Pinellas sheriff, state attorney
raise bar for pot arrests

The bar just got higher for deputies to make marijuana arrests in Pinellas County. Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe on Wednesday issued a memo cautioning deputies about making pot arrests in light of a new law legalizing a type of cannabis called hemp. While the memo only applies to the county’s 820 or so deputies, some Pinellas County police departments have also raised the standards for their officers to make marijuana arrests since the state law went into effect July 1. Wednesday’s memo marks the first time the county’s top prosecutor has issued an official stance on which marijuana cases his office is willing to pursue.

Comments:

Florida voters' support for outright legalization of marijuana recently polled 61% (to 34% against), which means that by 2021 pot will be legal in Florida. It doesn't make sense to lock people up for using it. Almost every other drug is more dangerous. Especially alcohol. (My drug of choice is coffee. I don't even drink anymore.) If you watch Cops or LivePD, you will notice that law enforcement is more concerned with hard drugs than marijuana, which doesn't even excite them anymore.

OP, I so agree with you, especially the comment about more dangerous drugs out there, especially alcohol. Alcohol causes more injury and damage than pot ever will. I've never used it and never have been inclined to, but my son has suffered from migraines since he was 11. He tried for 30 years to go through the medical profession and they would NOT help him, so he suffered for years. Medical marijuana cards are available here, he got one, and for the first time since he was 11, he has much, much more control of his pain. So in many cases this is a good thing.

Nothing good will come of this. More young people will have brain damage, and there will be more mental illness and drug addiction. Sad.

Next up: Demonrats will legalize cocaine and sundry products like Oxycotin (sp), then raise the bar for arrests. That is, if pedophilia doesn't come first.

‘No human is limited’: Kipchoge

VIENNA — Roger Bannister, 1954. Eliud Kipchoge, 2019? Like the sub-four minute mile, running a marathon in less than two hours had seemed impossible — until Saturday. But this time there’s an asterisk: Olympic champion Kipchoge performed his feat under conditions so tightly controlled to maximize his success that it won’t appear in the record books. The 34-year-old Kenyan completed the 42.195 kilometers (26.2 miles) in 1 hour, 59 minutes, 40.2 seconds at the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, an event set up for the attempt. Ahead of the event, Kipchoge even compared the feat to being “like the first man on the moon.” Afterward, he drew comparisons to Bannister,

In a post called “Not just a fake Indian,” Scott discussed Elizabeth Warren’s claim that, as a young teacher, she was let go because she became pregnant. The claim is false, as demonstrated by records of the school board in question and confirmed by what Warren herself said in 2007. Warren is sticking to her story. She is an inveterate liar. One point that Warren keeps making is that her (fake) experience as a pregnant woman in the workforce mirrors that of millions of women in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. I’ve heard Warren’s supporters in the media say the same thing in her defense.

South Park escalated its criticism of the Chinese communist regime on Wednesday, with lead character Randy Marsh at one point saying “f**k the Chinese government.” In the episode Shots, which was coincidentally the show’s 300th episode, Stan Marsh’s father Randy is running a weed business selling product to China. When confronted about the country’s human rights abuses by his former business partner Towelie, he agrees to stop selling to China over ethical concerns. In an effort to convince Towelie that he is sincere, Randy begins shouting: “F**k the Chinese government.” The episode comes days after the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, issued a fake apology the communist regime

Fact-checkers gonna fact-check and Politifact is no different. The industry of pretending to be unbiased while operating as total hacks is apparently good for the bottom line. The most recent example comes courtesy of a claim about DACA and Barack Obama, namely whether he ever admitted he didn’t have the authority to enact such an order. This all came in a snarky reply to, who else, Donald Trump. The President had tweeted out this. (Snip) Anyone that’s been around for more than five minutes knows that’s objectively true. When asked the type of government the Constitutional Convention had created, Benjamin Franklin famously replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Franklin and the Founders understood that given a flawed human nature and its passion for power, no form of political order can survive if it is not continually maintained and defended against attempts to dismantle it in order to empower one faction at the expense of others, thus diminishing their freedom. Since the election of Donald Trump, we have been watching one of the most serious assaults on the Constitutional Republic in our history. With the current efforts of the

The hefty sentence came during an emotional hearing Thursday morning before Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Joseph Bulone, who heard impassioned pleas from McGlockton’s parents and girlfriend for the maximum sentence of 30 years. “Markeis was loved by so many and because of you, Michael Drejka, my son is now a memory," said his mother, Monica Moore-Robinson. " “I don’t hate you, but I will never forgive you.” There were no Drejka supporters in the courtroom, but one of his defense attorneys submitted two letters requesting more leniency,

I've grown increasingly curious — hell, let's say suspicious — about the most recent incarnation of the three-year effort to find a case for impeaching Trump. This is, of course, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) and the Democrat members' "impeachment investigation." Take it as read that we now know the Ukrainian investigation of Burisma — the Ukrainian gas company for which Biden apparently interceded while in office, and where Hunter Biden had a very well paid sinecure — started long before Trump's controversial call; that the President of Ukraine has said on the record he didn't feel he was pressured at all by Trump's call;

Now, he is now wanted for murder. Francisco was sentenced in 2005 to life imprisonment for trafficking in crack cocaine. The Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 reduced sentences for this crime, but not retroactively. The First Step Act that President Trump signed into law with broad bipartisan support, included a provision that made the Fair Sentencing Act apply retroactively. As a result, Francisco became eligible for release from prison. He was released in February.

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed 15 gun-related bills into law Friday, tightening the state's already-stringent Second Amendment restrictions. One of the bills, which expands a so-called "red flag" law to allow co-workers, employers and educators to seek gun violence restraining orders against firearms owners they fear are a danger to themselves and others, was vetoed twice by Newsom's predecessor, Jerry Brown. Newsom also signed a companion bill allowing the gun violence restraining orders to last one and five years, although the gun owners could petition to end those restrictions earlier. The bill also allows judges to issue search warrants at the same time as they grant the orders.
