Should we be frightened by the AR-15
or the Democrat candidates?

For almost three hours on Tuesday night, the Democratic candidates solemnly described the many problems existing in our country. They unanimously identified for us the evil, corrupt person causing these problems and threatening to destroy the Constitution and our country.
Then they passionately declared that they understand these problems, that they are uniquely qualified to fix them, and that they will quickly turn our county into the utopia we deserve.
We citizens can accept their declarations without question, or we can think about what they say and check for ourselves.
Let's take their claims about the AR-15 as an example.

Fact is, in close proximity to a long gun if you are not closely in the line of fire, it is easy to take down a shooter with an AR-15.
That weapon require the shooter to dedicate everything from the waist up (upper body, BOTH arms neck and head) to aiming his weapon. Just hit him hard from behind or sides and he's down.
Handguns on the other hand are a problem.

An AR-15 is no more dangerous than a lamp or ashtray in the proximity of the PIAPS.

The strategy is brilliant. Start with the AR15 where you have scary looks to leverage, the "weapons of war" lie to work because of similarity in looks, high profile tragedies to leverage. Then as we know now, no change occurs, the grabbers will be dumbfounded and pay for a study that notices handguns are statistically far more likely to be used in crimes of murder.
They are going after the low hanging fruit first. Then our own words will come back to haunt us when the cases is made that functionally other semi auto rifles are just as deadly. Good bye Mini 14, even the M1 Garand. Then it will be noticed that it is nonsensical to ban semi auto rifles with minimal relation to crime without also banning handguns with significant relation to crime. Don't post any videos of your .303 Enfield mad minute escapades. When someone mistakes that rate of fire for fully automatic as did the Germans in 1914 when first encountering the BEF, they will make the list,
But alas we are too stupid to notice. Just like we were too stupid to notice that the democrats were in fact socialists waiting for the right time to come out of the collective closet.

Kevin, the dim candidates. The expected civil war has already started on the political front.

Too many people have forgotten we the people should be armed with true 'weapons of war'. Just to keep the fedgov honest. They've given up an important portion of their birthright for a mess of pottage (bread and circuses)...It's time to take it back.

#5, I should have been more clear, you are right.
Colt started marketing the AR-15 as the semi-auto only SP-1 to civilians in 1964, only making select-fire versions (machine guns) primarily for the military, before that. The numbers of SP-1s sold was very small then, because the gun did not fit with the common "blued steel and walnut" idea of a rifle, and the design didn't really take off much until the fears of economic collapse started in the early 1980s- the first preppers - Mel Tappan's book, for example. Some of the select fire (machine gun) Colt M-16s were sold to civilians, since they were legal to buy in many states, although heavily restricted federally, until 1986 when all new machine gun sales to civilians was banned.
In any case, yes, AR-15 variants have been available to one degree or another for about 60 years. The numbers sold have increased dramatically in the last 30 years or so, as more ex-military folks have wanted a gun like they had when they were in the service, fears of government tyranny or economic collapse have increased and the accuracy, and hunting utility of the platform has been realized. Many tens of millions of AR-variants were sold in the last two decades, and very, very few of them have been used for criminal acts.

The AR15 has a safety and a trigger that must be deployed before any damage is done. It is also way cooler looking than any DemoCrap and a red dot and iron sights make it very accurate...the Dems have no direction! They are crazy 360 degrees 100 percent of time! And NO soy boy will ever scare this 65 year old man! Us elderly people have a code which includes words like courage and fidelity to the constitution that will never die until our generation is gone in 30 to 40 years! Then you 20 year olds are on your own!

I first fired an m-16 in 1978. I fired them every year after that until 2000. Then I took a break and got an AR-15 in 2017. People hurt by my rifles in that time...0. People hurt by democrats in that time? Over 300 million.

All murders with ALL rifles represent about 3% of murders. AR-15 style rifles probably represent something like 10% of this 3%, although there is no breakdown by rifle type. Since AR-types have only been sold for about 40 years, and all other rifles for centuries, clearly they are a minority of these 3%. What the FBI used to report as "Personal weapons"- hands and feet, annually kill almost twice as many people as ALL rifles, probably 10 times as many as AR-15s. The Dems try to isolate a particular subgroup of guns for demonization. Their goal is to confiscate ALL GUNS.
