U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) has enjoyed a relatively glowing reception from right-wing media since his election to Congress. But that honeymoon period may come to a very swift end(Snip)
The freshman congressman and former Navy SEAL is no stranger to endorsing positions that invite criticism from his right, including his support for keeping U.S. troops in Syria indefinitely and his winks and nods to believers in the Russian collusion hoax.
But following the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, earlier this month, Crenshaw offered support for what may be his most controversial position yet, “red flag” legislation.

I, for one, am not surprised in the least.

"Red flag laws" have been responsible for SERIOUS infringement on Constitutional RIghts without anything like due process.
Anyone suporting them is either a sucker, or actually not a supporter of the Second Amendment. The 2nd is clear, it says "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED". That is an absolute. "Shall" is an imperative word in legalese, a REQUIREMENT, not a recommendation or a goal. A hard requirement of perfomance.
SHALL not be infringed. Any restrictions are infringements, ANY. Being able to override and cancel a constitutional right, second in the Bill of Rights with a bit of handwaving is just fundamentally unconstitutional.

In answer to the OP...no. No I didn’t
And quite frankly I find it disturbing.
It’s not the only thing I just found out, after very minimal research, that is disturbing about the congressman.
Maybe it’s a good thing we see his true colors this early into his political career?
It’s now known who we’re dealing with.

If you want a perfect candidate, either run yourself, or pray that Jesus returns and runs for office.
No politician is going to match my beliefs 100%. But Rep. Crenshaw has been consistently conservative and in line with my conservative beliefs 90% of the time. That is pretty darn good in my book. And he has not been shy about standing up for this country and our military.
We need to stop attacking conservatives just because they aren't as perfect as we are. Dan Crenshaw is a good man!!! If we keep puling this garbage on the good guys, you aren't going to get any good guys to run any more!!!

Mr. Crenshaw needs a come to Jesus meeting with his district's voters. He is skating on rapidly melting thin ice right now. Your military record will not protect you Mr. Crenshaw.
That is past history and a trick that kept a corrupt and evil man named McCain in politics longer than he should have been allowed to stay. Your congressional record is in the here and NOW and the NOW is what counts.

#5. I don't want a perfect congressman. I want one that calls themselves "conservative" to at least profess the American ideals and truths that conservatism expounds. This American HERO is shallow in his beliefs or he is not who he says he is.

Wait until red flag and civil forfeiture laws marry up. "Someone said he's crazy. We'll just have to impound his property (and not just guns - house, car, bank accounts) until he proves otherwise".

I am just one opinion but I would take the advice and judgement of a Navy SEAL over a girl who thinks that a personal attack on a veteran and a very smart conservative is somehow called for here. It's not the law itself, any law can be abused and distorted but keeping guns out of the hands of the insane is not a bad thing. It's all in how you define unstable and insane and obviously the libs could apply these labels to anyone they please. By their twisted standards, I could easily qualify as unstable and insane and would proudly wear that label just as I accept "deplorable" as a badge of honor if it meant that I was inside some Lefty's pointed little head. Yes, Crenshaw should make sure his facts are straight and his communications are clear, but hearing his opinions for the few years that he has been on the scene leads me to believe that what he meant this time is not what she heard.

Crenshaw is not my congressman, but here is what this Texan thinks. I consider his previous professional environment for his actions. The military is a land of regulation and sometime not well thought out policies developed to quickly solve a problem. I think Crenshaw is a reflection of that. All gov't. arms and ammo in the military are tightly controlled and for good reason. The problem comes in when personal firearms enter the picture. "Reasonable" controls on post/base would make pro-second amendment civilians cringe. In some areas of the country, the people who fight to protect our constitutional rights cannot even purchase a gun on base. In other places they can. That's the way it is. The military restricts some rights to get the job done, although there have been examples of massive over reach.
In the 90s in Texas , in response to shootings, a division commander stupidly ordered all soldiers within 100 miles of the post to register their personal firearms. NRA lawyers descended on his HQ like a pack of wolves and that ended that illegal idea. So, I think Crenshaw jumps on the "do something" bandwagon even if not thought out because of his military background. Therefore, like #1, I am not surprised that he did this.

I follow him on Facebook and warned of his red flag stance. He also had a tweet not too long ago about fighting white supremacy. I’ve been saying for a couple of weeks they got to him.

Was not the president's red flag position supportive before he pivoted?

The agitation is that Rep. Crenshaw is against the DEMONRAT iterations and definitions. There can be reasonable ideas discussed to protect the public, but the media doesn’t want to discuss that because it does not fit the narrative as THEY want to describe it—
