Trump’s Best Option for Avoiding
Impeachment: An Apology

Original Article

Posted By: mean Gene, 10/30/2019 7:44:15 PM

In l’affaire Ukraine, the president is guilty as charged. And the best strategy for him to avoid impeachment by the House and perhaps even removal by the Senate is to admit it, apologize, and let voters make their own judgment. It’s also the best way to fend off a disaster for Senate Republicans.

Comments:

Has Jonah jumped the shark? It isn't as if Dems would graciously accept an apology for doing nothing wrong. Doing something someone else os concerned about is NOT impeachable! Ask Jeff Sessions how trying to make nice with Dems worked out when he recused himself for "peace's sake."

there was a time I had a fair amount of respect for Jonah. I fear that time has passed. Trump did nothing in the "infamous phone call", my quotes, to trigger an impeachment inquiry let alone an inquiry. To say just confess and throw yourself on the mercy of the Democrats is nothing short of insanity. I think living in New York has rotted his brain and left him a mere shell of his former self. Sad to see it in one so young and someone once so promising.

Oh, puh-leez ... has Jonah learned absolutely nothing watching decades of the conniving shenanigans of the dems/progressives? An "apology" to that den of liars, crooks, and thieves would be viewed as an admission of guilt and used to toss Trump out of Washington on his butt.

Goldberg is a total idiot. When is he going to apologize for his constant anti-Trump rhetoric and his constant lies about the President. He is just another GOPe apologist and people like him are the reason our country sunk to the low level it did prior to President Trump. He and Romney should just go to a rubber room and beat their heads against the walls, the end result would be better than what the two of them are producing now with their pathetic rhetoric.

Jonah explains -when the Democrats move to public hearings or to a Senate trial. And when that happens, claims that the call was “perfect” and that there was no quid pro quo will evaporate in the face of the facts. So, I'll just bookmark this page and shove it back in his smug little face after this is over.

I've read the transcript, and nothing was wrong. Looked like normal banter between two presidents. And, I read the opening statement from Lt. Col. who simply expressed concern outside influences were possibly going to upset the bipartisan support in Congress (presume he was referring to the letter from the 4 Democrat Senators insinuating Ukraine may not have such support from Democrats should they investigate 2016). I hope Jonah is very concerned with that letter from 4 Democrat Senators essentially threatening the Ukrainians with no support if they didn't play ball, but I doubt it. In fact, Vindmann didn't say much of anything from what's being mentioned, or you would have heard it by now. Ukraine found 2 people guilty of interfering in the 2016 election on behalf of Hillary's campaign. Crowdstrike is located in Ukraine, and they seem to be who the DNC turned over their server after it was compromised, and James Comey just took their word for what happened without ever reviewing themselves. Believe that was the same server that the Awan brothers had access to, whom 40+ Democrat House members used for their IT services. So, the potential for lots of material that would be compromising. And, yet, Jonah thinks President Trump should apologize?

The democrats are accusing Trump of targeting a political opponent, the democrat front runner at the time, for investigation intended alter the likely outcome of the 2020 presidential election, not targeting the admitted corruption of the vice president from the previous administration, as I believe was the case. In most criminal proceedings, one of the elements of an offense is the "culpable mental state" of the person being accused, which applies to intent. If so, then it wouldn't hurt the president's cause to address the American people and state exactly what his intentions were and are and perhaps apologize for his true intentions being grossly misinterpreted by his hard left opposition in Congress and the media. Public opinion matters in an impeachment, which is why democrats haven't gone on record as supporting impeachment. Rallying public support, which the president is surely capable of doing, may be his best way of avoiding the stain of impeachment and putting his presidency in the hands of squishy Republican senators. There doesn't appear to a downside in doing so but plenty of upside.

"Wrongdoing" Apologize for "wrongdoing."? What we've been witnessing (as many have rightly described) is a Soviet-style interrogation+show trial assault on President Trump. And for those who so hate the POTUS, hating him isn't enough. They aim to destroy all who are associated with him, too. By the time a "trial" began in the USSR, the accused had been thoroughly broken (haven't we been watching this happening before our eyes?), by the time the beaten and broken accused (so many True Believer old Bolsheviks and purist Marxists) they were ready to sign anything, admit to anything, grovel and beg for forgiveness for their "wrongdoing." The Dems qua old Chekist interrogators are trying to break Trump down, rattle his family, destroy colleagues and intimidate those who voted for him and will vote for him again. For three gory years of non-stop harassment and an utterly failed Russia-Collusion fiasco (did Jonah beseech Trump to apologize for some Russia Wrongdoing?) … I strongly doubt that ANYONE else could have stood up against this, virtually alone, save for a few true loyalists WITHOUT descending into tyrannical retaliation. He just gets to work every morning. So far, we have not seen any wrongdoing. U n l e s s you consider his inelegant style of speaking, tweeting, his hair, his bombastic rallies, etc etc... The ONLY ones who need to apologize are Schiff, Shallowell (okay, Swalwell), Nadler, Schumer, Pelosi and all the rest, and the corrupt, venal media, and the handful of weaklings of the genus Pierre Delecto et al.

Your hatred of Donald Trump is making you crazy. Settle down have a cup of tea and think about what you are saying. The President of the United States should apologize for setting foreign policy which is his job, apologize for wanting to clean up corruption that apparently has been committed unabated for at least 20 yrs if not longer by a man supposedly so revered by a democrat party so lost in socialism that it thinks Mao was a good guy. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Friday released a letter with Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) calling on President Trump to comply with the oversight requirements Congress attached to the $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package signed into law last week. “With trillions of taxpayer dollars being spent, it is critically important for the Administration to ensure full transparency and willingness for independent oversight,” Romney and Tester wrote in the April 3 letter to Trump.

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) reacted to the firing of Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson by stating President Trump is “retaliating against people that are on his enemies list and doing it in the dead of night” as people are dying. Schiff stated, “We’re in the middle of a pandemic, and what is this president doing, as thousands of people are dying? He is retaliating against people that are on his enemies list and doing it in the dead of night. This is just another showing of the character or the lack of character of this president.

U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review of the Russia investigation is putting increased scrutiny on former CIA Director John Brennan, searching for any undue influence he may have had during 2017’s intelligence community assessment of Russian interference. Durham, selected by Attorney General William Barr last year to lead this inquiry, drove to Washington, D.C., in March to ensure the investigation stayed on track during the coronavirus outbreak. The top Connecticut federal prosecutor is looking into highly sensitive issues, including whether Brennan took politicized actions to pressure the rest of the intelligence community to match his conclusions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motivations, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

Joe Biden said he would follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation to wear a face mask in public.“I think it’s important to follow the science. Listen to the experts. Do what they tell you,” Biden told ABC’s This Week on Sunday, adding, “If I go out in public — and I have not gone to commercial places of late, I haven’t gone to my local church, etc. There’s no services, actually. But my generic point is that you should follow the science.”The move differs from how President Trump said he would act in public. Trump said Friday he would not wear a mask because it could interfere

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” former Vice President Joe Biden said President Donald Trump should have stopped air travel from China sooner than he did to fight the coronavirus pandemic by saying 45 nations had already blocked “China personnel from being able to come to the United States.” On Trump’s response to the outbreak, Biden said, “I would tell him what we went through a similar crisis, you have to move swiftly. We have to move more rapidly. You have to implement the Defense Production Act, empower a supply commander, create, you know, a Defense Production Act for banks for small business loans, you got to faster than slower, and
Bill de Blasio, America's worst mayor 33 replies

After the 9/11 terrorist attack, Rudy Giuliani’s calm presence was an inspiration to the entire nation. Today, New York is a different kind of ground zero, and it has a very different kind of leadership — which is to say, the weak and woefully inadequate kind. To say that Mayor Bill de Blasio has done a poor job under pressure is to understate the case. In the simpler times of 2014, New Yorkers had the luxury of chuckling at his weak leadership, as when he killed a defenseless groundhog at a public event. But that he has proven himself such a clown amid a grave crisis,

In a bigoted effort to mislead its readers and demonize the American South, the far-left New York Times on Thursday manufactured a wildly misleading coronavirus map. Using a desperately sweaty piece of reverse-engineering to make Southerners (and I’m a proud one, Yeeehaawwww) look as irresponsible as possible, the Times — a fake news outlet that hires racists, spreads deliberate misinformation, and has already smeared Christians as the cause of a coronavirus outbreak that’s currently hitting mostly secular, urban areas like New York — published a steaming pile of fake news. “Where America Didn’t Stay Home Even as the Virus Spread” is the name of the piece
