August 9 is the 45th anniversary of the resignation of Richard Nixon, the only president in American history to resign or be removed from office. We know what triggered his resignation. He was already on the ropes after two and a half years of Watergate revelations, but what ended any and all defense was the release of the “smoking gun” transcript on August 5. It showed that Nixon had concurred with his staff’s suggestion that they get the CIA to tell the FBI not to interview two Watergate witnesses.
As astonishing as it may be to Americans, who have been assured that the smoking gun tape is proof positive

Ancient history. So what? Not exactly a hot topic. We have a generation now whose own parents weren’t born when it happened.

Nixon was not a fighter. He let a corrupt system blackmail him. But, on the other hand, his communication to the CIA did not help him at all. Too bad that the dims who secretly contributed to Nixons reelection campaign were not exposed. This affair would have been a whole different animal. The reporting of this whole affair by Walter Cronkite on SeeBS news was appalling. My mind was made up from that day forward that Cronkite was a radical lefty and generally not a very nice person. Cronkite's biased reporting of the Vietnam War was proof he hated America.

Why can’t AG Barr and his surprisingly dense DOJ officials realize that Obama and Hillary created an updated version of Nixon’s “plumbers” in order to spy on candidate Trump and then attempt a coup against President Trump? Nixon’s gang of thugs were paid from with cash for breaking into the DNC/McGovern office and a psychiatrist’s. Obama and Hillary used Joseph Mifsud and Stephen Halper, both receiving taxpayer funds from the CIA, to entrap two Trump campaign volunteers so that Obama’s FBI and DoJ could hinder Trump in 2016 and overthrow him in 2017.
Nixon was a crook who received all the benefits of a former president. Appears that the even more egregious crook, Obama, will enjoy the same status.

This should be a game changer, the Watergate trope ground into the dust. But alas....
"..Nixon was driven from office by their secret, but erroneous, allegation of personal wrongdoing."

Nixon was not a crook and I resent that any so-called Republicans still repeat that canard. That's all we need to let Democrats tell us what is acceptable to label our leaders. Especially since it's repeated on several threads.

Nixon had to go down because of the Alger Hiss trial. They had to find a way and would have stopped at nothing.

It's also the anniversary of the birth of Smokey T Bear, the bombing of Nagasaki, the death of Jerry Garcia and the 70th birthday of yours truly.

Nixon was hounded from office. That is true. This writer says they didn't know----but really, they didn't know Nixon was the target? If they didn't, after 2 and a half years of nothing but Nixon, Nixon's defense attorneys were totally incompetent, including the writer of this article. None of us knew how the Democrat machine and their media coordinators worked then. The nation thought people had ethics, principles, and a sense of justice. Alas, the nation has now learned that to be totally false, that DC and the media are corrupt, top to bottom.

Meanwhile, actions much worse then Watergate are hidden and the people responsible live happily ever after.

Nixon was hounded from office just like the left and democrat congress are trying to do to President Trump today. Watergate is about as old news as it is portrayed in Forrest Gump. I never believed in the Deep Throat fake leaker but do know the left was riding the crest of a wave which they are trying to re-live today.
Nixon was a paranoid coward surrounded by the likes of some lackeys like G. Gordan Liddy and others. The whole break in was about the black book of John Dean's prostitute wife that's why he married her so she couldn't testify against the turn coat rat. Forget Watergate but the democrats can't give it up. It's like listening to Grateful Dead music over and over again, it's horrible.

The Dems successfully DID take down a Republican President, and Hellary was a part fo the lying team which did it.
They tried to reprise their "greatest hit" with Trump.
