So there was another shooting in Texas. At last count, including the perpetrator, there are seven dead and around 20 injured. We don't really know anything much about the perpetrator except that he's been identified as white. Apparently, what prompted the shooting was the perpetrator was stopped by the police, shot his way out, and then raced off, shooting other people until he was finally cornered and shot dead. (Prediction: we'll find out he had a long criminal record and active arrest warrants for major crimes.)
Now because I'm sure some rental commenter is just waiting to start typing, yes I think it's awful that people got shot and killed.

We went to eat at a very popular, always crowded local pizza place last night. As we went in, I noticed on the door a sign that said 'Concealed Carry Weapons Welcome!' That place won't be shot up by some crazy looking for an easy target.

Glad cooler weather is coming, most people don’t notice open carry, but you have to dress to minimize contrast of a black pistol, or dress up and wear a button down.

An armed society is a polite society.

Arm everyone? Do you trust everyone around you to act appropriately? If not, how would you want them to have a gun? Sorry, but there are some people that should never have guns.

Not everybody, which is insanity, we just need a high percentage of responsible people armed, which will be a deterrent against mass shooters. Also against gun-grabbing politicos.

#3, for pig hunting with the AR, I recommend at least the 64 gr Winchester Power Point, or the Barnes 62 gr Triple Shock all copper bullets loaded by Remington as their Hog Hammer ammo.
Much of the .223 ammo is either military style FMJ or intended for varmints, lightly constructed bullets to expand on a prairie dog. Hogs need far tougher and heavier bullets designed specifically for that application.

#5, you fail to realize that the bad folks are ALREADY armed. Arming those who are not currently armed will mostly be arming folks with no bad intent. The only real issue is training. If you literally went around and handed everyone a gun, many of them have no training at all, never handled a gun or were shown safe handling rules or skills and there would be accidents.

And #3, using proper ammunition in the .223/5.56 AR will minimize the number of hits needed to stop pigs.
And better aiming plus better ammo will reduce the number of magazines required somewhat.

If the Swiss can do it, so can we.

For hogs (in my humble opinion) you really need something bigger than a .223, at least for the huge hogs in East Texas. A .30-06 is great, or a .308. I have a Molot VEPR, which looks (and shoots) like an AK-47 on steroids. It shoots the venerable Russian 7.62 x 54r, which is cheap, plentiful and has the equivalent power of the .30-06 or 308. If I could afford the luxury of a Russian Dragunov, I'd have one. But this one is the next best thing. I call it my Goodenov.

I've never been searched prior to entering a gun free restaurant, so how would they know? Answer: they wouldn't...

No, Americans, arm yourselves. Don't listen to leftists about guns. Do what's right to protect yourself and your loved ones. Just like with pending hurricanes; do what's best for you and your family. If you feel you should evacuate, do it. If you feel you will be safe ON YOUR OWN (not putting others at risk), batten down at your home.

#11, the Nosler partition is excellent, although I have not used below 7mm caliber.
For 12 ga, I use #1 Buck, 16 .30 cal pellets, vs. 8 or 9 .33 cal pellets in 00 buck. But both are effective
at moderate ranges.
