Not content with his proposals for how Americans are to live their lives, Bernie Sanders now suggests he's open taxing meat as another means of virtue-signalling on global warming. According to Breitbart News: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) signaled that he is open to the possibility of a “meat tax” to help combat climate change, according to a video of a Q&A session at his town hall event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Thursday. A town hall attendee asked the presidential candidate what he would do to address the meat industry’s impact on climate change and floated a “meat tax,” which Sanders did not immediately dismiss: Here's how that went:

I would think that most conservatives would agree with eliminating all subsidies for meat and dairy. There is a reason that many populations have almost no heart disease and diabetes. And it isn't a coincidence that they consume very little animal protein. We are a very fat and diseased society with big pharma fulfilling the role as a junkie. Global warming is a left-wing scam but the harm that animal husbandry has on our environment can not be overstated. The situation would be resolved if health insurance premiums were based on how well we took care of ourselves based on a few vital biomarkers.

So was coffee, salt, sugar, fat, red meat, and whole milk. If you want to eliminate meat and dairy from your diet you are free to do so. You are not free to determine mine.

While Hurricane Dorian’s up-to 220 mph winds were battering the Bahamas, one brave soul there ventured forth to issue a dire message to the world: “Send beer.” A Nassau tourism web cam captured the moment the unidentified beach-comber ambled out onto the sand to scrawl the message at around 1:30 p.m. — around the same time the monster Category 5 was harrowing Great Abaco Island about 90 miles north after making landfall there around 12:40 p.m. The man appears to sign his handiwork “G7DAZ.” It might not be entirely out of character for Bahamians, who are known to be pretty mellow.

Chilling audio of a distress call from the captain of Monday’s doomed Santa Cruz boat includes him describing how all of his passengers are trapped below deck “with no escape hatch.” “There’s 33 people on board the vessel on fire. They can’t get off,” says the man, who later identifies himself as the captain of the Conception diving tour boat, to a US Coast Guard operator. The Coast Guard worker responds, “Roger. Are they locked inside the boat? Roger. Can you get back on board and unlock the doors so they can get off? Roger. You don’t have any firefighter gear at all, no fire extinguishers or anything?”

A 911 dispatcher in Arkansas scolded a woman stranded in floodwaters shortly before the woman drowned. The incident has led police in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to apologize and review their policies for emergency responses during storms. Debra Stevens, 47, was delivering newspapers at about 4:38 a.m. on Aug. 24 when her car was swept away by floodwaters and got stuck in a copse of trees off the roadway amid rising waters, Fort Smith police said. Her call to 911 was answered by then-dispatcher Donna Reneau, who was working her last shift as a 911 operator after she had presented her resignation earlier this month, NBC affiliate KARK reported.

President Trump suggested Friday that he and his supporters should be “given our stolen time back” in light of a Justice Department report that found former FBI director James B. It was not immediately clear what Trump meant, but in May he shared a tweet by a supporter that said he should have two years added to his term as compensation for having endured the investigation of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III into possible coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russia. “The disastrous IG Report on James Comey shows, in the strongest of terms, how unfairly I,

HANOVER, N.H. — Joe Biden painted a vivid scene for the 400 people packed into a college meeting hall. A four-star general had asked the then-vice president to travel to Konar province in Afghanistan, a dangerous foray into “godforsaken country” to recognize the remarkable heroism of a Navy captain. Some told him it was too risky, but Biden said he brushed off their concerns. “We can lose a vice president,” he said. “We can’t lose many more of these kids. Not a joke.” The Navy captain, Biden recalled Friday night, had rappelled down a 60-foot ravine under fire and retrieved the body of an American comrade,

Many see the announcement by a dissident group of Colombia’s Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) rebels that they will break a 3-year-old peace deal and resume armed struggle as a domestic problem. But, more likely, it will become a Colombia-Venezuela dispute — and perhaps escalate into a regional conflict. Colombian President Ivan Duque already has pinned the blame on Venezuela. Hours after the FARC’s Aug. 29 announcement, he said that the leftist rebels are “a narco-terrorist criminal gang that counts on the safe harbor and support of (Venezuelan) dictator Nicolás Maduro.”

In a little noted op-ed published in Columbia Journalism Review, socialist Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders outlined his "plan" for journalism, headlined: "Op-Ed: Bernie Sanders on his plan for journalism." Plan? Just that word "plan" ought to give any self-respecting journalist the creeps. After all, journalists operate under the First Amendment, an inalienable protection and right, in the same way gun-owners derive their right to bear arms through the Second Amendment. The press doesn't operate under five-year plans from all-knowing central planners, which is exactly what Sanders's logic has more than a whiff of. He begins piously with a banal Walter Cronkite

Anyone who thinks that big business hates regulation should look at what’s happening in the auto industry today. While the Trump administration is pushing much-needed regulatory relief, four major carmakers are embracing California’s plans to kill the internal combustion engine. The issue involves federal fuel economy mandates, a vestige of the 1970s “energy crisis” that forced carmakers to meet increasingly strict fuel economy standards for their new cars. These “corporate average fuel economy” standards resulted in a radical downsizing of the American car fleet back then, and were instrumental in destroying the U.S. auto industry’s lead in the car business.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has said publicly that he doesn’t believe government should own the means of production. Yet he appears on national television last week and agrees there should be a “federal takeover” of the energy sector. His Marxist slip is showing. “When I use the world socialist — and I know some people aren’t comfortable about it — I’m saying that it is imperative” to “create a government that works for all and not just the few,” the Vermont Democratic lawmaker said in 2015. “I don’t believe,” he continued, “government should own the means of production,” which of course is a hallmark of socialism.

There are two possible explanations of Joe Biden’s inability to tell the truth about things: One is that his mind is failing him, the other is that his honor is. In neither case is Biden fit to hold the office of president of the United States of America, and Democrats would discredit themselves and endanger the nation to nominate him. Yes, yes, go ahead — “But, Trump!” etc. — and continue when you’ve completed the ritual of equivocation, and don’t think too hard about how far and in what direction that line of moral self-justification has carried the Republican party. Joe Biden is a plagiarist and a liar, among other things.
