John Bolton, welcome to the Resistance?

Original Article

Washington has grown accustomed to the unexpected, the unusual and even the bizarre during the presidency of Donald Trump. But is it ready for John Bolton, hero of the “Resistance”? It’s a question increasingly on the minds of lawmakers, U.S. diplomats and possibly Trump himself as the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry forges ahead. A key revelation so far: Bolton, while serving as Trump’s national security adviser, raised alarms about the politically questionable role informal actors were playing in shaping U.S. foreign policy toward Ukraine.

Bolton developed a very high opinion of himself and was finally ousted due to the influence of Mike Pompeo. If he becomes a tool for the Left I will lose every shred of respect I ever had for him.

One thing is for sure, Bolton is a neocon warmonger who if he ever gets his way could easily start a shooting war. So he is a dangerous man to have in the White House. Once President Trump experienced Bolton’s advice relating national security affairs he decided that Bolton was not the right man for him. Since Trump was elected President, and Bolton was not, that means that the ultimate national security policy decider is Trump, not Bolton.

I used to admire Bolton (and Mattis) for shear pugnacity and willingness to be pro-American in the face of the flaccid Left. But....they are both a bit hide bound and old school while Trump is a true revolutionary......a genius of negotiation and leverage. Trump 2020 Trump Jr. 2024

I never liked John Bolton, who seemed to be mostly interested in boosting his own image. But, when I read he was pressuring President Trump to invade Venezuela, that finished him for me.

CNN military analyst and retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling criticized former Secretary of Defense James Mattis for making jokes about President Trump during the Al Smith Memorial Foundation dinner. Mattis joked about how Trump called him the "world's most overrated general." "So I'm honored to be considered that by Donald Trump because he also called Meryl Streep an overrated actress. So I guess I'm the Meryl Streep of generals, and frankly that sounds pretty good to me," he said on Thursday.

President Donald Trump called former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis “the world’s most overrated general” during a tense White House meeting Wednesday with lawmakers over the growing Syria/Turkey conflict, according to sources familiar with the meeting. The incident wasn’t the first time Trump has attacked the popular former Marine Corps general, once one of his most highly praised Cabinet officials. But since Mattis announced his resignation from the top Defense Department job last December, the president’s view of Mattis has increasingly soured.

This is interesting on the merits but also interesting in that two of the most powerful platforms in right-wing media are promoting it. I suppose one could argue that Trump handing the G7 to his own business isn’t a textbook emolument since it doesn’t really function as a bribe, which is what the constitutional ban is all about. We don’t want the president receiving fat envelopes from foreign dignitaries for fear that that’ll influence his views on foreign policy.

As The Hill notes, Planned Parenthood is planning to make a major investment in the 2020 election. The abortion conglomerate’s super PAC announced that it would be spending upwards of $45 million to unseat Republican politicians and replace them with Democrats. More from The Hill: The investment will fund a “large-scale” grassroots organization and canvass, digital, television, radio and mail programs. “The stakes are higher than ever, and we’re coming out more powerfully than ever with the largest investment we’ve ever made,” said Kelley Robinson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, in an interview with The Hill. …

It’s amazing how a guy with zero experience in certain fields kept getting jobs in certain fields. And I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that his father was conducting foreign policy in the same places, right? But don’t ask questions, because Chuck Todd might have an aneurysm. We’ve already heard about Hunter Biden’s lucrative dealings in Ukraine. Then there was the bribery scheme in China involving a guy under indictment. Now, we are finding out that he advised a guy headed to prison in Romania while not being registered as a foreign agent.

Mitt Romney could turn out to be the 2020 version of Evan McMullin. Last week some signals were sent that may indicate Romney is considering it. Remember Evan McMullin? He’s the former CIA officer who ran as a third-party candidate in 2016. He claimed to be a conservative alternative to Donald Trump. He failed miserably and even placed third in total votes in his own state of Utah.

On Friday during Rep. Elijah Cummings’ (D-MD) funeral, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton used a Biblical analogy to take a veiled shot at President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump. Clinton was comparing Cummings to his namesake, the Biblical prophet Elijah, who stood up against wicked King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. Clinton said, “Like the prophet, our Elijah could call down fire from heaven — but he also prayed and worked for healing.” She added, “Like that Old Testament prophet, he stood against corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel.” The crowd roared in acknowledgment.
