Media's embrace of 'climate crisis' raises
alarm about journalistic objectivity

With its town hall Wednesday on climate change, CNN joined nearly 200 media outlets vowing to increase their coverage of the “climate crisis,” raising concerns that the real crisis may be less about rising temperatures than the erosion of journalistic objectivity. The network aired an “unprecedented prime-time event on the climate crisis,” a seven-hour marathon featuring 10 of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary candidates, who took questions early on from activists and climate-woke audience members, with nary a skeptic in sight. “We have 11 years to avoid the catastrophic consequences of this crisis. Food shortages. Rising sea levels. More extreme weather events like Hurricane Dorian,”

Comments:

Did anyone watch that thing? I wonder how many did so.

The only reason this topic is still in the news after 30 years is that the entire US political class is behind it. For 3 decades US taxpayers have been forced to pay billions yearly to finance the creation of a global industry anchored in the US White House and Exec. branch about something that doesn't exist, ie, CO2 terror. These billions were formerly spent on education, transportation, health, crime, but now go to climate profiteers. The political class built what is now a $4 billion a day industry from scratch by effectively overthrowing the US and stealing tax dollars. Since 1990, 13 fed. agencies have been tasked with global climate dangers. Not a single member of the US political class will stop this crime. Science says the US is about 1.9% of earth's total surface and about 7% of earth's total land. US is only a small fraction of earth. Who is 'we' they keep talking about? Further, they never mention continuous reports proving that China pollution is carried in high winds across the Pacific and settles in LA basin and elsewhere on the west coast, has directly caused higher ozone in SoCal. They've repeatedly found China pollution in fish from Oregon rivers. Communist China controls global CO2, has no intention of cutting coal use, allowing inspectors, allowing accurate data to be reported to the public. But no one speaks up for us because it's a $4 billion a day racket. They steal from us because they can. US has no control over other countries' CO2 nor has any country shown the slightest interest in following the US 'example' of deliberately punishing and impoverishing their country to save the planet. Peer reviewed science says CO2 often lags temperatures, meaning CO2 doesn't cause warming.

"Journalistic objectivity" has been an oxymoron since the Reagan administration. Anyone just now getting alarmed is 40 years late to the party.

"alarm about journalistic objectivity"??? HILARIOUS! There have been only a tiny fraction of journalists with any objectivity for decades now.

Oh, such blather. Cooler, warmer, move inland from the beaches...all doable if necessary. What we cannot do is provide a back up plan should the sun burn out. Once the sun expires, and it will someday, we are jammed. Wake me up then with your alarmist piffle. Meantime, please shut up!

CNN’s Presidential Climate
Change Town Hall Was Insane

Put it this way: the most benign climate-change plan proposed during CNN’s seven-hour Democratic Party presidential candidate town hall was more authoritarian than anything Donald Trump has ever suggested during his presidency. Democrats were not merely proposing massive societal upheaval but mass coercion. CNN says it’s a “crisis,” though, so Democrats were free to offer one insane Nostradamus-like prediction after the next. Not only is every weather event now a manifestation of global warming, but Beto O’Rourke says our communities will soon be “uninhabitable,” and Pete Buttigieg says the challenge of warming is on par with World War II, a conflict that took more

Wayne Messam is best known, if you’ve heard of him at all, as the other mayor running for president — in his case, not quite as successfully as South Bend, Indiana’s mayor, Pete Buttigieg. The mayor of Miramar, Florida, has not found much of an audience or appeared in any debates. He has raised a mere $93,812 and a small campaign staff. And now, according to internal campaign documents and interviews with eight former Messam campaign staffers and contractors, his campaign appears to be in near-total disarray. The documents and staffers, some of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect future employment prospects, depicted a no-hope campaign
US job growth stumbles

U.S. employers added 130,000 jobs in August, missing Wall Street's expectations, as trade uncertainty and slowing global growth darkened the economic outlook. The unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7 percent, near a 50-year low, while the labor force participation rate was little changed at 63.2 percent. Average hourly earnings, meanwhile, rose 3.2 percent over the past year to $28.11. That was slightly higher than projections of 3.1 percent. Economists expected employers to add 158,000 jobs, in line with average growth this year but sharply below the 2018 average of 223,000. The June and July jobs numbers were trimmed by a combined 20,000, the Labor Department said Friday.

It’s been a lost summer for the Washington Post. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Post had some pretty embarrassing moments. Whether it was incorrectly stating that presidents do not deliver remarks on the 4th of July, ignoring speeches by Presidents Reagan, Kennedy, and Obama, or being called out for shoddy, politically motivated fact-checking, the Post’s lost summer culminated with a fateful day in August when they were forced to issue 15 corrections to a single article. But as the summer came to a close, the Post set out to ”report” the president’s summer accomplishments, but reporting is not what the Post does. Two of its writers

“Tickling the wire”: That’s the slang expression used by law enforcement personnel to describe the process of trying to breathe life into a moribund or unproductive wiretap. When the subjects of such surveillance fail to discuss their criminal activities over the monitored telephones or at the bugged premises, surreptitious steps can be taken to induce them to do so. For example, in the case of a federal wiretap on a drug dealer’s telephone, if few incriminating communications have been intercepted, the local police can be enlisted to conduct an apparently unrelated car stop, interrogation, and search of the subject. This would be calculated to rattle

Concessions delivered to your seat at the touch of a button! Bluetooth beacons to navigate you with pinpoint precision! High-speed internet throughout! And to top it all off, not a single public cent was spent. The whole thing was privately financed, partly through seat licenses sold to fans at prices ranging from $2,000 to $250,000 — a testament to the exorbitant, almost incomprehensible wealth generated in the greater Bay Area in recent decades, and a gambit that happened to price out a huge swath of 49ers

Former Defense Secretary James Mattis has a book coming out in which he is harshly critical of President Obama. Among other things, he recalls his dissent from Obama’s decision to pull troops out of Iraq prematurely, which had nearly-disastrous consequences. But this less well-known story about Iran is also noteworthy: Mattis says Washington didn’t even inform him when Iran committed an “act of war” on American soil. Mattis was CENTCOM commander at the time, responsible for our military posture vis-a-vis Iran. The media should stop using absurdly lazy phrases like “mandatory gun buybacks.” Unless the politician they’re talking about is in the business of selling firearms, it’s impossible for him to “buy back” anything. No government official—not Joe Biden, not Beto O’Rourke, not any of the candidates who now support “buyback” programs—has ever sold firearms. What Democrats propose can be more accurately described as “the first American gun confiscation effort since Lexington and Concord,” or some variation on that theme. Although tax dollars will be meted out in an effort to incentivize volunteers, the policy is to confiscate AR-15s, the vast majority of which have been legally purchased by Americans

The biggest surprise of the 2016 election was, of course, Donald Trump’s breach of the “blue wall” upon which the Democrats depended to hold back the howling MAGA hordes. It was the fissures in that fabled fortification that brought tears to the eyes of all those Clinton supporters watching dumbfounded as the dreaded “deplorables” invaded their safe electoral spaces. The Democrats have attempted to repair the damaged wall, but it has only weakened further as the unemployed voters who took a chance on Trump have found jobs. They won’t desert him next year, which means the crumbling blue ramparts will completely collapse in 2020. These voters, many of whom
