Right now, wildfires are scorching tens of thousands of acres in California, choking the air with smoke, spurring widespread prophylactic blackouts, and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people. Right now, roughly 130,000 Californians are homeless, and millions more are shelling out far more in rent than they can afford, commuting into expensive cities from faraway suburbs and towns, or doubling up in houses and apartments.
Wildfires and lack of affordable housing—these are two of the most visible and urgent crises facing California, raising the question of whether the country’s dreamiest, most optimistic state is fast becoming unlivable. Climate change is turning

" Climate change is turning it into a tinderbox.."
Funny how no other state is overrun by homeless, has vastly overpriced housing, and constant wildfires.
Climate Change: It can DO ANYTHING!

You reap what you saw. Poor forest management and dumb politicians that are for sale. San Francisco is a large homeless encampment. Please stay in your state and stop feeling your creation.

If you want to live in a State like California, vote for democrats. I guarantee then can turn the Garden of Eden into a hellhole within a few years. It is sad thing to watch but expected. These high minded politically correct goofballs will walk over feces, syringes, and homeless camps to get to work but they will not demand that policies be put into place to deal with the disgusting chaos. Any reasonable person understand that fallen timber and underbrush must be cleaned out or they will serve as a tinderbox just waiting to be ignited. The environmentalists demand that the areas remain in their natural state, and therefore, that means nature is going to happen. Fire will be ignited and spread very quickly when it could have been stopped if the underbrush had been removed. It is insane what these do gooders have wrought there. Until they have politicians who are willing to make good decisions based in reality, nothing changes. Fires will rage, power will go out, and people will suffer. Clearly, Californians have a high tolerance for pain. What I do not agree with is throwing federal tax dollars at problems they refuse to address.

While California burns and the homeless take over the cities, Pelosi, Schiff, Feinstein, and Newsome say nothing. They are too busy to worry about their state. They have to rid the world of the likes of Trump and Kavanaugh doncha know! It is time for these Communists to go back home and live in the mess they have created.

This article is a complete sham and a fraud. Nowhere does it once, touch upon the true cause of this misery. Hint - it starts with letter D in capital. Climate change is turning California into a tinder box? How about God's wrath being visited on this modern day Gomorrah.

The compact of states which is our Constitutional Republic is intended to allow individual states the authority to 'experiment' within their borders. We ALL lose when cross-country refugees leave a failure like California but idiotically bring their voting beliefs elsewhere thinking it would have worked if not for....Republicans, the Supreme Court, flyover states, etc.

California is the poster child for what happens when Progressives/Democrats have been in charge for any length of time. You can see what happens when Progressive ideology bangs into reality. The result is a dystopia.

The problems in California are not caused by climate change but unbridled growth, stupid forest management and over regulation of public utilities.. In addition, water management is a disaster. Water is being diverted to cities so over paid celebrities can fill enormous swimming pools they never use at the expense of irrigation of the land. So I guess it is "Burn, Baby Burn" for those folks who voted for the policies that are destroying a once beautiful place.

The direct cause of the wildfires is poor forest management - the liberals won't cut down trees or clear brush. Interestingly, the wildfires create C02 levels that are equal to the entire C02 output for the state of California for a year. And liberals preen that they are so smart and we deplorables so dumb.

Rush started talking about how environmental whacko brush management policies could only lead to more wildfires over two decades ago. And here we are. Forest managers used to do controlled burns to prevent such widespread fires, but they haven't done those for a long time. Now they are reaping the "benefit" of letting emotions rule their actions. It's very sad.

When the California Democrats and a lot of their low information and special interest voters decided that it was to their long term political interest to import both the good and bad from Mexico and other developing and underdeveloped countries in unlimited numbers who are mostly poor and unskilled people to generate millions of new foreign born and socialist oriented voters in the years ahead, they got what they wanted, permanent socialism throughout California, that supported by the Democrats and those surging numbers of poor people, many of them homeless, will not be reversed.
When the California Democrats and their “tree hugging” allies decided that the overgrown forests, even brush areas in and near built up residential areas should not be managed in ways that would keep the fire danger down, they got what common sense dictated would happen, a lot of big and dangerous fires in those forest and brush areas anytime the sure to come yearly high winds started blowing across those very dry areas of California.

California is no longer your grandfather's dream place that's all a memory. Remember those spotted owls, rare ground beetles along with much more common wild life they're all bar-b-que. The Greenies have worked for naught. Don't refer to them as tree huggers any longer because the trees are now charcoal. It's been nice knowing you California pretty soon the Mexicans won't lay claim to 'Mexico Norte'.

Interesting article. Although at the start the Author blames Climate Change. California is basically a Desert! It has what is called The Fire Season!!!...Nothing new about that! The Power Company was blamed last year for poor maintenance of electric lines that sparked fires that lead to destruction and death. It has been reported that funds allocated to repair Lines were used to push Renewable Energy Plans. Past Administrations and this one Newsomes May be the worst!

Meanwhile back at the ranch the best and brightest California has to offer have put their massive brains together and came up with the answer to all that ails them: More taxes more spending more immigration from the third world.
If they were any dumber they'd be in Illinois. Same mess, same answers, but without the beach and warm weather

The homeless problem can be mostly solved. Zero tolerance is required. If you were to pitch a tent on the sidewalk of my small southern town, it would be gone in five minutes. Try it again and you will spend thirty days in the city lockup. Harsh but we don't have tents and feces on our sidewalks.

The good news is that Global Warming is a hoax: it does not exist. On the other hand, Illegal Aliens receive free health insurance and their DACA progeny preferential admission and free rides in the University of California system so that our children cannot. Downtown Los Angeles has skyscrapers built with Korean capital surrounded by homeless encampments with typhus carrying rats.

Climate change, if it is happening, has nothing whatsoever to do with anything that humans have done.
California is unlivable because it is overrun with drug addicted bums, criminals from other countries, and Communists working hard every day to destroy the entire infrastructure of the state, while taxing the people so much that they cannot afford to live.

Build more dense housing in urban areas?
Dense populations have less freedom and are easier to control - look at any large city. Destroy the suburbs and the need for automobiles and make people dependent on government controlled mass transportation.
In short - destroy the "California Dream"

Typical democrats running Ca into the ground and blaming it all on climate change. If we can just get rid of carbon fuels and have solar panels in every roof in the state and no more gas driven cars and trucks or wood burning fireplaces and $15/hr minimum wages and more bike paths and hiking trails and get rid of sugar and foie gras and no more Big Gulps, and ban all plastic shopping bags and not allow smoking anywhere in the state and give free phones and internet to everyone and allow all people in the state to vote and give everyone free money and free public transportation and ban all farm animals and raise gas taxes and sales taxes and income taxes and give non citizens free health care and free college tuition and free housing and not allow republicans to vote in democratic primaries and right the system so no republicans make it to the general election and build high speed trains all over the state like a giant spiders web and have more sex education for kindergarteners and promote abortion for population control as a way to reduce demand on earths resources and just keep doing more and more we can save the planet and the state and the world.

It doesn't help that they are represented in Washington by one old corrupt crow as a senator and the other senator being a whorrific ambitious hypocrite. Plus throw in San Fran Nan whose delusions of royalty have squandered any good she in her powerful position could have done for her state. The Golden State has become the Fool's Gold State, led by a bunch of Pyrite Pirates.

Somehow Climate Change always gets woven into the mix because that's what they are taught by their journalism professors to say. My question is how is the 2 to 4 degrees Farenheit temperature increase that they are predicting via their doctored computer models and will take a century to occur create the 451 degrees that it takes to start a fire? The little girl knows that propane burns faster than scrub brush, good for her, but the person who started the fire probably didn't know that, he just needed to burn some trash or grill some hot dogs and didn't realize that the 50 mph winds would be a problem.
The old adage that if you repeat a lie often enough it will be accepted as truth does not seem to hold true for Climate Change. It only makes the liar look more ridiculous each time it is repeated. Fires burn uncontrollably in the wind and the Santa Ana winds have been around since - Santa Ana.
Yes, California is in deep doo-doo and it is entirely a man-made problem but the underlying cause is stupid democrat politics, not the weather. Once everything falls apart and they are all living in tents and caves as per Atlas Shrugged, they will finally get their wish - no more carbon emissions.

#29, we realize that is satire but if one could look inside the head of a liberal, that would be one giant wish list. #22, not possible, Deplorables are too smart to move to California and those that live there are leaving. California will stay blue but will probably lose electoral votes as they lose population.
