Colin Kaepernick became a source of national controversy when he knelt during the national anthem before NFL games in protest against racial inequality and police brutality in the 2016 season. /snip/ "That was a very patriotic thing he did," Popovich told Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. "He cared about his country enough to fix some things that were obvious, that everybody knows about but does nothing about."

Protesters in HK are more patriotic and respectful of American flags than these ungrateful Low Lives.

Popovich, Kerr and others continue to destroy their reputations.

Well good! Now that that immensely patriotic and wise (even though his head looks like a toilet brush) kapernick has fixed everything, maybe the progressively insane of the left will quit their constant agitation.

The man was twisted by living in Europe too long. And Kerr was contaminated by him.

That's why I could care less about the NBA. You could give me a courtside ticket and I wouldn't go.

Kaepernick didn't start his "protest" until he was benched for poor performance. Only then did he try to frame getting cut from the squad for "political reasons" instead of what it really was - his performance sucked.

I no longer watch the NFL or listen to ESPN commentary so I don't know who these dumb clucks are but I do know the 'unpatriotic' Kaepernick is still unemployed.

Popovich and Kerr are quick to spout how America is racist and we don't give minorities opportunities. I think they should give up their head coaching jobs to a minority. They could do this today. Practice what you preach guys.

I have no idea who this Poppovich is, and don't care. Kaepernick is a race baiting liar, and no kind of a patriot, he hates the country. It is fortunate that he hasn't been playing football, too.

The facts (rather than the truth) of the matter is that Colin has been offered position in the AFL, CFL, and surprisingly the NFL. But Colin no longer has the ability to be a first-string Marquee QB, and he will settle for no less, believing he should be given the position as an Affirmative Action hire.

The kneelers ignore the fact that what they said they set out to accomplish has only been made worse. Social Justice was never a real problem except in their pointed little heads and they have made racism a bigger problem than it was through their own displays of blatant racism. All they accomplished was to reduce the income of the NFL by millions of dollars and that's fine with me. The people doing the kneeling are not exactly America's finest examples.

What specifically did he actually fix?
He may have highlighted something to people, but don't believe he fixed anything.
You can say the same thing about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others who talk a lot, but never seem to do the hard work of trying to fix things.
It's the reason I believe people want to hate on Trump, he actually wants to fix things that are broken, or wrong, in the United States. And, people, politicians particularly, don't want to solve problems, otherwise there is no need for that big government program that's supposed to assist people (notice not fix anything), which ends up spending more on administering the program than money that goes to the people that it's supposed to help.

As I live close to San Antonio I get to hear Popovich's rants first-hand. For an Air Force academy graduate to be so way left liberal is hard to take. Some defend his leftism as a necessary thing he invokes because of the racial mix on the team. It help when the players believe their coach marches to the same drumbeat as they do.
Fortunately for San Antonio Pop has one maybe two years left on his contract after which he can retire and go drown himself in his wine cellar. Unfortunately for San Antonio the Spurs have lost the most dynamic three players (Duncan, Parker, Ginobli) the league has seen in decades. I expect the Spurs to be gone from San Antonio by 2021.

Popovich went to the Air Force Academy...graduated in 1970 I believe...his idea of patriotism is skewed at best and disgusting at its worst...I suppose as the new coach of the Olympic team he will now allow all kind of disrespect to the flag on a world stage...would not put it past him ...he might be able to coach (especially if you had Tim Duncan and David Robinson)...but his idea of patriotism and love of this country is rightly to be questioned as bizzare

CafePress.com has Betsy Ross flag bumper stickers. Ms. Ross should be a positive symbol for the left (if they knew anything at all!). As a feminist she owned her own business; she was probably one of the first suffragettes; and as a devout Quaker she was also an abolitionist. What's not to like about Ms. Ross?
I bought the bumper sticker and put it on my car. It annoys my leftist friends and makes me smile every time I walk up to the rear bumper of my car.

Popovich isn't fit to shine Coach K's shoes. Team USA won't be able to equal their success under Coach K.
