. They did it to Commanding Officer McVay after sending his cruiser the USS Indianapolis out without destroyer escort, ignoring 4 SOS reports, doing nothing for days after not showing up on station and then waiting 3 hours to issue rescue orders after a passing patrol bomber found the survivors who were in the water for 5 days. McVay was the only one to be punished. Not the 4 officers on duty who heard the SOS or any of the other brass who failed to do their job.
