In a shocking twist of fate, an experienced Arkansas hunter was attacked by a deer he had just shot in the woods on Tuesday evening. The hunter later died after suffering puncture wounds from the deer's antlers.
Officials said 66-year-old Thomas Alexander was hunting in Yellville, Arkansas on Tuesday when he shot a buck using a muzzleloader. As he approached the animal, believing it was dead, it attacked him. "He apparently went over to the buck and it got up and attacked him," said Keith Stephens, the chief of communications for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Alexander was able to call his wife and emergency responders planned to

In 2017, I literally went around the world in 80 days as part of a series I was writing on how the world stacked up against America. Like Phileas Fogg minus the hot air balloon, I visited every continent but Antarctica. I explored the Amazon rainforest with a naturalist in Brazil, shot AK-47s with former Viet Cong in Vietnam, hid from the Islamic Fulani herdsmen militia in Nigeria, drove the Great Ocean Highway in Australia, and walked the barbed wire of the DMZ on the Korean peninsula. As such things often go, the

The case of a 7 year old Texas boy who will begin transitioning into a girl despite his father's objections has generated wide public interest. "A Texas jury has ruled against a father who tried to intervene and stop his seven-year-old son from transitioning to a girl after claiming his ex-wife manipulated the child into wearing dresses and said that 'monsters only eat boys'. Jeff Younger and his ex-wife Anne Georgulas have been involved in a lengthy and bitter feud in Dallas as they argued in a family court over whether their son James has gender dysphoria."

In 1964, the Beatles conquered America through the mass medium of television, via their breakthrough performance on Ed Sullivan’s CBS variety show (backed up by a whole lot of marketing by Capitol Records).
By the late 1960s, The Who eventually conquered America thanks to Pete Townshend’s endless (in every definition of the term) interviews with journalists, including Jann Wenner, leader of the burgeoning world of rock journalists.
In 1969, Led Zeppelin conquered America through word of mouth, thanks to their blazing live sets, often as the opening act, blowing the headliner off the stage, and through the new medium of freedom FM radio, whose stations accepted longer songs, and sometimes even

LARGO — A jury found Reynaldo Figueroa-Sanabria guilty of two counts of first-degree murder on Wednesday night in the 2013 stabbing of two people killed aboard a houseboat in St. Petersburg.
The case now moves to the sentencing phase. The state is seeking the death penalty for the 47-year-old defendant. Figueroa-Sanabria, in a gray checkered shirt with his hair in his usual bun hanging low behind his head, stood at the verdict was read aloud by the court clerk, his right middle finger resting vertically on the defense table. It will be up to a jury of 12 and two alternates to suss out who is being truthful about that day,

TAMPA — Amber Perera asked for a second chance. Her victims’ family wanted her to spend the rest of her life in prison.
A judge decided on half a century.
Circuit Judge Christopher Sabella on Tuesday sentenced Perera, 31, to 50 years in state prison for driving drunk and causing a crash on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway that killed Luiz and Rita Felipak of Tampa and their 8-year-old daughter, Giorgia.
Just before handing down the sentence, Sabella made reference to a jail call, recorded after Perera’s arrest and played in court by prosecutors, in which she told a family member, "My life is ruined.”

The Brits call them "newsreaders." Their job is to sit behind a desk on a TV set and read the news -- ostensibly written by actual journalists, but also by the propagandists at the BBC -- off the teleprompter in a professional-sounding manner while looking reassuringly into the camera.
In America we call them "anchors." Their job is to be the star of the show, to determine what goes on the air, to provide the desired slant to the news, and then at some point during the evening, to read the news off the teleprompter in a professional-sounding manner while looking reassuringly into the camera.

All Mirah Wilks ever wanted was to be a victim. But, tragically, her luck was just too good. For 69 years, the Israeli-born Wilks evaded bullet after bullet. As a child she contracted polio, and whereas others afflicted with that terrible disease find themselves tethered to burdensome monstrosities like an iron lung or Eleanor Roosevelt, Wilks recovered without a scratch.
As an adult, she developed kidney cancer. Surely that would do the trick! Nope…full remission.
When disease failed to fell her, she set her sights on man-made opportunities for martyrdom. She convinced herself that a massive Arab-led war of extermination would soon consume her beloved Jewish state. When that didn’t happen,

Jack Kerouac found the end of his storied road in a St. Petersburg hospital 50 years ago Monday.
The so-called King of the Beats is still celebrated throughout the city. For much of October, the Spirit of Kerouac Festival has events popping up around town. And Dale Nichols, owner of the Flamingo Bar — one of Kerouac’s only remaining haunts — still gets visitors looking to connect to a counterculture hero.
But the Jack Kerouac who lived in an unassuming house on 10th Avenue N with his mother and third wife, Stella, was not the folk hero of On the Road. He was not Dean Moriarty.

On Monday, PragerU released a video giving two solid scientific reasons to doubt the Darwinian theory of evolution. In the video, Stephen C. Meyer, who earned a Ph.D. in the history and philosophy of science and who serves as a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, lays out two key flaws in the evolutionary theory that is often taught as gospel truth in may high schools and colleges.
Meyer begins the video by quoting evolutionary biologist and New Atheist Richard Dawkins, who claimed that anyone who does not believe in evolution is either "ignorant, stupid, or insane." By that criteria, many in the scientific community are losing their sanity...

In his phone call with Ukraine’s President Zelensky, President Trump asked for a favor. The favor was not, as was widely reported at the time, to investigate Joe Biden. Rather, the favor was for Zelensky’s government to investigate Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election: (Snip) There is a certain irony here: for three years, we have been told that investigating foreign interference in the 2016 election is of paramount importance. Now, it apparently is an impeachable offense.
If, like me, you didn’t remember that Ukrainian meddling in the 2016 election has been reported, this Politico article from January 2017 (via InstaPundit) is a useful reminder:

Mikey Harlow, outspoken gay writer and model, has been banned from Twitter permanently for dubious reasons. It all started when he posted these few tweets about inconvenient truths that Twitter must not want you to see.
"Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people want to be treated the same as everyone else. Radical alphabet people want to be treated differently. That is a key distinction. And that is why sane LGBT individuals take such exception to the latter category," he wrote. [Tweet] He continued poking the beast by announcing, "Good news! There is NOT an epidemic of trans people being murdered. 5 out of 100k Americans are the victims
